I was referred to First Choice Auto by a close friend, and I’m so grateful I followed that recommendation. My car needed a transmission, and every other shop I contacted quoted extremely high prices and long wait times. When I walked into First Choice Auto, I met Larry Sparks, who immediately stood out for his professionalism and honesty. He walked me through everything, inspected the car, and made me feel completely at ease. Their pricing was the best I found anywhere, and the service exceeded every expectation I had. Larry kept me updated throughout the entire repair process and even discovered a tire that was leaking air, he fixed it at no charge. It’s rare to find people who care about customers the way he does. I’ll be returning here for all my future automotive needs.

READ THIS ENTIRE REVIEW Yes it is long, but worth the read. These guys are FANTASTIC. A++++ I have never had a better experience at an auto repair shop. Never! My wife and I were on a road trip from Boston to Georgia in a Chevy Silverado with a Duramax LML engine with a trailer. As we passed through NJ, the dreaded emissions notice came up, which threatened to put the truck into limp mode. We carried on as the message would flash then disappear – until it didn’t. It came on and stayed on, counting down the miles, so we pulled off and found a place to stay. We found Toon Diesel Repair in New Castle, and called them at 7:30a. They said to bring the truck in. At Toon, we were sent to First Choice Auto and Truck Repair, since Toon only handles big rigs. As First Choice doesn’t have a place to store an 8.5x18 utility trailer, we dropped the trailer at Toon Auto – which has full fencing with barbed wire and a security camera system. Kenny and Larry at First Choice took us in as soon as we got there. We paid a $185 diagnosis fee and they spent the time they needed to diagnose the truck. A bypass valve in the back of the truck needed replacement, which was estimated as an 8.5 hour job (they credited the diagnosis fee in the estimate). We didn’t have a choice, so they got to work, and said they would be done next day around noon-ish. We went back to the hotel. We returned the next day around noon.. and they weren’t done. We hung out in the waiting room for some time.. it took another 5 hours, as the valve took 7 just to remove! HOWEVER…They came out and gave us regular updates through the day so we know exactly what was going on. The job took longer than planned, and they had issues with the computer – so they brought it to another shop that had the software they needed. They returned, and gave us the truck back. The job took over 15 hours (!). I figured we were screwed, but they charged us the original estimate, which was for 8.5 hours. They knew we were in a bind – they could have completely screwed us over, but chose to stick to their original estimate, and they took us in without us waiting as an emergency repair. We grabbed the trailer (Toon met us there after hours to let us pick it up) and finished our trip to Georgia – and the return trip (28 hours of driving after the repair). No more error message, and the truck runs better than ever. Anyone who put a bad review is either a competitor trying to bring their rating down, or someone that has no reason to be upset. Kenny, Larry and team (and the Toon Diesel repair shop) were AWWESOME. I wish all repair shops had the ethics and persistence these guys have. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU !!!

Excellent service from start to finish. They explained everything clearly, didn’t try to upsell, and got my car back to me right away. Hard to find auto repair shops you can actually trust—this is one of them. Highly recommend!

My experience with First Choice has been always been excellent. I needed a light replaced and my low pressure tire light was on. I called and they were able to take me the same day, and replaced my light and put air in all of my tires that triggered the sensor light to go off. The repair person was very polite and he also told me that he checked to make sure my oil change service was not needed for another month or so, depending upon the mileage.

Polite and informative, gave an estimate before the work was performed even for the basics

Rude and very expensive. They charged me over $600 to diagnose and install a slack adjustor and brake kit on a trailer. Thats a scam. But they knew I didn’t have time to go other places, so my loss their gain.

I wish I could give zero stars. This was one of the worst customer service experiences ever! The lack of professionalism and courtesy to their customers (because I do not have a fleet I am assuming) is severely lacking. I was quoted one price and told that they would get back to me regarding any other adjustments once the mechanic looks it over. I never received any phone calls about what parts/services I would need. Usually the mechanic would call and let their customer know what the cost would be and if they would like to proceed. Instead I had to do all the calling and then they would give me an attitude when I question why my cost had doubled from their last quote. They would get over emotional on the phone and told me to "just pick up the truck, as they don't need my business". Time will tell how well my truck was serviced but I was hoping to build a relationship with this place prior to them servicing my truck but I would never go back or recommend this place at all. STAY AWAY!!!!!

