Purchased what was advertised as 3.0 "performance" engine (M54B30 out of a BMW e46 330i/Ci ZHP). Buddy of mine picked it up and he dropped it off and noticed it was an AWD oil pan which ZHP's did not come AWD. On top of that the engine harness was cut in every place possible instead of simply taking 20 seconds to unplug it from the ECU which is located in the engine bay.. but a blessing in disguise I guess since I've discovered the CCV is destroyed.. heater inlet/coolant pipe under the manifold deteriorated. Anyways.. notified the salvage yard and they gave us a VIN that the engine came out of which was the VIN to a coupe. Coupes also did not come AWD.. This engine came out of an E83 X3 (shown top right of the sticker). I've discovered 4 of the valves on the intake side upon removing the intake manifold look horrible which I don't blame them since all they did was rip the motor out (literally...) which I will attempt to clean up myself since I'm outside the warranty date. At this point this motor is going to run me $2500 with everything needing to be replaced minus potential cost of refreshing the head. The ratings aren't for show.

I had a great experience at this location and with Richard. He allowed me to drop off my boat and at a great rate. I am very thankful!

Attempted to call more than 3 times, each time I was hung up on or told I couldn't be heard without so much as two seconds to try and correct that/move around so that I MIGHT be heard. What kind of way is this to conduct business? It's the first point of contact and I can't even get to talk to the person.

This place has terrible service. I’ve called 5 times this past week to get a part I was left on hold each time for at least 30 minutes. After finally someone answered today I voiced my complainant and the gentleman on the phone told me I had to deal with being put on hold and told me to shop somewhere else. It’s crazy with the 2 start google rating they have you’d think their service would be better or they’d wanna to sell the product they have. That being said don’t call this place unless you want your time wasted

I wish I could give this company 0 stars, but it won't let me. It's been a long time since I've been spoken to over the phone by another company like I just was. I'm a small business owner that was trying to get a part from these people. I was told the delivery time would be Monday but the part never showed up. I waited until 3PM to call them to check on it and their main line went straight to voicemail. I left a message and nobody called me back. The next day, today, I found another number for them and someone finally picked up. They somehow had the wrong address in their system even though I just told it to them when I ordered the part. They didn't even have the right phone number for me. They claimed they called me several times to deliver the part but I have no missed calls whatsoever. Of course that's going to be the case when they don't have any of my information correct. These people don't care about doing business. They seem perfectly content with letting a phone call devolve into a cussing match when they were clearly in the wrong. They offered me no solutions at all other than they would deliver it eventually "as long as I pick up my phone".

Very rude. Needed a part fast and he said he could do it. Sent me an email to do the payment. The email that came had a download that sent you to something to do a free trial, so I called back to see what I should do and he got rude and argued with me saying that I didn't have a pdf reader on my phone, which I do, I have Adobe and it's a brand new Samsung S22 Ultra. The file wasn't even a pdf anyways. Sketchy situation and rude service. I went to Brooke's Auto Sales instead. They have a large inventory and EXCELLENT customer service.

BE AWARE buying parts from those ppl!!!! I bought an engine from them and after I installed in my car and gave them the core , unfortunately the the engine was tosted i called them they want it back and they said they will replace it “for sure they will not cover any of labor costs “ , then i told them i dont want replacement gave me a refund and my core back !! They suddenly gave me 100 excuses , after i insisted they said that the core was sold for someone else !!! So they sold me in the first place a core for someone else !!!!!!! BTW when I purchased the engine they asked me to do 5 star review for a discount !!! STAY AWAY FROM THESE PPL

I drove from near Baltimore Md, they had the part we discussed over the phone and had it ready for me early than I was told. Good folks here, honest people. I would recommend them. Thanks for helping me with my 2001 Chrysler Town and Country minivan. PJ

If there was a possibility to give a a -5 star rating, I would have given. Sometimes we talk about bad customer service, but this place takes customer service to a whole new level to the point that it is actually customer disservice. Never seen in the US people with such a bad attitude, not even in Brooklyn NY. Junkyard does not mean junk people. This place is a disgrace to Woodbridge. Just wanted a tire wheel size 16 for my Honda Accord because could not find a new one, these people destroyed my day with their bad attitude. Try any other place if given a choice, go to this place only as a last resort.

