Went for the county's Earth Day Celebration. Very nice event. Lots of information from various government departments (with cute giveaways for kids). Big trucks and bulldozers for kids to climb on and sit in. Food trucks and bands. Chill atmosphere. Had to park on grass - wear good shoes!

I finally visited the Sully Historic Site with my pups. I entered the park, and parked in the first parking lot where a building that looked like a trailer that houses the visitors center and museum is located. I am really surprised by how clean and spacious this park is. I walked around and checked out this historic buildings which include the slave cabin, a well, Manor, a kitchen, one has a fire pit (smokehouse?), And one building is where the restrooms are located near the other parking lot next to Rt 28. There is a gravel trail that wraps around the historic buildings section. I assume the gardens would be pretty in the Spring and Summer. The slave cabin is off to the side where the The Cabin's Branch Trail starts, off the the right of the cabin. I got on the trail, and it took me through and open field under the power lines. I kept walking until I see a little sign on the left pointing in the direction to the Manor. I turned left, following the sign, then I saw bigger sign pointing in the direction to the Manor and indicating that the end of the Cabin's Branch Trail. There is a trail facing the sign that appears to continue behind the sign. I decided to explore the trail facing the sign wondering how I missed it. This trail feels a little creepy because it is shady and the trees looked dead. I couldn't find out where the trail leads to because I reached the part of the trail that was blocked by a bunch of, what appeared to be, fallen trees. I turned around and got back to the bigger sign and headed to the manor. Before reaching the Manor, the trail branches to the right into the parking lot where I parked. Note: The downloaded from the website is not accurate, but fortunately, there are signs at the beginning and at the end of trail. There are picnic tables at this park. It was very quiet when I went, Sunday around Noon, and the only people I saw was a couple looking at the historic buildings.

I went her for the annual classic car show. It was Father’s Day weekend for 2024. There were so many cars and vendors. Great show. The site itself is a little historical hidden gem.

An historic gem. I've lived in Fairfax County my whole life, and never knew about Sully Historic Site. Includes the original plantation house, an accurately reconstructed log home that was skillfully built and occupied by enslaved people, a spring house, a carriage house, and other structures, all original to the property, plus a log schoolhouse moved from its original location to Fairfax Circle, and then to Sully. Extensive archaeology over decades has revealed much history. Tour of the plantation house is worth it.

Went to the Sully Historic House this weekend. It is a pleasant place to walk and learn about history. I recommend the house tour as you learn so much about the house and grounds, our volunteer tour guide was very knowledgeable! Do take some time to visit if you can.

Hidden gem near Chantilly, VA. The staff went above and beyond with the tour! I'd love to go back to see the house and festivities for the Christmas holiday!

Sully Historic Site is a beautiful place to spend the afternoon and it has a lot of educational spots to visit on a self guided tour. They do have guided tours but I can't speak to those.

Sully Historic Site is a wonderful place to take a walk or have a picnic. They offer house tours and they have various classes throughout the year. We stopped by on a sunny winter day and had the place practically to ourselves. I highly recommend stopping and checking it out you can stroll the grounds and hiking trails for free. There is a $10 per person fee for house tours. The property consists of the main house, stand alone kitchen, smoke house and there is a 1 room school house on the property.

The tour pricing has changed, but you can check their website. They currently offer tours Thursday - Sunday 11am, 1pm, and 3pm, you can check online for availability. Parking and the grounds are free unless they have a special event like their Father's Day Car Show. If you just want to have a picnic, walk or run, check out the trails and enjoy nature it is a beautiful place. If you or your kids enjoy Pokemon Go there are around 15 Poke stops and gyms on the property.

We went to Sully Plantation for the Father's Day car show. It was not a disappointment. Rows and rows of antique cars, great choices of food at the food court, LIVE MUSIC, and a flea market, too. We enjoyed talking to the owners of the cars and hearing the history. It sprinkled for a few minutes and that turned out to be a bonus because we got to see all the owners putting the tops back on the convertibles. So cool! The only downfall was that the food was very expensive. But we had a great time and are looking forward to next year .

Neat place to visit. Took out son to do a Merit Badge there and my wife and I decided to do the tour. Not a lot to it, but pretty fascinating. The house was about as big and Washington's or maybe a bit bigger. Lots of cool original or time period items in the house.

First time I visited Sully in more than 40 years. Back then it was known as Sully Plantation and was out in the middle of nowhere. Time moves on I guess and now you hear traffic noise all the time since a major highway now borders the property. It's still an interesting site, but has lost some of its charm. It's a nice place to have a picnic out on one of the lawns.

Very small site, but plenty of good history to learn from. Bring sneakers! There are walking trails for those who want to get some exercise in.

Father's day car show is an annual tradition. Arriving early or late usually ensures a decent parking spot near the entrance.

Great history for older kids and adults. For younger they have special events like Easter egg hunts and car shows with a kids tent.
