Called A1 light truck on a Saturday at 11:30 AM ford a ford half ton rear axle. spoke to DON. Right out of the gate, don was not friendly. Just told him what rear axle I need and what gear ratio I need and that it had to be that ratio because it’s 4 wheel drive. Dons response, “sir I’ve been doing this for 40 years, I think I’d know what you’d need” okay…..sorry for being thorough in what part I’m after. Don proceeds to tell me, “I have one but I need to confirm with have it. I’ll call you in 45 minutes. ILL CALL YOU.” You think he called me? Nope. I called back at 2 pm. Left a voicemail. Still nothing. I finally called again at 4 pm. Don answers. You think he check into anything at all in 6 hours? Nope. Didn’t even look into it to see if he had the part. Now don was apologetic after the fact. But he had to call me back. 15 minutes before they close, he calls me back, “sorry we don’t have that rear axle” thanks don. For wasting 7 hours of my day, after being abrasive right from the start. I found the rear axle on Sunday at a pick n pull yard for half the price. Glad to see dons 40 years is getting him somewhere with customer service. That was my first time dealing with A1 light truck, and it will be my very last.
This was my experience-
My girlfriend purchased a transmission for her truck and it sat on the shelf waiting until we could do the swap. Unfortunately they have us the wrong transmission for the motor we had.
We notified them of the mistake and they said they would exchange it for the correct one, which was nice of them. Meanwhile I called almost every week for an entire year until they finally had the transmission for her rig.
I go to pick up the transmission, and he threw in the transfer case for free for waiting so long. I didn’t need it, but hell it’s free. But when unloading the transmission from the truck, I decided to remove the transfer case to save my back in the unload process. As I removed it the casting was Brocken on the bottom. I drained the fluid in the trans and it was filled with water and milky trans fluid. I wasn’t going to run this transmission, it’s sat in the rain and completely flooded!
At this point we are selling the rig and don’t need the transmission, but because he found this “water transmission” for me, he can’t do a refund. So I’m left trading the crap transmission for something I can use in the future.
So 500 dollars later we have a transmission for a motor swap I “might do” at some point, with no clear indication it even works. My gut says know, but now I have 500 dollars worth of transmission. What ever that means.
I will say the people seemed nice, but the owner sometimes answers the phone, doesn’t call you back, doesn’t really make appointments, and thinks transmissions are still usable after being filled with water.
Sorry for the poor review but it’s been a terrible transaction. Do good business, get good feedback.
This company and the team that helped me out with the removal and scrap of my car were awesome! I got the best price around and they were so quick and easy to work with! I'm so happy I picked them to help remove my junk car in Portland, OR! They made the process so quick and efficient, I would recommend them to anyone!! Thanks so much Cash for Cars!
Although everyone I spoke to seemed very nice, I did not have a good experience with this company. I called and got a quote for my car, and then scheduled a pickup during my lunch break at work the next day. I was told I would get a call half an hour before they were due to show up. I didn't, so I called to confirm. Rob said he would call the truck driver to ask what was going on and call me back in 20 minutes, but didn't. I called the office a few times, texted the number that Rob had given to me and still received nothing. Finally, a few hours later, I received a text stating they were down a person and they were extremely sorry, and asked if I would reschedule for later that night. However frustrating, especially since, at this time, I didn't get a lunch break, I appreciated the communication, so I agreed and changed my plans around (again) to be able to be there. The time-frame they said they would be there came and I called to confirm because, again, I hadn't gotten a call. Rob said he would call the truck driver and call me back in 10 minutes, but again, I never got a call back. I called and texted, but nothing. I wasn't trying to be a pain and I get things happen, but communication would have been great. It was just an extremely unprofessional experience.
Thanks A-1 Truck Part of Portland. :)
From start to finish a very pleasant experience. They went above and beyond customer service. AND the icing on the cake was they called after all was said and done to tell me they found a wallet full of money left behind.. Oh my goodness..who does that? A-1 that's who. :) thanks so much.
If you're looking for a reputable company who's honest reliable and hardworking..THESE GUYS ROCK!
~a happy customer 😁
Do you have a lot of time to waste? Then by all means, call these jokers. I made two appointments for them to pick up my vehicle and they missed both. They didn't bother to call either. After calling a third time, a nice dispatcher (the only decent part of my experience) apologized and assured me that he would assign a different driver who would certainly show up. Unlike my other appointments, this was one after business hours but I stayed late in hopes that a later time would be the key to someone showing up. Nope! No call, no show. 3 times.
Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times,..shame on you, me, and you again. DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS BUSINESS!
After reading many reviews, seems like many people are in the same boat. I put in a call to A-1 and was scheduled an appointment "no later than noon." Once 12:00 rolled around no one showed up, put in multiple calls and they said the person would "call me right back." Nothing back. Overall just an unprofessional experience, would recommend looking elsewhere.
Driver showed up an hour after the agreed time and then decided he would pay me a hundred dollars less than what was agreed and was a very unprofessional and rude person. All the parts were there I will never go through this company again for anything as the treatment I received from someone who represents this company decided to act the way he did. I do NOT recommend this company.
The don’t help with ‘Specific’ parts, like a cloth driver seat for my van, which comes in two varieties (a cloth version that fits my van and a vinyl version that does not fit). If you want to be a parts dealer, have the patience to offer your potential customer’s quality assistance. Otherwise you’re just a parts dealer without dealing parts, and YOU end up wasting people’s time.
One of the BEST companies I've had the pleasure doing business with!!! Not only are the prices more than fair, they offered me awesome prices on package deals, too! They were SUPER friendly and attentive to my needs. I apprecialted how they worked together as a team to make sure I was served quickly. I could tell they cared about me during my transportation delima. A special thanks to Scott. You rule!!!
We set up a time for them to pick up our car, the guy rescheduled for later that night and then called again and told us he would be here at 9am. He never showed up or ever called again and now there is no answer and his voice mail is full and it is 2 days later. Good luck with this place!
They were the only ones that had a tail light for my truck in all of Portland after someone stole mine. Donny and Jesse were very professional and went above and beyond the call of duty. They made me feel comfortable and even put the taillight on my truck for me.
Don't let the "under new management" sign fool you. The service is awful. I called about a $50 part on Monday at noon, they told me to call back on Tuesday and they'd get it ready. I called back Tuesday and was told I'd receive a call right back after they checked on the status. I called back at 4pm because I hadnt heard a thing and left a message. Its Thursday and Im seriously confused why its so hard to give these guys my money for a part I can pull myself in 30 seconds. Don't waste your time on these people, go down the street to B&R. No runarounds there.
Had discussed and agreed on a place and price for them to pick it up.Then they could not find a driver for 2 days. I gave my friends the car to hold until the company was ready to pick it up. They were busy and weren't able to pick it up so went elsewhere.
Horrible customer service. I called to get a junk car picked up, they offered me $200 and said the driver would be calling me. Hours go by and the driver never calls. I call back and they give me the drivers number and tell me I have to call and arrange the pick up. Fine..whatever. I call and the driver tells me he won't pay the price quoted by his employees (which was a fair price and the same amount another place quoted.) I feel completely jerked around and the service was terrible.
