Specifically diagnosed transmission problem (others listed as transmission experts just wanted to replace unit). My cost significantly less. Also, absolute professional - showed part replaced. Really refreshing experience.

Called in needing a diagnostic on my wife’s vehicle and Mark (Center Manager) took care of me. Not only did he reassure me nothing major needed to be done, but charged me nothing for the 10-15 minutes to drive the vehicle and inspect the undercarriage. I cannot say enough wonderful things about my experience and the integrity exhibited. If transmission work is ever needed, best believe I am going to just one place - Cottman Be blessed!

Shour out to Mark! I would like to give an extremely honest review. This place is amazing. I had many other quotes from other places that weren't even close to this one. Just to start of with the price was extremely low for the amount of work and job that Mark completed. Just the part alone cost more at another place than the entire service. Basically what I am saying is that they were very cost efficient which is very convenient and the job was competed in a great manner. They got me in and out in a great time frame and they did not charge me anything extra to look over my transmission. I truly appreciate the honesty and efficiency. I will be recommending Cottman to everybody and I will be bringing my other vehicles as well. Thanks again Cottman!

That one star is an understatement. If I could I would give them no stars. Worst experience in my life. Mark was very unprofessional. Dropped of my vehicle for some transmission work. Mark called me the following day saying my vehicle is done. When I get there, I introduce myself as the person on the phone. So due to the fact, I had transmission work done. I ask for a test drive. Mark said no, so I explained to him. He just call me with an invoice so I just suppose to pay the invoice without testing your work. I told him he can come with me. So he said yes, after the back and fourth with him for a test drive. I was so disgusted with him and Cottman Transmission. So we go on the test drive. I start the car, as soon I turn the car on. I knew pretty much nothing was done. Ok, I put the vehicle in drive move to exit to go on DuPont Hwy traffic is coming so I had to wait. I get an opening so I try to pull out the Cottman Transmission lot. Why the car did no move, I gave the vehicle gas and went no where. So I coast to the emergency lane to get out of traffic. I put the vehicle in park and tried again in drive. So I get the vehicle to move mind you Mark is in the passenger seat quite as all hell. I’m pissed after he gave me a hard time just far a test and now this. All that I’m thinking about if I paid the invoice and tried the car then. Things would have went a whole different way believe that. So I’m on the road with Mark as the passenger. The vehicle is running like shit. It’s so bad, I thinking I’m not gonna make it back to Cottman Transmission’s lot. The vehicle was driving way better before I dropped it off before Mark started working on it. Get to lot, get out the vehicle. I’m so pissed right now after the back and fourth with Mark for test drive now my vehicle not repaired as Mark said it was. Mark takes his scanner plugs it in the vehicle to find out pretty much the same problem it was dropped off for. Now, I tell Mark I not playing any games with you. I’m a customer I came here cause I needed transmission work done to my vehicle. Can you take your time and repair my vehicle call me when actually done done. I leave on fire pissed. So a week goes by nothing from Mark no heads up or nothing. So I call Cottman Transmission’s in New Castle. Guess who picks up, u got it Mark. So I introduced myself again. I wanted to find out the status of my vehicle. He tells me the waiting on a part to come in should be done tomorrow. So next day I get a cut around afternoon. Mark said we tried the part nothing worked. So I ask so my vehicle is the same way I dropped it off. He said yes. So I took my vehicle to a transmission shop to get work done to it. Cottman Transmission could not do the repair.

OUTSTANDING!!! I have a 2003 Jeep TJ with a 5-speed manual transmission. After hearing some noises, something broke and my drive train locked up. I figured I broke something in the transmission (judging from past experience with a different vehicle). Most transmission shops in the area refuse to touch a manual transmission. I went to see Mark at Cottman Transmission in New Castle. He showed no hesitation whatsoever. After we talked, he immediately dispatched a tow truck, at no charge, to pick up my vehicle (on a busy Friday) and had my Jeep in his shop within the hour. On Monday, he had determined that the problem was broken gears in the rear differential, and NOT in my transmission. This was good news! He gave me a very fair estimate, and I picked up my fully repaired Jeep on Wednesday after paying a few dollars UNDER the original estimate. In addition, he had checked out the rest of the drive train to ensure everything was in good shape. Overall, the service from Cottman Transmission in New Castle was excellent, and Mark was extremely professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and very responsive. Honest, reliable, and eager to serve a first time customer, I wouldn't hesitate to come back, and I highly recommend this shop. Lastly, I have a 1979 Jeep CJ-5 with a Chevy 350 in need of a new transmission, and I look forward to working with Mark to get it back on the road for the spring Jeep season!

This was the BEST EXPERIENCE I’ve ever had with a car repair shop! Mark was amazing and extremely transparent about the status of my car and kept me updated throughout the process. 10/10 would strongly recommend to any and everyone. This place has great service. Mark is professional and will let you know exactly what is going wrong with your vehicle. He comes across as a stand up guy, who doesn't try to get over. The prices are fair as well. I will return to Cottman for any issues in the future.

I'm occasionally reminded when I try to take any of my vehicles anywhere else besides Mark over at Cottman that this is the only place I'll ever go! The service is on point! The prices are better than you'll find anywhere else and the turn around time is lightning fast. Don't even try to waste your time anywhere else...

