It was great! To sign in to my online offer was very easy and self explanatory. My tire blew as I drove into the parking lot and they were able to still accommodate me with my original offer. They were great and kind. I appreciate their help more than they'll know.

Carmax are a bunch of liars and scammers, Bought my car they claimed they did 125 point inspection yet when I went to check the fluids The coolant was practically empty, the wiper fluid was completely empty, and the oil was black. there are also scratches on the car that were not pictured in the listing online, And these aren’t tiny little scratches it’s probably 7 inches long on the back of the car. The passenger side window button does not work And one of the tires has cracking on the Sidewall. That means they didn’t even do the most basic parts of an inspection before they sold me the car so who knows what other problems are lurking. I came back to get it serviced and everything topped off and then they had me sitting there all day Claiming somebody told me it was a day drop even though the guy on the phone asked me if I wanted to wait, which implies that it’s not gonna be that long. I would never buy another car from here unless you plan on doing your own inspection after. They charge premium prices and then don’t do what they say they are going to do.

Bought a Mercedes for 35K and took it to my mechanic for a check up. He found that the rear rotors were heavily rusted, there were deep cuts in the tire treads of the front left tire (like someone cut it with a razor, you could peel back the treads), and the windshield wipers were leaving streaks on the windshield. I scheduled an appointment to have CarMax tighten things up because their "125 point inspection" apparently does cover rotors, tires, or wiper blades. Of course this process took longer than the 10 day return window and I was just told that rust on rotors is normal, the gashes on the tires aren't deep enough to expose the wires, so we will not be addressing them. We did find that the wiper blades were worn so they were replaced and your vehicle is ready for pickup. GET YOUR CAR CHECKED BY A MECHANIC BEFORE YOU BUY!!! IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MUCH YOU SPEND, THEY WILL NICKLE AND DIME YOU.

I worked with multiple people to deal with 3 vehicles. On one day, I sold my Crosstrek to CarMax, as it was no longer needed. Then, 2 days later, I traded in my Armada for a Nissan NV 3500 passenger van. I was looking for this specific van online and when a good one became available in GA, I reserved it online and paid to have it shipped up to VA. That process took about a week. Once it arrived, it was just a few days for them to thoroughly inspect it and clean it. They even touched up a paint gouge on the bumper for me. I worked with Mo Karama and Mark Pinho on the purchase of the van. Mark was very patient as I had forgotten the title for my trade in and waited for me to run home to get it. They made sure my van was beautifully presented and ready to drive away happily. Thanks to all the CarMax Woodbridge staff for working together to make this complicated interaction involving 3 vehicles smooth and successful!

The only way this experience could have been worse was if it was a dealership. They gave me two guys who were ignorant to cars to deal with and were constantly belittling. They were buffoons who had no concept of cars their strengths and weaknesses, internal workings, etc. They constantly screwed up my test drive appointments. They made it so hard to update my test drive appointments with the correct email and phone number that they kept messing up. I got passed around between several customer service reps. They still messed it up. Then they kept calling and calling to confirm the same appointment numerous times. Once there the car was filthy inside. The one time I had a test drive scheduled during the bad snow storm here in VA and they didn't in do anything to take care of their lot. There were tons of staff sitting on their butts but no one out shoveling, salting, or plowing. The lot was dangerous and had no where for you to park your car to actually do your test drive. Buying that was tedious and took forever. Their back room is dingy and was crowded. They also still haven't sent me my title and it's been over a month. Wouldn't recommend.

I recently sold my car to CarMax and had an excellent experience from start to finish. I chose CarMax because I preferred not to have strangers coming to my home to view the vehicle, and the process was incredibly convenient. They offered me a very competitive price, which made the decision even easier. I had the pleasure of working with Yulonda, who truly made the entire process smooth and stress-free. She was professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to walk me through every step, ensuring I felt comfortable and informed throughout. Her outstanding customer service saved me both time and unnecessary stress. We had an incredibly smooth experience selling our Honda Odyssey. We were able to set up an appointment online and complete most of the paperwork electronically. When we arrived, they quickly inspected our car, we signed the remaining paperwork and were out of there in about 30 minutes. Tishera was great to work with and make for a smooth experience.

I highly recommend to sell your car there! We had a great experience. Super easy, fast and professional. To get an offer online and setup an appointment took really only ten minutes. When we arrived there we got served right away. We got the money what they offered and the whole process only took 20 minutes! Absolute outstanding!

Had a positive experience selling car for first time. Sim was very helpful and patient. Submitting documents in advance and making an appointment seemed to help the process go smoothly and quickly. It felt too easy and simple and they provided a Lyft ride back to residence and overall very straightforward process and clearly communicated instructions online and in person.

Experience was good but they said they did a detail of inspections but no indication what was done. I had no idea when the oil needed to be changed or if it had been. The tires passed inspection but on the cuff of needing new tires soon. Took it to a dealership and ended up paying another 2,000 for things that wasn’t covered. Not happy but the salesman was nice.

