Such a pleasant alternative to the typical dealership soft-torture/ high pressure techniques for a used vehicle! Go look at, sit in, and test drive what they have (at your pace without someone trying to convince you this one is what want vs what you came in asking for...). If it's not there, wait a few days or look at the nationwide inventory and you will likely find it with options to get it there to check out. No wasted time or BS. ("I gotta talk to the manager about that...", 15min+ later returning.... (and repeat)). Highly recommend CarMax if you're looking for a new-to-you ride.

🚗 If you’re shopping for a car, take the hint — ask for Clint! 🥇 This was actually my first experience with CarMax, and I’ll admit, I used to think the traditional dealership is better. Well…Nope!! After a few unsuccessful adventures there, I ended up at CarMax in Virginia Beach, and I’m more than happy I did.🤩 First of all, the setup is amazing 🥰. There are so many cars, and the best part is that you can actually walk around, open them, sit inside, look at the stickers and prices without having to hunt down a salesperson just to unlock a door. That alone makes the experience feel relaxed and comfortable. But the real story here is ➡️ Clint Talman!! 😎🏆 Technically, Clint is a Senior Sales Consultant at CarMax… but let’s be honest for a second, who actually likes “car sales guy”? 😄 Exactly. Well, I can guarantee you Clint is not one of those. I’m a very picky person. I’m extremely sensitive to the moment when someone is trying to “sell” me something. The second I feel pressure or persuasion, my brain basically goes: Nope. 🙂↔️We’re done here. So yes… I’m not the easiest customer to please. 🤪😉 But Clint never made me feel like I was being sold anything. Not even once. Instead, he acted more like an advisor and advocate, ensuring I had the information I needed and was comfortable with every step. He answered questions, helped me understand financing (which I was honestly nervous about), and just made the entire process feel easy. One day, I really needed his help, but it turned out it was actually his day off. Still, Clint made sure to stop by and help me finish everything. I knew he had dinner plans (well, his phone kept ringing), and I honestly felt a little bad about keeping him there… but he never made me feel rushed or uncomfortable. His priority was simply making sure I was taken care of first. That level of dedication says a lot. And the story doesn’t end there!! Even two weeks after purchasing my incredible Raptor, when I reached out again with another question, Clint stepped in and helped me once more without hesitation. So yes — I highly recommend CarMax in Virginia Beach. But even more importantly, if you go there, ask for CLINT TALMAN!!!

I went there to look for a new car. The gentleman added us on to the wait list which wasn't an issue. The main issue was the fact that they forgot about us. We went on the list at 11:40am and I inform the black women that we been waiting for close to two hours as it was 1:38pm me telling her this. Sadly she definitely seem to not care AT ALL. Please avoid that women. She a well dressed black woman with. Late 40s entering early 50s maybe. Waiting close to two hours was highly unacceptable. Even more unacceptable is the sheard fact that she was nor helpful at all and didn't care, not even seem to not care she simply didn't care as she kept looking back at us knowing we were upset. She needs to be re trained on customer engagement and hospitality because she DID NOT. Make Carmax look good.

The service CARMAX provided me was exemplary in every respect. I initiated my CARMAX transaction online, but the offer was so good that I wanted to confirm it and went to my local CARMAX dealership. The facilities are modern, clean and bright and the personnel were friendly, helpful and professional. Within 20 minutes of my arrival the offer was confirmed and exceeded my expectations. The offer was $5000 above two dealership trade in offers and $3000 above a CARVANA offer. This was my second CARMAX sale and both resulted in top appraisals. I would most strongly recommend CARMAX to anyone looking to sell their car.

I paid $1000 to have a BMW 228i shipped from here to MS!! The website showed one tiny dot (chip) as an imperfection. The car made it yesterday, it looked like they rolled it from Virginia to Mississippi. IT WAS COVERED IN DENTS, DINGS, SCRAPS, & SCATCHES to the WHITE, CHIPS & a HOLE in the Bumper. I have never been so upset in my life! Then they didnt even try to wash it before my appt, then had to the nerve to have mud on the tires! I wouldve never ordered this mess had they posted it REAL imperfections!

