Super easy. Well laid out and easy to maneuver. Friendly staff. Great experience.

Well run landfill that gets you in and out fairly quickly. Make sure you have either a local driver’s license or something showing you are a resident.

The page says they close at 5pm on Saturday and that is incorrect. They close at 4:30pm don't drive out there if you are not going to make it by that time the gates will be closed.

I go here all the time and the atmosphere is terrible. Employees are rude with making demands to the general public rather than asking or giving directions. This is second time I was forced to jump into a container to pull out trash I put in: a plastic tree in the recycling container (isn't plastic recyclable?) Another employee was screaming at a driver that pulled up behind me at a secondary container stating that he can't wait behind another vehicle. Seems pretty excessive to make such demands seeing that there were city trucks parked and moving behind each other around the whole landfill.

The Virginia Beach recycling center on Jake Sears Rd is terrific! Having the ability to dispose of a wide variety of household waste and proper disposal of hazardous waste is a great blessing. The guys at the hazardous waste recycling area are especially friendly…thanks guys! Our last residence in Illinois had nothing like this, so we are very grateful!

Very quick and easy to dump all kind of stuff. Terrance was helpful and friendly. Felt better option(budget friendly) to dump our furniture and mattresses by taking a uhaul

Love the workers there. The hours really work for me and I love the layout for being able to drop off the cardboard, metals, aerosols, hazmat, garbage, concrete, and yard waste!!!

I have visited this location multiple times with bulk items and renovation debri since moving here and every single time I go everyone is so beyond helpful and kind! It truly is a joy to throw my garbage away! Thank you for being so nice and helpful and helping me get in and out quickly! Appreciate what you do!

Better if you live near the Va Beach-Chesapeake boundary, but a good place to get rid of stuff that won’t go in your trash or recycling bins. Closed Sundays and Mondays

I would give it five stars if there was someone to help me get heavy items into the dumpsters. I'm seventy four years old and only five foot three inches tall. I guess next time I'll just call for a pickup from my house. It is organized real well. There are plenty of containers.

Every time I go to the landfill all of the employees are very polite and professional! You can drop off regular house garbage, scrap metal, cardboard, hazmat, and lawn debris. Be sure to ask at the front gate if you have any questions about which section to go to, they’ll point you to the right place. I appreciate all of you!

I had to dispose antifreeze and motor oil…At the checkpoint show your id then head over to the big blue sign “HHW” on the right side..pull up and wait in line.. there’s a huge canister for motor oil on right and a canister for antifreeze left side .. after dumping.. throw empty container in the black bins…paint and other chemicals go in a shopping cart.. hope this helps

The dump to the dump to the dump dump dump not the furniture store. The actual dump residence in Virginia Beach can get rid of their Waste there free of charge so I go there periodically Declutter the house and what not it’s very centrally located right by the interstate so it’s a hassle to get to. I would advise you to check hours of operation as well as guidelines on acceptable junk, yes, they refused to take certain items too many to list here, but I would check the cities website. If you have the ability I would take advantage of this useful resource for Virginia Beach residence.

Went to the landfill for the first time last Saturday. The staff at the front gate were exceptional and directed us what direction we should go and what signs to follow. Very well organized and staff was exceptionally helpful and informative. I'd like to add that the few negative comments on this website were unfounded because the problems the people had could have been avoided if they had read the website. It clearly states restrictions.

It's a landfill. Easy to teach all areas where different items are collected. Stay is pretty helpful when needed. Caution plan accordingly, they will close without notice based on potential weather conditions. No updates provided via website or answering machine

My father passed away and I borrowed a truck that belonged to my daughter to take his things to the dump. I do not own a truck! They would not let me gain access because the truck was commercial. Paid taxes for 45 years, needed to use this service once and wasn’t allowed because I don’t own a truck! Thanks for nothing. My daughter is glad she moved to Richmond!

I love this place. I go here regularly. They have a great menu and the beers are always cold. Kidding. It's a dump. No literally it's a dump. Well organized once you figure out where stuff us. If in question ask the staff, they'll square you away. One item to keep in mind: closed on Mondays and need to bring your DL to show residency.

