Aspen Hill Local Park in
Rockville (MD)

We met this snake right on the trail. Don't be afraid - it is the eastern rat snake. The eastern rat snake (Pantherophis alleghaniensis) is a large, nonvenomous constrictor snake native to North America. They are the second longest snake in the continent, growing to 2–7.5 feet long and weighing 3–5.5 pounds. Adults are typically black with a white and black checkerboard pattern on their belly, but can also be yellow, orange, or tan. Juveniles are gray with dark blotches and a sandy-gray belly.

Not much space to walk around, at least where I was. Mostly a soccer field.

Nice park with several fields. Not a lot of parking for how busy it is. No lights for night, but does not have any signage indicating it is closed at night.

Not much of a park, rather an awesome running/cycling trail. My dog loves our walks there

One of the few parks that has a porta John to use, so that's a positive. The baseball fields could use some better day-to-day maintenance. The field #1 is so far away from the parking lot, it turns into a hike.

It's my favorite nearby trail. Paved, and well maintained. What's not to love?

The trails are well-maintained. Lovely and green! The sound of the running water is soothing!

Good spot for kids and outdoor party. Not a big space but pretty nice neighborhood park. Parking is a bit tight other than that good location .

Beautiful park with beautiful trails. Clean, easy to find, free parking, and a porta potty. Definitely worth seeing the trails on your own or with friends and family.

The park is usually empty during the school day. There are a couple of ball fields there. They keep the grass mowed, so it's easy to walk. I've noticed park police there a few times while out walking my dog.

Two softball fields and a large open grass area for multiple uses. The parking can be a bit crowded when the fields are in use. There is a porta potty in the parking lot.

Nice little patch of grass. I mostly start and end my runs on the trail here.

Good place to get on the Rock Creek trail

Very beautiful scenery, with a great wild life. Very clean.

The Rock Creek path from here is very shady (for hot days) and park-like.