This is my first time dealing with CarMax it was a pretty easy process I did feel the salesman wasn't pushy but didn't offer a lot of information without me asking first and some of the questions he couldn't answer. I actually found a car that I had been looking for her having it shipped from a different location. Everything that we wanted in a car except little things there was quite a bit of rust we got it home and there's been noises and squeaks and other things that we found wrong with it after the 10 days was up to bring it back for a full refund. So I have to say I'm not totally happy with my purchase I'm actually very upset with myself for keeping the purchase before my 10 days was up it's been 2 months it is a 2016 Honda Odyssey Touring Elite. I expected this vehicle to be a nice comfortable ride at 77,000 miles but it had a serious pulling to the left issue had two new tires on it too old tires so I purchased new tires and balance them that seemed to fix it a little bit but then I took it to the dealership for maintenance and they did something and it does drive a little bit smoother but there's still some loud noises under the hood when you start it up in the morning sounds like fuel injectors knocking around under there I'm really very unsatisfied with my purchase but it has been too much there's quite a bit of rust on the outside and the inside and totally under the undercarriage. It is at the dealership as we speak but I'm sure they'll say there is nothing wrong with the noise that I'm hearing and I know there is something happening under the hood. I know quite a bit about vehicles in the mechanic issues I'm just not familiar with the Honda never purchased one never owned one. I don't think I'll be recommending this CarMax or any CarMax as a go-to because this like I say was shipped from another dealership which I feel they dropped big bomb on cleanliness preparingness getting it ready for sale it just they dropped the ball big time. I didn't expect a perfect vehicle by no means but this was an is not acceptable. For one they gave us a spreadsheet on maintenance from a different company I had the vehicle for a few weeks and decided to look up CarMax myself and it had a minor to severe accident recorded that was not mentioned or even shown in the original Auto fax that they provided us. I'm very disappointed wish I'd never purchased this vehicle.

A couple weeks ago I had went through with a vehicle transfer from a CarMax location in Plano, TX. CarMax had made the whole process seamless from start to finish. The vehicle came in quicker than the estimated time of arrival. Vickie at that location was wonderful! she kept me up to date through the whole process. She answered all my questions and provided assurance every step of the way. Once I got to my test drive appointment, I was greeted by almost every staff member at CarMax. Everyone was so polite and unassuming! While I was waiting for a sales rep, I was given the opportunity to take a look at the vehicle I had ordered without a salesman hovering over my shoulder. I didn't have to wait too long until I was finally helped by Venessa. She made the actual test drive and buying process a breeze! Not too many questions asked, and she was very knowledgeable. I recommend buying from CarMax. Whether you are a first time car buyer or someone on their umpteenth vehicle purchase, I wholeheartedly endorse CarMax.

I have never been to CarMax to purchase a vehicle- always went to a dealership. I dropped in and met with Chase who is very knowledgeable, explained everything about the process, and he was super sweet. What a positive experience this was for me. I highly recommend both CarMax and Chase.

I had a really good experience with CarMax as far as choices of cars, pre-approval online,and sending an 360 degree online. I had a good in person sales process and purchased the car. The only complaint I have is I would have thought the car would have been detailed better because it appears that I need to replace the windshield wipers because they are smearing on the windshield.

Yesterday I went into CarMax for the first time and traded in my old car and bought a new one. I had Darren as my salesman and he was awesome! I came 30 minutes early for my appointment and he got right with me. I came in already knowing what car I wanted to look at and we got the appraisal, test drive, and paperwork all done within 2 hours. I highly recommend Darren! I will definitely be referring my friends and family to him for future purchases.

Going to CarMax today was great and very insightful. I had Ruddy as my sales associate and he did a great job answering my questions and concerns. He was very professional and patient. Even though I wasn’t able to buy a car from CarMax today, he still continued through the whole process with me and showed me many vehicles that fit with my budget and desires. He also made test driving a vehicle easy and quick. If I were to ever buy a car from CarMax, it would be here and with the help of Ruddy.

