As a woman who knows nothing about cars, I appreciate Rick’s approach. He doesn’t try to upsell you or tell you need to have things done that don’t actually need to be done. I trust his recommendations and won’t go anywhere else!
Rick and his team are awesome. He's very good about answering questions and explaining issues with my car. His team is good about communicating a repair timeline and offering options for solutions. He won't fix the car without your consent after explaining what and why it needs done. I appreciate all his help!

South Riding Automotive is one of the very, very few auto service businesses who operate on competence, honesty and fair pricing. Been having them service all our vehicles for 20 years. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have found them.
Not sure how this business operates but it's not good apparently. My husband showed up on a Sat. morning about 15 min prior to opening for a state inspection. The shop says it opens at 8 AM. He waited until 8:20 and still no one was there. He called a few times and the call went to voicemail. He wasted so much time waiting and driving ?
I've only been coming here the past couple of years. Rick is awesome. Super honest, explains everything clearly, and his prices are reasonable. He does better work than my previous shop which I went to because it was "AAA certified". Don't hesitate and keep your cars running by supporting his shop.
Just had a mount and balance done and couldn't have been easier. Fair pricing, honest employees and had me out in less than an hour. Even cleaned the wheels for me. I wish I could give 10 stars.
I called for an emissions appointment and was able to get an appointment the very next day! I was in and out in under half an hour and the staff was super friendly!
Rick provides excellent service and value. I trust his expertise and judgment and have followed his recommendations over the years across multiple vehicles. South Riding is not close to me, but I always make the trip because it is definitely worth it.
The service that I received at South Riding Automotive was excellent! Loved that they made appointments! Needed a state safety inspection and emissions testing. Had a couple of bulbs out and the price of the bulbs and installation was very reasonable. Matt was very helpful and answered all my questions.

Called Rick to explain the problem I was having with my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. He took the time to hear my issue which was Cold Air blowing on the Driver's Side with Warm Air on the Passenger. We discussed possible solutions and how it could be either the Blend Door Actuator or the Actuator Gear. After my discussion, I was better educated on the problem and the possible solution. I dropped my car off and Rick was able to get my car fixed very quickly which was a major bonus.
I made an appointment on Friday morning 9am. And when I arrived, I was told that no appointment has been taken and also asked me who answered my phone. Besides, he said I arrived at 9:05 which is later than 9am. Excuse me? I arrived on 9:02am and it is a raining day, and the several people were chatting in the back, no one came to talk to me even they saw me.
Extremely poor customer service.
Your business doesn’t deserve me spend even a cent on it.

Love these guys, have been using them for over 5 years -- Iived in the area for 17 years -- and they are my favorite mechanics. I won't name any names but I have tried five others before settling on Rick and his team. No, they don't always know right off the bat what the issue is but they go the extra distance to figure it out and explain it all in layman's terms. And they don't overcharge unlike some of the others in the area that insist that you need to replace everything. I've owned several cars over the years, mostly foreign and many with signicant mileage so they've done a great job keeping them safely on the road. Never had a problem with them breaking down. Am very happy and will continue to use their services. Definitely recommend!
As a person with over 40 years in the automotive business, I can say that South Riding Automotive is one of the best shops in the northern virginia area. Rick is one of the most honest mechanics I have dealt with and is extremely fair. I do not expect a man to work for free and his pricing is more than fair. Highly recommended.