Mark and his team are excellent. They explain exactly what the issue is and let you know your options for the repairs and costs up front and with no intention of upcharging for unneeded repairs. The service was fast and they had me back on the road in short order. I recommend this shop to anyone who needs quality service at a great value.

Mark was so helpful with getting my commander fixed ! Transmission was overfilled at another place and was dripping down the tube onto the exhaust causing my vehicle to smoke. He took the time to carefully examine and explain what happened. Very grateful for the service as it’s the only car I have to get around with me and an 8month old. I highly recommend and would use again if need to !

I called early in the morning as soon as they opened and asked if they could fix what I was told by AAA was my alternator. The person (I think Mark) answered the phone pleasantly and told me to bring my care in that day. They fixed the issue and I had my car back running by the end of the business day. I will return for future care of my car.

I believe they did a excellent job on my 98 Jeep Cherokee. They also serviced both axels and the transfer case. They checked out some other things I mentioned to give me a heads up and didn’t charge me for things I asked to have done but didn’t need. They had it all done in less than 8 hours even provided me with a ride home when I dropped it off and picked me back up when it was done. Thanks to all involved it’s appreciated.

I own a 2006 Toyota Corolla and she's been very good to me. She just turned the 200,000 mile mark and I decided to keep her even if I decide in the near future to get a new car. She has never had her clutch replaced (5 speed transmission) and she started exhibiting signs of wear. I took her to Cottman's Transmissions located on Route 13 in New Castle, DE and spoke with Mark. Mark assured me that she would be in good hands. I must admit that I worried but Mark proved to be a man of his word. He sent me a text indicating that the work was done and that the road test confirmed the quality of their work. During my one hour ride home this evening she rode like a champ. She went through the gears smoothly and without any slippage. Tonight's drive home reminded me of the day when I first took her home in 2006. Thank you, Mark, for a job well done.

Several weeks ago, my truck broke down and I thought my transmission die on me. So I had my vehicle towed back home because all the repair shop were closed during the weekend. So I called around to get a estimate on a transmission repair. As everyone knows transmissions are very costly. So I finally contact Cottman transmission and total care. The manager Mark and the team (Greg)there were outstanding. Mark was up front , patience and honest with me. I didn’t feel that he was trying to get over on me with the price of the repairs.I did check the reviews on -line and everyone statements were true. I would definitely recommend this repair shop and the crazy part about this situation, it wasn’t my transmission that was broken, it was another issue that cost less what I was actually going to pay. My vehicle is running great and my daughter is happy to have her car back. Lol

Mark was great ! An associate at AutoZone referred him to me after I got my check engine light diagnostic . I took him the report, he gave me a price and had me and my car out in an hour!!! The price was reasonable as well ! Thank you so much !!

During my recent engine troubles, my first visit to Cottman went well beyond my expectations. Mark was awesome, very helpful and patient about my situation which I feel I could have been taken advantage of in another garage. Cottman is by far the best and far exceeded my expectations. In a consultative conversation, Mark provided excellent insight regarding various options to fix my transmission problem. Based upon that conversation I took my car in. Mark provided very good updates regarding what was going on and recommended some additional repairs to make my car operate better and safer. The price plus warranty of service was better than buying a junkyard transmission and having it installed with no guarantees. The car runs great, I highly recommend Cottman for your service needs. I appreciate their candor, business and professionalism in fixing my vehicle as they turned what was seemingly a bad situation into a good one.

My experience with Cottman has always been a great one; however, on Saturday morning 10/26/19 was my latest service with them. I explained to the service tech my brakes have begun making a grinding sound. Was informed I needed back rotters and brakes. Had both replaced, less than the same hour my brakes began grinding again and the shop had closed. This truly defeated the entire purpose of my visit. Now I am left with no other choice but to be late for work on Monday morning to a job I have never been late to and has perfect attendance. Needless to say I not a happy camper right now. I am back to square one with my original visit to them. Praying my brakes issues will be resolved first thing Monday morning. Will follow up on this issue with the outcome.

Mark is great! The rebuilt my transfer case and other work for my Benz SUV... the quality of their service is excellent. I had my vehicle back in 3 days (including time for ordering new parts). I highly recommend this shop.

Mark and his crew are on point! Very professional and reasonable pricing. Having out of state tags makes me a dead ringer for “other repair shops high prices” not for Mark and his team. Mark is such an honest man. There have been many scenarios where he has saved me thousands of dollars from what the dealership would have charged me. He's always accommodating to my needs and my schedule. I have been a customer with him for 5 years, and I have recommended him to all my family and friends. They fix any issue on any cars.

Mark was awesome. I was in and out to get a portion of my cooler line replaced. They were very knowledgeable about transmissions and upfront about prices. Definitely a good experience and will be choosing them next time.

Our transmission went out in our van while travelling through Delware on 95 S. Mark and Greg have been extremely helpful, compassionate, and honest mechanics! They are meticulous, clean, and prompt. Their service surpassed my expectations. We appreciate them and would highly recommend them! Also, Delaware has no sales tax - major plus! Brought the cost down significantly :)

I would not take my vehicle to any other place! The transmission on my 2007 Chevy Malibu went suddenly and the service I received from the team at Cottman was exceptional. They diagnosed the problem quickly then gave me a realistic time frame for the repairs. If you are like me fixing your car is not something you look forward too, but I am thankful I took it to a trust-worthy shop.