Got the parts I needed in 2 days for half the price of another local junkyard. Hard to beat that. Guy at the front desk didn't say much but wasn't rude and found the parts quickly. I'll definitely use them again if I need parts.

Rick at the counter is a character! Don't catch him on a bad day he can be very rude! But if you catch him on a good day, he's the nicest person in the world. It's very unfortunate that the business is run that way. We live in a customer service-based world and their customer service is terrible, just look at those negative reviews!

I would leave no stars if I could. I called just yesterday to order a part and even GAVE MY CARD INFO ON THE PHONE and was given a ref number and was told that my card would be ready today after 12PM. Today I call and I was told there is nothing in the system for me and that their system was down yesterday so they couldn't have taken my info or even answer their phone. I have screenshots of our 3 min convo yesterday Nov 3 in which i did give my card. This place is poorly managed and the customer service is god awful I do not recommend this place to anyone. Not reliable at all.

This is a horrible salvage yard. They say they guarantee their parts but after getting a supposedly “good” cylinder head from them , the machine shop tells me after pressure testing that I have at least two bent valves. The shop offered another cylinder head but I am already out $180 dollars on labor on a busted cylinder head and all they offered was $25. I wanted them to help meet me in the middle but now I am out the cost of a valve job and new valves. This yard is terrible and their business is not customer friendly. Stay away and go to a more reputable junk yard if at all possible.

Rick was friendly and so helpful on the phone and email. He helped carry my window to my car. Saved me from driving with a windowless door in the freezing cold. Thank you so much!

Rude and unprofessional man that answers the phone.. Horrible to do business with so stay far away and go somewhere else. If you call for a part they will rush you off the phone and misinform you of the pricing. If you pay by phone you will get a bad car part. After I finally got my part I had planned on giving a bad 1 star rating. I was looking for a headlight assembly for my car. And was told hey didn't have the part. Seemed like he guy didn't even look the part up, he just "knew" they didn't. Called back a day or 2 later was told the same thing. Asked if he could look it up by the part # and oh, they did have it. He seemed very agitated that he was wrong? Quoted me 300$ (which was a great price). Called back a day or two later to say I wanted to buy the headlight. Not only did he tell me it was sold but they had shipped it off to a dealer. Wow really? No not really. Fast forward a couple months later, had a friend call about it, and wow, they had it. Quoted 350$ this time. Call a few days later again and oh, no we dont have it. Call again on a Saturday we do have it. Call Monday to pick it up was told again they didn't have the part. I said it was there Saturday evening. Was told we sold the last one later on Saturday. Call the next day, now they had it again. Paid for it and went to pick it up a few hours later... Now the guy who helped me and actually looked it up, Teddy, was awesome. Told him about what had happened and he took his time and showed and explained to me how things are supposed to work there. Hence a better rating after, we shall call him "R" refused to look up the item and twice just flat out lied and said they sold it. I know to ask for Teddy if I have any future needs. If I ran a company I'd like to have a guy like Teddy on my team...

Needed to replace a wheel after a recent winter storm after destroying one by sliding into a curb. After a couple other wheels from another distant merchant fell through, I called American Auto Salvage on the recommendation of our local G & G Auto Recycling. Ricky (Woodbridge location) & Teddy (Culpeper location) were BOTH really great to deal with. They did have the wheel and totally explained the process. Of course I needed the wheel yesterday and even though they were swamped with orders and had several inches of fresh snow all over their inventory, they had it ready by early afternoon the same day. I even got a call from them on my hour drive there to let me know that there were some cosmetic blemishes that weren't real clear on an earlier photo they had emailed me. I still checked it out and it was fine for my purpose. I really appreciate their great customer service, honesty, and thoroughness. I'd absolutely recommend them and use them again when the need arises. Thanks!