The Virginia Beach Landfill & Resource Recovery Center is located in the western part of the city on Jake Sears Rd. near the Chesapeake city line. It is not too far off of the Centerville Turnpike and is essentially just south of Regent University. In some areas, there isn't parking per se, but there are spots to get out to dispose of the items you are looking to get rid of. My visit here was on March 9, 2021. Sometimes it seems like you may go through some back roads to get here, but it really isn't too bad. Once you get to the entrance, a staff member will be there to check your driver's license or other proof that you are a Virginia Beach resident, since it is only open to those residents. They will ask what you're looking to dispose of and your zip code for tracking. In this case, the reason I was here was to dispose of old gasoline from the gas can the prior year. It wasn't much, but I wanted to make sure it would be disposed of properly. The attendant asked if it was under 5 gallons, which it was, as that is the limit per visit. She then directed me to the direction I needed to go to dispose of said gasoline. After getting through the entrance and directions, we headed over to the gasoline disposal area. Please note that the roads in the landfill are not paved. With the directions given, it was quite easy to get where I needed to go. There were a few attendants there as well, and they also asked for our zip code for tracking. After that, I was able to go over to the motor oil dumping area to dump the old gasoline. Once that was done, we were done and were finished. The road in and out is essentially one big loop, so make sure to follow the directional signs when leaving as well. The regular hours for this place is Tuesday through Saturday from 7:30 am to 4 pm. They are closed on Sundays and Mondays. This coincides with the actual trash collection dates done in the city. There are times where they may need to close early or temporarily due to weather or other safety reasons, but it doesn't seem to happen too often. Overall, even though you would think it looks like a mess there when dropping waste off, they actually have a pretty good setup and really works like a well oiled machine. The staff were friendly and made the process easy. Although I only came this time to dispose of gasoline, there are many other items that can be safely disposed of. They do have a list of some common items that they will not accept on their website, so be sure to check that first before coming down. If you are a resident of Virginia Beach and need to dispose of certain items that can't be done through regular trash or bulky item services, this is your go to place to dispose of said items.

As a local to Virginia Beach this landfill is the best accomodation to all residents of Virginia Beach and vicinity. Great staff, helpful, attendant at the gate is awesome and they make sure to check Virginia Drivers License to enter the dump site so no other than local residents can dump their trash and junks here. Great work 🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽

The landfill is well run and organized, and everyone is very polite and helpful. One of the employees was dumpster diving and pulled a grill and smoker out of the trash pile after we heard him calling his buddy on the phone to ask him if he wanted them. We tried to pull out two metal letters and the same employee told us to put them back because we aren't allowed to take items out of the pile . 🤷♀️

Update: love the place, but it should be open on Mondays! ——— The entire Virginia Beach Trash Collection Department needs some love! They’ve been recently protesting for good reason. I’ve been a resident here for 18 years and they never fail me. They’re the best and so is the landfill. I haven’t been to the landfill in a few months, but, honestly I enjoy going. This is really a pride to have in Virginia. That sounds nutty, but, for those that haven’t taken it in you should find something to ditch just to check out the organization and thoughtfulness these people out there are doing with our refuse. In fact, not to worry to the trash crew and their worthy protest, if they are out a few more days, or weeks, I will just take it myself to the landfill. I really don’t mind.

Virginia Beach residents are blessed to have an incredible Landfill with exceptional employees. It is very well organized and clean as far as landfills go. The employees are walking around picking up nails and sharp objects so we don’t leave with flat tires and everyone is so friendly. Seems like a happy place to work with such great employees. They have good hours too!

If you need a landfill to loke, this is it. Easy in, easy out, no odor, well organized and managed. Make sure you have a valid VB address on your license or bring a utility bill showing your name and address if your ID is from another state.

Our landfill location in Virginia Beach is great. I've lived in many of the cities in Hampton Roads and by far VA Beach is the best. A much cleaner experience. It's all outdoors unlike everywhere else where u have to go into a building that stinks terribly and draws long lines fast.

Wow, I am so not shocked at how popular the lady at the gate is! Every time I use the landfill, no matter what the weather, she's always cheerful and super competent. Everyone else I've dealt with at the landfill have also been very helpful.

This place is amazing. It sounds crazy to say some of the best service and care comes from a place you dump trash and debris!! Lol! But it's TRUE! The lady at the gate is so sweet and very helpful. I had no idea what to expect, if I had to sign any papers, pay anything, etc. I was floored how organized and thorough they are and didn't have to sign up or pay fees or anything. Just drive up, tell what kinds of items you have to dump and they tell you where and you drive up, dump it, and go! Way to go Virginia Beach for doing something so positive with trash and recyclables!

This is a great place for residents to take advantage of. Free disposal for common household trash for VB residents in a private vehicle. Just be aware that it CLOSES FOR THUNDERSTORMS IN THE AREA. Even if it's not currently raining. If there is lightening nearby, just wait for a clear day to go. Especially if you're paying for a rental truck to haul waste. A little frustrating, but understandable.

I've been utilizing this landfill for over 20 years and I'm always welcomed with a smile by the extremely helpful staff. It's a Dump for heaven's sake & yet these people are so happy & courteous. Many service oriented businesses could use inservice training on customer service from them.
