As friendly as the staff is and as cool as the store is, after I got home and looked at the receipt i was overcharged quite a bit. Items clearly marked were still rung up as more than the tag on the receipt. All I know is you may want to add everything up before you pay what they are asking. Disappointing :(

Great place to get cabinets, bathtubs, lighting, vanities, fixtures, tables and more! Excellent prices.

UPDATE: Although the store responded to this message advising they would like to work it out via email, they have not responded to the email I sent. The disappointment continues! Disappointed by the staff today as there was a man live streaming who began harassing us when we said we did not want to be filmed. He called us expletives and was following us around the store (and later down the street) in which we felt very unsafe. None of the staff helped deter this man. Management did not protect its customers.

I love going here, even if just looking around when in the neighborhood. I always find something that I need for a project. Plus, everyone there is super friendly and helpful.

The friendly staff are very helpful. The assortment of materials is pretty broad. The prices are very reasonable.

I visited the store on my way home and was very disappointed to see the cedar prices so high. The six foot fence pickets are $6 each, which is absolutely ridiculous. They are only $4 at home depot. What kind of business sells for 50% higher than retail and stays in business..I don't know who in the right mind would buy them at the rebuilding center. I asked a worker there years ago about the pricing, and he said it was sixty percent of retail. Not anymore. I shopped their many, many times in the past When it was under different ownership and found some great deals. I bought quite a bit of cedar and very old douglas fir two by fours. Very dissatisfied and will not be shopping there again. I really don't care to hear an apology from the owner on my review. Just lower your prices accordingly.

Bought some sold as 'new sealed in package' flooring over the weekend and tried to install it but the stuff is not fitting well and keeps popping out. I have a lot of experience installing floors and I found this lot to be garbage. Went back and asked for a small credit less than 150 from Carolyn (sp?) but she said, despite being the manager, that this was 'above her pay grade.' She suggested that maybe it was me and not the floor since they got it from HD. I said perhaps they donated it to the center because it is low grade. No response for that, but she did give me an email. This email, which she wrote down, was bad and bounced back. I am low income and shop for discounted floor because in addition to working 7 days a week I have to care for a child with health issues. Just like for many other parents today, It is not easy but having a snide 'manager' play games with me is too much. Also spending hours trying to make defective floor work is beyond what I can do.

I'm not wasting my time loading perfectly good materials just to have them rejected. All of the nonprofits here have become difficult to work with. I have donated truckloads of items, and ended up dumping even more truckload because they are so picky: bookcases, desks, others worth hundreds of dollars, some still new, but rejected, I'm done wasting time and gas. As much as it truly pains me, to the landfills it goes and no one to blame but those who proclaim to be green...

I have been going there for years. But since the remodel and downsize, I am finally done with that store. Prices are very high now, compared to what they used to be. Hard to find that one thing you needed because variety of selection is so Not organic. This last trip was my last, I have no reason to return, I know what they have there and it's all too generic. Just not worth my time to go across town and find nothing, again. Bye.

What an amazing place! I take my old hardware and building materials here to recycle them, and I always look here first before buying anything for my home or one of my rentals. Prices are always super reasonable, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. I love this place!

This place is awesome. You need a replacement glass for an old fixture? They have it. You need a little bit of lumber to finish a project? They have it. Swing by and see what they have before going to a big box hardware store!

Very interesting store. I donated my sink faucet sets. Glad I did not have to toss them in the trash.

Staff is very helpful. Prices can't be beat. Some items like new. All manner of antique fixtures, doors, and accessories. Enjoy the search.

I wish I lived in PDX just to be able to shop here. It has great materials for small to bigger building projects and they are all well organized. If you are like me and can’t buy at least go to see some of the creative builds they have there.

Great place to source vintage to slightly new pieces for an eco-friendly way to build and decorate. Chock full of everything from lumber and doors to cabinets, appliances, lighting fixtures and hardware, all reasonably priced.
Aug 06, 2023 -
The way they price lumber is so frustrating. They charge each board by ft length depending on its width, but normally lumber is more expensive if it is a longer piece. You can't save any money by buying smaller pieces. They have never ending piles of 4ft long cedar tongue and groove and they charge it same as 20 ft long tongue and groove boards if it is the same width, makes no sense at all. 4ft long boards are almost scrap pieces.