Had a good experience buying my car but service could be better. They are slow. If you take your car in it will likely be there all day. Also when I called to get clarification on pricing for an oil change, two different people told me two different prices and I was confused. I expressed my confusion and Carla on the phone was rude and had an attitude as I told her my previous oil changes were less “well the prices went up a few months ago.” When I asked her for the out the door price AGAIN I would pay at check out (as I asked at the beginning of the call) she again caught an attitude “let me add tax for you” . Carmax, do better at training your employees how to answer basic questions over the phone and get Carla off the phone.

I want to report an employee working in service. Her name is Karla. Two days ago, I drove the car for change oil, and it was clearly written on my car display: Maintenance required visit your dealer. It significantly means that the oil needs to be changed. But when she asked me to go back and wait two days to pick up the car, she told me that everything had been repaired, but they didn't change the oil for me and charged me an additional 80 dollars! I am so disappointed that the service she is very impatient and ignores my needs.

I had an amazing experience at CarMax Potomac mills store thanks to Danielle and her manager Brian. From start to finish, the entire transaction was incredibly smooth and stress-free. Even though there were a few hiccups with my credit union since I was financing from outside, they handled everything perfectly and stayed on top of the process the whole time. Danielle was professional, patient, and knowledgeable, and truly went above and beyond. Brian was equally great supportive, efficient, and clearly committed to making sure everything went through smoothly. I really appreciate their endless efforts and attention to detail. Most importantly, I absolutely love the truck. Highly recommend working with this team

I’ve sold two vehicles to Carmax and it is the easiest and smoothest process. This week while selling my second vehicle I was working with Luis V. and he was absolutely amazing. We had a few hiccups due to my own situation and the state my vehicle was titled but he ensured a quick and easy outcome. He was patient and communicated so well with us. I can’t thank him enough for his wonderful customer service!

I had a very disappointing and uncomfortable experience at this CarMax location. I scheduled an appointment online and arrived on time, but was kept waiting while the associate repeatedly questioned my ID, pay stubs, and even the spelling of my name, despite everything matching my driver’s license. I was already pre-qualified, yet I was treated as if my information could not be trusted. The associate specifically questioned how I accessed my pay stubs after seeing Gmail open on my phone, even though he asked me to email the documents. He implied that my pay stubs were questionable and asked whether I had an employee portal, which I do, and that is exactly where the pay stubs came from. I was simply re-opening the same documents I had already provided. This line of questioning felt unnecessary and accusatory. I also receive child support, and although I provided official payment summaries (which I have successfully used for housing, car purchases, and other financial applications) the associate refused to accept them. He insisted on an actual court order, something I have never been asked for by any dealership or lender. Because I did not have the court order on hand, he removed that income from my profile entirely, which materially affected my financing. He repeatedly told me that “every dealership does this,” which is simply not true based on my prior experiences purchasing vehicles. When I asked to test drive the vehicle I was interested in, I was told I could not do so unless I completed a full financing application. I would not have agreed to this had I known it would result in an extremely harsh credit inquiry. That inquiry significantly increased the APR/interest rate I was offered, which negatively impacts me now as I am still actively shopping for a vehicle. After I declined the car due to pricing and overall discomfort, the associate’s attitude changed. He became rude and dismissive, loudly told another employee across the store to “cancel everything,” and spoke to me in a condescending manner. I had no issue with the car not being held. It was the unprofessional behavior and lack of respect that stood out. Overall, I felt pressured, distrusted, and disrespected throughout the process. This experience did not align with CarMax’s reputation or the customer-friendly experience they advertise.

The entire experience was seamless. The staff at the location greeted me and began the inspection after about half an hour. I sat down with financing and was able to finish selling my car. The whole experience took less than an hour, and I got a Lyft ride home incredible experience, I only go with Carmax versus the dealers and competitors!