I reside in Alexandria Virginia and had bought tires, a bumper, a car battery, tail lights, car stereos from American Auto Salvage over three years - periodically. The parts are of high quality, and works perfect. I had no cause to replace, exchange or return any of the parts I had once bought. As a matter of fact, the customer service I experienced is the courage for my patronage. The lady who receives money is always on standby to expedite payment process, while the parts experts are superb- always ready to show you their computers to enable you make choice on the basis of either price or time of delivery. In as much as every customer can review service or products, I think it is very unfair to portray American Auto Salvage and their workers in a negative light. After all they are good and helpful guys.

This place has good quality parts. The work is done fast. Costumer service is great. I got all 4 of my tires replaced here with practically brand new ones and it only took about 20 minutes. Definitely getting all my work done here from now on.

I previously left a very negative review because of the service i received while buying parts for my 1988 toyota pickup. I took 3 trips down for parts that were not truely available. Also i paid in full for these parts which I ended up having to make a return for all of them. I was servely displeased at the time and swore i would never do bussiness with the owner Tony again. I then recieved a call today concerning my negative review and the bad customer service i recieved. He informed me they have made policy changes on their return policy on deposits when purchasing parts. He explained that he was also displeased with his employees over the situation. Im a reasonable guy and understand that a negative experience and review doesn't only effect the customer but also the bussiness and its employees. I extremely appreciated the fact that he personally called me about my experience and we worked out our differences. Good customer service is the key to running a successful bussiness and getting the consumer back in the door. I can honestly say before i recieved this call i would never do bussiness with American Auto Salvage again. Although now i would consider finding parts through them again. I value an owner that takes the time to reach out and fix a bad situation.

Extremely bad customer service , by the man at the right corner of the front deal. While ordering a part over the phone , he informed me that no part is reserved for a customer unless it's bought to which I did buy the said part. I came 2 months later to take the part, and while long, he became very rude to me on why I was taking the part then and when I asked if he still had the part or if he could return my money he asked me to come in 3 days and warned me if it stayed for 7 days longer I'll forfeit the money (which is fine , but I wasn't told this before ) and he was extremely rude the whole time. This is the second time he's been rude to me. Won't be going there again...

I spoke with the gentleman over the phone about a part that I need. He informed me that he had 2 of the items, I placed the order and received confirmation when the part was there. My boyfriend went to get the part. The gentleman was helping other customers, so he waited until his turn, a man walks in and jumps in front of my boyfriend and the gentleman told him he was not the next customer, the man still tried to get him to take him next, so he did and apologized to my boyfriend for the customers behavior, and for making him wait to get his part. Thank you for excellent customer service.

I agree with all the reviews here. I called and the guy couldn't tell me if he had my radio. told me to call the dealer and get a code that is on the face of the radio. I called the dealer and they told me they don't go by these codes but looked it up for me and gave me a pricing right away. I did find the code the guy from auto salvage wanted and called back to give it to him but it wasn't on his system so he got upset and asked me to come over. I went to see if maybe someone else would be there and find better service but it's only this guy and one or two more who I could tell don't like customers to come into their shop. The front desk person showed the guy who was supposed to help me, he was eating in front of the door (entrance). I spoke to him and he said for me to wait for him to finish lunch before he could help me out. It was 3:30pm and their shop closes at 4 pm. I understand his frustration if he hadn't eaten and it was so late but you don't take it out on the customers. I said yeah ok and just left. Even if they had a perfect radio for $20 dollars I would rather pay Honda $800 for their radio. Big difference customer service makes huh. If you want to speak to real human beings don't go to this store. Good luck if you do.

Have used them on and off for years, and every time they lie. I ordered a rim waited two days called back. Was told that I never spoke to anyone about ordering it. Expect I have the proof I called back, plus the young lady even confirmed my shop name, address, and phone number. This is the last time I will use them. All of them are rude and have no customer service.

Tony was very nice but was not honest with me. A cylinder head was to be shipped and paid for 2 weeks ago. I have called many times and was promised they would "called back within 1 hour". They never called me back! Not once! I cancelled the order.