So disappointed with the direction this nonprofit is going. A very nice woman agreed to sell me part of a cabinet set for not much under what a manager had said he would sell the entire set for 2 weeks earlier. It had been there for quite some time and the price was fair. It was a good business decision because she would have likely sold the rest later for a greater profit and it would have given the store more space. Plus it was the kind thing to do because we could not afford the whole set (and apparently it was overpriced any way given that it was not selling). She came to me 15 mins later and said the manager had told her she shouldn't have negotiated that low and would I pay near full price. I overpaid what he had asked her cause I was already committed and felt embarrassed. I have donated and bought items from this location for more than a decade. That week I saw a better set for much less at Habitat for Humanity. I bought the set and donated the one I had previously bought at the Rebuilding Center. Shame on this manager for smearing the otherwise good reputation of this nonprofit.

We have been going to the rebuilding center for years. It's a great place to search for that household item you have been searching for and at a moderate price. They have lots of stuff from large chandeliers to small fixtures, all electrical components to help wire and hang. Cabinets, furniture, antique hardware, tile, windows, doors, sinks, tubs, door trim, flooring, and more and more, so kuch stuff and the cob front door is amazing. Take classes to learn and / or volunteer. This place does it all and don't forget to go out the back door, through the alley I to the drop off location and the large warehouse with lumber and uses tools, always something random to see and buy.

It's a great place for exploration and creation amidst discarded gems to be. I would not been able to afford the tools I found or the cedar I needed for a replacement deck anywhere else. Staff were friendly and generally knowledgeable. Their stock turns over quickly so if you like it buy it and don't wait for tomorrow. We could have used some help loading the timber and/or assistance with trying to tie them down. I assume it's to minimize the risk to the employees. We're sorry about blocking the neighbor's driveway, it was an innocent and honest mistake in a moment of desperation.

Mixed feelings. Love the general concept of the store, but their recent price increases have made me question if their guiding principles are starting to skew more towards earning money. The class prices went up over 30%, inflation hasn't been that bad. Salvaged wood they have donated costs more than new lumber. The price difference between a new stove and one at their store is frequently maybe 20%, at most. A single, basic doorknob costs over $10. The nice, name brand lamps are hidden in the back. I've been told they'll eventually be sold online, where they can fetch the most money. I'm sure there are still some good deals buried, but probably because the item hasn't been repriced. I'm glad I was able to take classes before they became unaffordable, disappointed i won't be able to use salvaged materials for future projects.

I’m very impressed and excited by the class that I took here today! I love the mission of reusing materials and teaching the community to be more knowledgeable and capable in repairing and building. The instructors are extremely skilled and welcoming, they provide very highly quality instruction. I’d love to come again.

Most of what you see here is from the rebuilding center. I gutted this room and, while some material is new, some ‘layers’ below and the tiles, window, door and sink are from RBC…

One of the best places, and great people working there. This is where you bring your unwanted but useful surplus building supplies, plumbing fixtures, electrical stuff, Etc. And where you buy other people's surplus stuff at seriously reasonable prices. And where you leave a donation of money when you check out to support the good work they do, have the nice people they are.

I love repurpose stores like this one. You can find new to you all day long. Thier bathroom cabinets and sink sets are very reasonably prices. They had a couple oversized, fiberglass tubs, a jetted tub and a regular tub, tons of wood planks, sinks, switch plates, door nobs, decorative doorway and trim pieces, tiles, toilets, appliances, lighting, pianos (one says free to good home) and much, much more. There are handmade, colorful, glass, bowl sinks by the check out counter, with cards about this local artist. I love perusing these places. Sometimes I find something I didn't know I needed. The entrance and exterior of the building is an eye catching artistic sculpture of trees, complete with benches built in. The store takes up just as much space across the ally behind the front half. It's easy to spend and hour or more here and let your imagination run wild.

We bought an old free standing bathroom sink. Porcelain/cast iron. What a great find. Thanks

Although the selection was sparse for what I was looking for, I did find the perfect bookshelf to turn into a raised garden bed for $10. Couldn't even find dirt for that price! It allowed me to make a donation and a rave review on the excellent staff who helped every step of the way. So pleased that I can grow chilies and herbs in a place with plenty of sun!

This is a super cool place. A great spot to grab cheap building materials. That selection is huge. There are more than just vintage items here, but a lot of vintage themed things are available. The store is huge. We took an hour just to walk through and see everything. There are some beautiful old woods and windows. We had a good time looking. It seems like a place that you could find some great items at.

I was looking for a piece of reclaimed wood to build a bench. Success! Found a nice 5 foot board for $2.75. Can't beat that price. The place is really neat. We'll be back.

Pete is one good guy and helped me with materials and ideas for my kitchen utility project.

This plane has an extensive collection of used building goods to reuse and refurb your house. The building takes up pretty much a full block. Go and look around! You may find a hidden treasure or some things you've been needing to upgrade.