AAA towed my car here b/c my CEL was blinking. The shop charged me $260 to read the error codes and charge my battery. They said I needed a new clutch, $2,400. I didn't believe them, so I went to pick up my car, and saw they had recorded error code po301 (cylinder 1 misfire) WITHOUT EVEN TELLING ME ABOUT THIS ON THE PHONE. Not only did they not tell me about this error code, they didn't try to troubleshoot or fix the engine misfire, and they tried to sell me an incorrect fix. If I paid them for a new clutch, my problem wouldn't have been solved. Guy on the phone was unprofessional and kept dancing around what my real problem was. Kept saying "uh, it's the clutch, and if you don't fix it, uh, it'll come back". Yea right. I know what a slipping clutch feels like. Don't bring your car here.

The staff was very knowledgeable and kind to me the entire time I was there. I'd like to also note the *everyone* wore a mask the entire time, which I was very pleased to see.

First Choice has taken care of the fleet of BrightFields, Inc., where I am Operations Manager, for several years. They are responsive, dependable, and provide quality service. First Choice fixed a huge problem we had been dealing with in our fleet, where our trailer wiring didn't consistently work with our truck wiring. At our request, they rewired all trucks and all trailers, and solved our biggest issue quickly.

I'm a warehouse manager for the Wilmington Housing Authority. We have trusted First Choice with our fleet for over 20 years. They offer great service and very reasonable pricinging on the work they do. I would definitely recommend First Choice to anyone looking for great car service!

Brought in my truck for a diagnosis, had to call about 3 times and left a message before I was contacted back. Each time I contacted them they said my truck was up next, which took over 5 days to be next apparently. On the 5th day they contacted me saying my Truck was ready for pickup and the total was 300$. Never asked if I actually wanted them to fix the problem for one, and two they replaced a 17$ fuel filter which they said they got for 54$... So all together with lack of communication, not asking for permission to actually work on the truck, and charging me 300$ for a 17$ part with a diagnosis and probably 10mins of actual work, in no way would I recommend this shop. Save your money people.

My 12 year old car broke broke down to the point of where I was unable to drive it or shift gears. AAA towed it to this location bc they were close by and they have a contract where AAA member get 10% off service up to 50$. (This is a pro; however, they will not tell you this even if they know you are a AAA member at check out. You have to remind them.) It was the end of their business day when my car arrived, so I counted myself lucky that they were able to take my car in with little notice. The technicians diagnosed my issue and called me early the next day for my OK to start the work. I said OK. It was was ready for me to pick up well before the end of day. When I went to pick it up, neither the man who rang my card or the man who gave me my car keys checked for my photo identification. Mildly concerning. I drove home (about 25 minute drive) and left my car off for about eight hours. Attempted to start my car, and it did not start. I do not know enough about auto mechanics to say that car my is in worse shape physically than it was when it arrived at this establishment, but I can say that the functionality is no better. My car will not start. And I paid actual money for it. When I called back to express this, the owner wanted very little to do with my particular concerns. Lesson learned: I will do more research next time I need to find a mechanic! (Also good to know if you end up there, they have a $65 storage fee per day for any vehicle left in their yard after work is completed and the customer has been notified. There is a chance they will not tell you, either. Good luck!)

I own 2014 Peterbilt 384, I have been called today 04/12/17 to the Shop and asking for Annual DOT INSPECTION. So gentlemen answer to me come and we make the DOT INSPECTION. I have been called at 11 am, arrived to shop at 2pm and 3:30pm they been finish my truck. Ar shop a gentleman told me left turn signal does not work. I did all services on my own truck left turn signal was warked. That shop charged me $32.40 for labor for lamp replace. But that guys does not know me. In Ukraine all drivers got mechanik knowledge, we can do almost everything on a truck except rebuilding Engine, and Transmission, and very heavy-duty work, and that guy said to me about turn signal lamp. I come to truck and I have lamp tester, I show him lamp is work, but I gave him another spare lamp, I always have in my truck all spare lamps. Yesterday 04/11/17, I replaced oil and all filters on my own truck. What is that DOT INSPECTION BUSINESS? May be in US it is normal, ler me know about that. I am not upset about labor charge $32.40, but I am getting really upset when people lie to me, because that means that they do not respect me.

Staff is very friendly. They service our company's fleet and have serviced my personal car. In the countless times we've called, they've been timely and very professional. Great work with no complaints from the company or individuals in the office who use them as well.
