The Davis–Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona, hosts the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group, known as "The Boneyard." Covering over 11 square kilometers, it stores more than 4,000 retired U.S. military aircraft, serving as a massive preservation and parts facility.
I can see this place from way up thanks to Google Maps.Its actually the only place I've ever been to that was less impressive to experience in person, than discovering and navigating it on my phone!
I would love to visit someday.

DMAFB managed to poison the drinking water in Tucson with PFAS/forever chemicals and are now refusing to clean it up. If the goal of the military is to protect American lives then they are failing hard right now.
If you’re a Tucson resident reading this, the Air Force is allowing PFAS to leach into your water. They are refusing to comply with an EPA order because the brass thinks they know what the overturning of the Chevron decision means. They don’t. This same brass is allowing nearby civilians to be poisoned. They need to be held accountable
So many airframes here, wrapped up and stored. Some to be dismantled, some who knows what the future holds. We had the privilege of getting a personal tour around the grounds. Got to work on a few of them while on active duty. Some great aircraft and some real oddities we never even knew existed. A must see if you have ever been associated with aviation or just admired them for whatever reason.
No idea if "civilians" would be able to see and appreciate the Boneyard, but what a groovy site to see (for this govt contractor). If you ever wondered where military aircraft go when they retire, this is one (of ?) place!

Absolutely amazing to see so many, many military aircraft parked so lose together awaiting disassembly. If only they could talk... You must see this for yourself! Incredible and inspires memories in you of the brave airmen who flew these warplanes.
I found the place to be a testament to all the wasted resources, blood and treasure spent to clobber the commies into submission. God Bless America ! Love all the B-52's we cannablized for spare parts in order to keep the current 'BUFF's' in working order over the years
Geez, I wish someone would write a real review and not their reaction. That doesn't help us at all here. Bryce's review is by far the most helpful. I would never had known I needed reservation 10 days out for a background check for the bus tour. I wonder how many people's days were ruined going there with high hopes just to be told you don't have a pass to board and now stuck to take "reduced" lot tour only. I'm going to visit within the following months, pretty excited about it. I'll post better detail that would help the next visitor.
The world's largest airplane boneyard is only accessible to the public on tours conducted by the nearby Pima Air & Space Museum on weekdays (excluding holidays). The tours sell out, so make sure to get to the museum early to secure a spot.
Once on the tour, you are not allowed to get off the bus. However, the tour will take you all over the boneyard and you are allowed to take pictures.
There is nowhere else like this place- definitely visit if you can.

I was there. Finelly in my life a dream came true for me. I grew up around military aircraft and seeing this was a wonderful shock. I was a kid again. I was so happy the day I got to see all these giant planes in the hot desert like I wanted to for so many years. I never knew they were all HERE....in Tucson!!!! My boyfriend took me to see it and I was shocked it was here. I always thought the bonyards were in Nevada or New Mexico or something. I live in Tucson now and can go see them any time I wish. ...so happy!!!