I recently sold my 2017 Honda Accord at the Carmax store in Virginia Beach. The entire experience was excellent. I purchased a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 from CarMax in April 2025 with approximately 28k miles. Within months, I discovered significant underbody rust that is not consistent with the vehicle’s age or normal use. I brought the truck to a CarMax Service Center, where the rust concern was verified and documented by CarMax personnel. However, no correction or resolution was offered, and I was told the issue was not covered. This is not a normal wear-and-tear issue. The extent of the rust strongly indicates a pre-existing condition that should have been disclosed at the time of sale and materially affects the vehicle’s value.

I took about 2 months to actually decide what I wanted and had a few people helping . 2 from Newport News 1 was Dre and the other was Diamond. Absolutely wonderful and helpful. If Dre had not convinced me to do a 24 hour test drive I might still be searching. I worked with Darren for 2 months from the Virginia Beach Carmax so when I was close to deciding I thought it only fair to ship the vehicle from Newport News to Virginia Beach for one more test drive and decided to purchase it. I have some issues with the vehicle but have been told and promised that these issues will be addressed and have faith in them that they will be. I have recommended Carfax to anyone that I know are looking for a vehicle. My daughter has purchased 4 vehicles from Carmax. I highly recommend them and will use them again if ever in need of a New Vehicle. Thank you Darren, Dre and Diamond.

I have now bought two cars from Andrea in under two weeks! She is amazing, helpful, and not pushy. She took the time to understand the intricacies in replacing a totaled vehicle for my teen driver. Andrea G. Was so helpful that I ended up picking something for myself too. The first car I wanted to test drive had a dead battery, she took the time to have it diagnosed/fully checked over and scheduled a time that worked with my crazy schedule. I use to preach carmax to everyone I knew after multiple vehicle purchases from Carmax in Virginia Beach, VA.... Today I lost faith in carmax. Their "whatever" point inspection and the amount of money they make on vehicles that didn't meet their standards that they purchased from people selling their vehicles to carmax, would be auctioned off at their used car dealers Tuesday morning auctions gave me hope that when they put a vehicle on their lot always exceeded my expectations..... not after today..... I wish I could post photos of the amount of RUST on a vehicle they tried selling to a 70 year old man whom was not physically able to get under the vehicle to see for his self and asked the salesman "is the under body rust free?" And his response was "yes its good to go" and this 70 year old man completed all the paperwork and was waiting for his approval from his bank. He reached out to me to check on it when he found out i was onsite looking at a different vehicle and found CRAZY amount of rust on the vehicle I was looking at. I really hope this is not the new norm for carmax!!!! Please do better!!!!! Update: Figured out how to upload photos - see for yourself

My first experience and first impression wasn’t a positive experience and gave a 1 star review. My five star review is due to an employee named Jordan. She asked for the opportunity to make things right after the bad experience. I found a vehicle that was out of state and covered the shipping costs for me. The vehicle was everything I was looking for and she made the experience enjoyable and made sure the experience start to finish was stress free. Her commitment through the process was impressive providing texts and calls providing updates and addressing all questions. I highly recommend requesting her for your shopping experience which is a significant part of the process.

I had a wonderful experience with CarMax getting just what I wanted at a fair price. I was a little apprehensive having a car shipped from another state, but CarMax kept me in the loop during the transportation so I knew exactly where it was and an estimated time for arrival. Once the car arrived, I was not obligated to purchase it, but , wow, this car was so beautiful and everything that I wanted, so I drove off that day a new car owner. I would recommend CarMax to anyone looking for a car outside of what is available locally.

I can't rave enough about how satisfied I am with my new car and the sales process I experienced at this location! My salesman Will Clark was knowledgeable, professional, patient, and empathetic while guiding me through my purchase. This is my first luxury vehicle, and he ensured I understood the importance of getting a warranty, cost of maintenance and upkeep etc. Most importantly I drove away in my literal dream car with peace of mind.
