What clients say about Savers in East Providence (RI)

I know this is a thrift store, but omg it smells disgusting in here. The prices are crazy, considering so much stuff is literal trash. Most of the employees are miserable and have bad attitudes. They walk around and bump into you or get in your way and never say sorry or excuse me. It's like putting that dirty broken glass on the shelf if their mission in life and nothing will stop them. There is ONE nice person that works here, she's a younger woman, maybe college aged or so, I usually see her near the registers. She's very nice and helpful. Get more employees like her that actually have some customer service skills.

Fun place to go as long as you aren't looking for something special. A wide variety of different things. You do have to know your prices. Some things aren't always cheap especially since it is used.

The prices have gotten outrageous for used clothing and stuff. I found some clothes that I could get brand new at Walmart. You just have to know your prices.

Why ? I couldnt used 2 cards to pay my merchandise, they dont have this option or thy don't want to

My GOODNESS, this has to be the worst Savers I've ever been to. The prices are absolutely outrageous - $30 for a beat up pair of shoes, $19 for a worn pair of jeans, $13 for a tshirt or polo shirt! Horrendous. Oh and a Taylor Swift book for $150!!! Give me a break. Save your time and energy and go someplace else. This was a complete waste of my time. The greed is strong at this store that sells DONATIONS (which means they get this stuff FOR FREE). I will NEVER go back and you shouldn't either.

Great place for lightly used assorted items. If lucky, anyone can score big with new/nearly new staffs at throw away price (must be with 30% discount). Also, a word of caution, shopping there is addictive and anyone can get carried away with buying things which might prove unnecessary later...!

Question for whomever is pricing your clothing, Did you forget you're Savers??, selling second clothing at ridiculously high prices, for those prices people can go to Walmart, Target, Marshall's right next door etc, for same price brand new never worn clothing. And even better but yuck question, are you washing the clothes?? Some of the pants hanging up were clearly dirty.

On Saturday afternoon, March 28th I had an unpleasant experience at the Savers East Providence location.
During checkout, who I believe was the manager stood directly behind me, watching my every move, making me feel uncomfortable and embarrassed. She then approached me and claimed that every item I was purchasing was priced incorrectly. Let me be clear yes, prices at this store are significantly inflated, some items are priced the same as or higher than buying them brand new. If something is not within my price range, I simply would not pick it up. I would never switch a price tag. Her demeanor was unwelcoming and unprofessional, and frankly, someone with that approach should not be in a customer-facing role.Mar 29, 2026 -
Absolutely terrible experience. The workers at this location have some of the worst customer service imaginable. Truly sucked the fun out of this thrifting trip. This was once the best location in Rhode Island, and has rapidly became the worst.
I had to call someone over for help at the display case because no one is ever working it (unlike other Savers locations), yet throughout the store there were groups of employees standing around chatting. I was trying to test out a camera behind the case to make sure it worked, and the worker informed me that there are no returns, even if the item does not function.
Before deciding on my purchase, I went to the dollar store to buy batteries so I could test the camera. Sure enough, the camera was not functioning properly. I wanted to leave the batteries in the camera so the next customer wouldn’t unknowingly buy a broken item, but the worker claimed she “wouldn’t sell it if it weren’t working.” That’s hard to believe, because if I had not tested it myself, I absolutely would have been sold a non-working camera.
I’m also not sure who is pricing items at this location, but this broken camera was priced at nearly double what similar working models sell for. That alone is bizarre.
The situation became even more uncomfortable at checkout. We were being watched as if we were stealing. After we checked out with only three items, a worker came over, counted our items, and then claimed that one of them was priced incorrectly, accusing us of switching the price — which we absolutely did not do. She refused to honor the marked price and had an extremely rude attitude throughout the interaction. It was embarrassing and belittling, and behavior like that has no place in customer service.
My mother calmly mentioned that when an item is marked at a certain price, stores are generally expected to honor that price. The employee responded dismissively, saying, “Well, this is Savers.”
I’m not sure of her name, but this occurred on a Saturday afternoon around 2:00 PM. She was a middle-aged Caucasian woman wearing glasses who appeared to be a manager. If pricing errors are such a frequent issue at this location, then staff should be paying closer attention to inventory and labeling rather than accusing customers of wrongdoing.
I used to be a frequent customer and donor to this location, but after this experience, it is safe to say I will not be returning.Mar 29, 2026 -

My experience here is always a good one because I come away with a few cool things for just a few bucks hopefully. I have noticed the prices have gone up notably in the past 2 years. That's a little disheartening. However, is still a good place to find a few needed items or something cool.

Prices are ridiculous, often times much more than you would pay in a consignment shop or even more than the original price. Inventory is picked over and many items are not in good shape. This is a for profit industry where they get all of their merchandise for free. They ought pass on the bargains to their hard working staff and customers instead of their CEO making 0ver 5 million a year.

Some prices are not bad. But there's some stuff you can buy brand new in stores for even less than what they put prices for..

