I have used this location weekly for 25 years since moving here from Alaska. All the staff have been super friendly and helpful. Wish I could give them 10 stars!!

The absolute rudest people are employed here. Had a full load of items from a shed we were cleaning out. Backed up the lady said we're full can't dump. I asked her when would it be empty. She ignored me walked inside. Then I asked the guy standing at his truck. He ignored me. I continued to ask him three times before he acknowledged that I was asking a question. To which his response was "I don't know". I asked can you find out his response was "No". Wow!! This facility obviously needs some oversight and definitely a workshop on how to communicate with people

First trip recently as a new resident in the area and being unfamiliar with the layout and what is accepted, I asked for assistance. I was totally floored by how nice and how helpful the attendants were, not only with information, but offering to help with my items. A broad variety of items are accepted, the layout is easy to maneuver and the property is clean. Will definitely continue to use this location.

Staff helpful, easy to drive up and use. I did go during a nonpeak time though. Had lots of cardboard so it was nice to get rid of it all at once.

The staff sit in chairs and stare at their phones. They don't want to answer questions. They don't want to be bothered by customers. Very odd that Wake county allows these underperformers to absorb our tax dollars.

Although it’s a neat place to hit some golf balls, the owner is extremely rude. I’d take your money elsewhere!!!

Had a big load to take to the dump today and managed to unload it all. Shirley was very helpful with the whole process. Will be going again in a few weeks. Great experience.

Free, easy access. Staff was incredibly friendly and they had various dumps for pretty much anything. Not sure why it only had 3.7 stars

Sometimes I've been unlucky and gotten there when the construction dumpster is full. But nearly all the times I have dumped off everything from metal to tile to bulky items like grills or a giant cover for my hot tub, they have been fine. I have seen the staff call out those arriving with commercial vehicles or without license plates and they refuse to accept their stuff, As per the rules. For construction debris you have to be a homeowner not a renter and proof home ownership. With a little preparation you're an easy time. The downtown Cary site is great too. As far as staff goes, I mean they're in charge of garbage and waste that nobody wants, It's not like It's realistic to expect their answers to be as if they were trained by Chick-fil-A: "my pleasure"

Great place to throw trash away! Always has fast service. People always going in and out quick. And the staff is always nice! Wake county residents only!

Beware the trash troll! If you want to be unfairly discriminated against while other patrons come and go without issue, this is the place for you. Some of the staff here can be unnecessarily difficult, arbitrarily deciding you can’t throw something away for made-up reasons. Don’t bring construction waste here—like many other commenters have experienced, you’ll likely be told the bin is “full,” even though there’s clearly visible space below the fill line. As others have mentioned, the trash troll here can occasionally go on a power trip, and if you’re the unlucky person they decide to target, you’re going to have a bad experience. Don’t risk it if, like me, you had to drive over 20 miles, only to get stopped by the trash troll.

Never had any issues until my experience today. Very hot day, the real feel was well above 100 and I parked at the end out of the way like i normally do. I was approached and I was told to turn off my vehicle. I explained I have always parked at the end when I have my FULLY disabled child with me. When I explained this to him he said "well, you need to hurry up and unload your car". While this man was infatuated with everything I was throwing away he allowed others to back up and leave their vehicles running. When I asked why he wasn't asking everyone to turn off their vehicles he told me "to not worry about how he does his job" and that they were "quicker" If you're going to enforce rules you need to enforce them on everyone not discriminate against certain people. He started yelling at me because I had to toss the last bag because my child was starting to cry in the heat. Very uncomfortable situation.

Had to listen to one of the ladies that works here complain about a few particular pieces of garbage for the entire time that I was there. Which could’ve been avoided if she had been doing her job and pointing people in the right direction instead of being on her phone. Instead, she complained and pointed fingers at me saying it was my fault when she had to dig out the trash that didn’t belong. While I understand, this may be a tough job to deal with. You should probably be a little bit more proactive instead of just making it harder on yourself and everybody else.

The county needs to get a new contract, most of the time they don't want to take trash and junk at this dump. They have a lot of excuses and they try to give you a map telling you to go to another site. It's gotten so bad that you may as well take garbage to another site. Somebody with the county needs to get this site straightened out. Maybe if enough people complain they will do something about it.

Best dump I've ever been to. I got rid of furniture, garbage, cardboard boxes, old pots and pans (metal scrap), and some old computers (sat/sun only). Just respectfully follow any on-site instruction you get from the folk(s) working there. All my visits were super quick and easy. And free! I'm astounded that any government service like this would be open 7 days a week. That's amazing. Thumbs up to Wake County on these sites. FYI, this is the only convenience center I visited or needed to visit. Met all my needs.

Make sure if you have a trailer with 2 axels, box truck, or an inclosed trailer you PRINT out a permit prior to going to any wake county dump.