This was the worst car buying experience I have ever had. The seller did not know or understand the features that were advertised on the Carmax website and what was on the vehicle itself. In particular, he had no idea of the safe in the console of the GMC Sierra, or the combination to it, and the truck bed cover did not exist, but was marketed on the Carmax website. In attempting to work through this, I stated I would research and send a link to a truck bed cover – which I did (noting this was an $800 cover, where they range from $500 to over $22k) and Carmax would order a new console safe. The sales manager acknowledged receipt of my email and that the information was coordinated to his management to order. 1 Month later - Whoever ordered the truck be cover ordered the wrong size. New console was installed. Sale manager stated they would order a new cover and put it on as well as waive processing fees for the trouble. 2 MONTHS LATER – the cover was installed and I went to buy the car. It was not the cover I sent and no communications at all that the item I sent was not the one bought – CLEARLY I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT the cheap one that was put on there. The sales manager at the Carmax in Woodbridge, VA “Brian” was adamant that they did not ever agree to buying the one I sent, where I physically showed him the texts from his sales representative where there was no alternate information provided. He also stated he would waive processing fees… which was already stated a month ago by the OTHER sales manager - note the lack of communication... AGAIN. I told him the cover is inadequate for my needs and I was going to replace it with the one I sent them originally and that he should take the balance off the cost of the truck ($300) for their error in procurement. He refused. I have been looking for that specific vehicle for some time. It is unfortunate that I had to deal with the incompetence and ignorance in buying the truck I bought. Topping it off, I asked for them to mail me the maintenance record to at least understand what was done to the truck (it is a diesel, of particular interest was if the Fuel Filter was replaced during any maintenance done) – they said they would e-mail it to me. This note I am writing now is two weeks after the initial request as I had to call again to request the maintenance record be sent to me – and the catalyst for writing this review. I think that the management and training at this facility for both sales and customer service are lacking. I think that “Brian” should have NEVER been hired as a sales manager and, if anyone of any seniority in Carmax reads this, he should be sent BACK to training based on his attitude and mannerism to a customer. It is unfortunate, I have bought a vehicle before this one at Carmax, I will not be returning for another based on this experience.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this dealership. My dad purchased a car six weeks ago, paid in full, and we still haven’t received the title. The temporary paper certificate they gave us has already expired, which means we can’t even legally drive the car we fully paid for. We’ve contacted the sales representative countless times, and every time we hear the same excuse: “next week.” Six weeks later, nothing has changed. We even tried reaching a manager, but he’s apparently “too busy” to call back or help solve the problem. And don’t ever tell me to “call back if I need help,” because every time I call, no one actually helps. All I get are empty promises, excuses, and zero real action. This level of customer service is unacceptable. Once they made the sale, it feels like they stopped caring entirely. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone.

This experience is best described as "all's well that ends well." The first truck they brought up from North Carolina had a gash in the bedliner that would lead to water accumulating underneath. I was told they were not able to fix or replace it. So they brought up another, roughly identical truck. It was in perfect shape with 15K fewer miles. That also meant it cost $2K more.

I purchased an SUV from this dealership last week. The vehicle itself was a good buy and lived up to the CarMax mission. However, the level of customer service from the sales department was very poor. I did not encounter a single person in that department who provided anything close to good customer service. If you’re looking for a good car, this is the place — but don’t expect quality customer service.

We have officially stopped going to dealers to purchase vehicles. There's no better place to go than Carmax, no games, no haggling, no getting screwed. Just straight up business, take it or leave it. Same with the vehicle you want to exchange, it is priced straight up, no scams... Big shout out to Mikhail, he gave the best advice, and suggested the perfect physical and financial fit for us. We are so grateful for him. He even had a big yellow bow put on the hood! Best Experience Ever!

Ok so BOOM! I went to car max to sell my car and all imma say is “PUT SOME RESPECT ON THEY NAME” from the moment I walked in and spoke to Shep who assisted me prior to his lunch break which l didn’t feel rushed! He explained the process and I had to come back because I didn’t have my title. Once I came back Shep finished up step 1! Then idk his name but he does the car appraisals short loc was sweet (keep him in mind)Now they gave me an offer but I needed a lil More because I’m one of them gov worked so I’m short. So I asked to speak to manager and the sweet car appraisal spoke to them. Once the manager came out they gave me a better offer which was just enough to get My car. I almost cried and i asked for a hug because she didn’t have to. So car max will work with you 🥹so now I’m with Sarah who is so Funny and kinda regardless of who sits in front of her. She explained how everything worked In detail and made sure to cover all the bases. She was so knowledgeable I had to ask how long she worked there “A few months” NEVER would have guessed. We of course spoke about life while we waited for my check to print and she def gave me a KEKE 🤣! I was her last customer of the day and she also made sure I had a Lyft home which Shep told me about and assured me I was good to let my mom go home. Yulonda 1st off the smile on her is so beautiful . Now she was refilling all the desk with the car max bag and i loves me a company bag (I always get them if they have em everywhere) so I kinda ask for one. She smile and said “Of course you can” and listen then made my day 🥹 I was at car max for over 2 hrs 🫠 but I was cracking jokes with Doc in between them selling cars and talking to everyone who wanted to chat. So I never been to car Max and didn’t know what to expect and I honestly see why y’all always busy. The customer service at this location is amazing. Each person I mention was instrumental with me being able purchasing my vehicle which I am beyond grateful for. One day I’ll have Carmax money and be able to sell my car to Carmax again, but actually buy one from you all this time so till the next time we meet again

So far my experience has been pretty good. My salesperson was pleasant, not pushy and informed. I purchased a Mercedes so I took it to my Mercedes mechanic and provided my salesperson with a list of items noted. In general, my car was in decent shape which was a pleasant surprise. I am now scheduled with the Carmax repair shop to correct the most pressing matters. If this process goes well, I'll be more comfortable giving a better rating but I need to confirm that you will stand by your representations and warranties.