Dropping off my donations, I had to take everything out of my car myself. The men there just hung out talking. Not cool

Very very rude couple of ladies working up front. Insulting and mean. Tried to help them and they got very upset

Where do they find employees like this? Obviously I was looking for help. Wanted to buy 2 coats, but first make a donation and get a coupon. As they all stood around. "She hates taking her water pills." Who cares!? I won't force them to take my money, and you shouldn't either.

They've allowed greed to take over. They forget they get everything for free. They consistently price video games at or above ebay prices, when they're untested and not guaranteed. At least with ebay you can return a game. But here, nope. Disc rot is a thing. Old games don't always work even if they look like they will. I have several games in my collection that look like they are in great shape, but just won't work. One I got from savers. I even paid to have it professionally resurfaced. It still doesn't boot. They used to price all games at $5 each. Now you just have to hope someone who doesn't care about ripping people off priced stuff last shift. It's insulting to price free stuff above ebay prices with no guarantee. Then when it doesn't sell, they just throw it away to make room for new free stuff. What kind of business practice is that?? Shame on you.

Eh it s really alright… it s big different from CT and MA states.
Because this s one is over price. Clothes are mostly neat and brand(avengers $3-30) But the stuff is over price.
Over coward
Some staffs are ruder and terrible an attitude towards to other customers.Nov 20, 2025 -
Who's in charge of pricing here??? You want 10 bucks for a mirror walmart sells brand new not dinged up n covered in stickers for 8? Everything in this place is over priced for used crap. All the furniture is scratched bent and torn. You're charging 15 for a stool? Lmao this is a joke right? 25 for a stained winter coat that cost the same brand new at Walmart. Yall are tripping.

I’ve been going here since I was a baby (make that 21 years) and have noticed that recently there’s been a bit of price gouging— $7 for a used tank top when you can get a pack of brand new ones for that price… you’d think that savers wasn’t getting a bunch of donated clothes for free… a place we rely on to shop affordably with an infinite supply should not be managed this way.

Snagged this mele & co jewelry empress jewelry box originally priced at 360$ for 16.99! Perfect condition just needs a touch of cleaning! Absolutely beautiful!

I've only ever been to the Savers on Branch Ave, which I always liked, but this one is so much better. It's bigger, cleaner, and has a much bigger selection. The prices seemed cheaper as well. I specifically shop for women's jeans/pants and kitchenware, and I would recommend this location for those items. I didn't buy any books, but I checked out the selection and was very impressed.

This has been one of the nicest savers in the area for a while. For the past couple of years prices have gone up and up just like everywhere else, so I expect that. But yesterday the sticker shock was just insane. Everything was extremely expensive and in poor condition. You can get better deals on used clothes online on eBay or Poshmark or Facebook marketplace. We’re talking $19 for grandpa’s used loafers that are totally beat, add $40 for used Adidas sneakers that sell for $60 new. Most clothing items are $15-$40 and in terrible condition. Even with the 30% off discount they were offering to their members these prices are exorbitant. The store is extremely messy and not well curated. I feel bad for the people that really need to shop at thrift stores to save money because I feel they are being ripped off. I have always brought my donations to savers in the past because it’s a large operation and employs a lot of people in the local economy, even though it is for profit operation, I feel it’s positive. Drop off is easy too, but after seeing the price gouging yesterday I may consider other donation outlets.

I had an outfit that didn't have a price tag. A girl came over and guessed a price which was pretty high. She had such an attitude, and I didn't buy the outfit. I always donated quite a bit when I shop there and I like the 20% discount, but I'm not sure how to give the donation. I took it into the store and was told to just drop it in the bin then tell them when you check out. So the next time I did that and at checkout I got a lecture and was told I have to bring it inside first. The rules change with each employee!
The way things are priced also depends on which employee is pricing! I've seen items from the Dollar Store priced way too much!
The pictures that are supposed to be of the EP store are not accurate! I have never seen it so neat and organized. There's always isles with stuff on the floor. The shoes isle is awful! You can't ever find a pair together. I may find a shoe I like, then have to search for the mate. I don't even go down that isle anymore it's too frustrating. The toys are thrown on the shelf and you have to dig through to find what you may want,. Those photos posted must be when they first opened, because no one works on the sales floor all the employees are huddled together chatting, and if you happen to need assistance be prepared to get a mean rude employee who makes you feel guilty of something. I feel like I left with my tail between my legs!
Wow! What a change! After that horrible visit, and my bad review.,... I reluctantly went there again with my daughter. Every aisle was neat and clean! There were employees on the sales floor and asking if you need any help finding what you're looking for! Oh and not only helpful, they were very friendly! The toys were so neat and organized, and the shoe department was also neat and super organized! It was so so different from the last time I was there! 10 STARS to the management for such a total transformation!!Oct 29, 2024 -
Nice and roomy, clean and lots of merchandise! I had to get a cart! I wish I had more time to browse. The staff were friendly and helpful. They ran out of bags, and I forgot to bring mine, so it’s always good to have a reusable bag or tote to come in handy. They had a bunch of ties for boys, a great find, and great priced, too.