I haven’t had a bad experience here yet, since we moved to the area this place has been a lifesaver for disposing of moving boxes, furniture boxes, etc. This is for Wake county residents only and is “free” as in no direct cost at the time of disposal, it’s paid for by taxes. They have really flexible hours; it is usually fairly busy on the weekends but we’ve rarely had to wait. You can recycle electronics here on Saturday and Sunday. For regular recycling (paper, plastic bottles, glass), you do not need to separate, but you do have to empty it all from whatever bag or box you carrying them in. Corrugated cardboard goes into a machine to be baled (if there are air pockets between the layers, that’s corrugated), other lighter cardboard (like cereal boxes) goes in with the rest of the mixed recycling. Other interesting things you can bring here for recycling/disposal: -Oyster shells -Clothes and shoes -Compostable food waste -Scrap metal -Construction waste (presumably DIY stuff you do at home, contractor waste is prohibited) Things you *cannot* recycle/dispose of here: -Yard waste (available at other disposal centers, just not here) -Hazardous waste, oil/sludge/, lead-acid batteries -Medical waste -Concrete -Asbestos-containing materials If you drive a commercial type vehicle, such as a heavy duty truck or van, I could see where they might turn you away. There’s a whole lot of construction contractors who would gladly take advantage of free waste disposal.

So disappointed just because we used my husband truck we can't drop the carbon box there we have small car and the truck is more easy to take the thras in the truck the old ldy said no because is a business truck so we don't alow to take our own thras there the employees need to take a better judgment not just for looking the car when they see isn't a construction waste

Terrible customer service, they are always just sitting around not doing anything and telling everyone where they can and can't put their items. The construction dump box is always closed and never avaliable for use. Only option they seem to be able to provide is to drive 25 minutes to another site and hope to babel to dump there. Huge frustration and inconvenience for a service we are paying residential taxes on and can never seem to use. Highly disappointed in the lack of responsibility and accountability in the employees at this site.

Who makes the rules here? They aren't posted anywhere on Wake County websites. This is the second time I've been turned away and not allowed to dump because of the vehicle I was driving. What sense does that make? I understand if I was trying to dump commercial waste and not pay but, I had two large bags of household waste and was turned away because I was pulling an enclosed trailer??? How Stupid Wake County. Also, maybe train your attendants how to treat people with a little respect.

Great place to dump trash, cardboard, large items, construction debris, and even a few other specialized things. Expanded hours are very nice. Often, though, machines are broken and bins are full, so, I've had to leave with trash still in the back of my truck a few times

Love this place. Super nice staff. I guess if your nice to people they are more inclined to be nice back. Even was kind enough to let me dump my wood!

Been using this site for many years. Staff is very helpful and they keep the area clean, orderly, and do their best to have containers swapped as needed. There are times when replacement containers are delayed.

This one is set up better than the stressful and nerve-wracking Deponie drive convenience center and the staff is mostly decent. But don't get there near closing. The graybeard guy likes to leave early, so if you're still throwing your stuff out at 6:57 PM he'll close the gate and holler insults at you. Rude as heck!

Had a really good experience here yesterday. The attendants were nice, and had some random guys just grab my heavy stuff off of my truck for me. Bring a little cash to tip in case that happens to you! It was super helpful after loading all that stuff up right before that.

Anyone know if they’re taking construction, wood, disposal today? Didn’t know service periodically closes to empty the bin. Would be nice to have this info on website or voicemail so I don’t have to be turned away and put up with grumpy old man. Very ineffective employees. They’re living up to bad government employees stereotype.

I usually dont review garbage stations but I feel obliged to write a warning. Just like others have pointed out, most often this location is full and you will come home with as much debris as you left with. “Tax money put to work”

Again? Really? For the second time i made the eight mile ride to the convenience? center to dispose of some scrape wood from a deck repair only to get all the way to the site to hear "sorry we dont have a container, you'll have to come back tomorrow" Really ! it's an eight mile drive one way for me to get here! It was about a month ago i made the same trip to dispose of a used mattress frame, Again! the same story ... no container you'll have to come back. I have tried calling ahead to check before driving the sixteen mile round trip only to find NO ONE will answer the phone at the site. The personnel at the site at the very least, should answer the phone or the site should post the containers % full capacities to give you some warning before you drive all the way there. I feel the word "convenience" should be stricken from the waste site title. Signed: Disgruntled customer, burned twice

Was very disappointed with the staff on-site at this facility. They were not helpful. I was there upon opening at 7:05 AM. I was told they were not taking residential construction debris. When I asked when to return, the staff had no recommendations--other than to say they will start accepting trash sometime throughout the day. I ended up driving to the other convenience center on Durant Rd. They are significantly more helpful at that location.
