Residents can drop off hazardous waste only once a week, on Saturday before 8am and 4pm. At least as of January 2026

There is no place to recycle styrofoam anymore. You must put Styrofoam in with bin number four which is just the general mixed garbage

Great service but quite honestly, a little poorly managed. Seems like about 90% of the time I go, one dump category is closed. It's usually due to a shortage of large dumpsters. Usually one of two garbage dumpsters or one of two recycling is unavailable. Household hazardous waste receiving has been shutdown for at least a few months while some construction is going on. This area typically accepts things like compact fluorescent bulbs, empty paint cans, pesticides, weed killers and similar items.

Don’t go on a Saturday or any time where employees helping might speed the process... if you want to leave when it is still daylight. Dumped my stuff in 5 minutes and 50 minutes later made it out of the facility.

Got yelled at for trying to put paper in the paper (mixed) recycling was told it cannot be recycled and I had to take it back home and put it in the trash. Ok, to the landfill everything goes then because county workers say so. The hazmat folks are usually nice, but the other employees exist to sit in chairs and be rude to everyone.

I been there for many years and never had a problem, there clean and organized. Just have to get familiar with the facilities.

It’s a state of the art facility but ingress, and especially egress suck. To exit, they route you through the busiest place of the facility, the multi-material area where cars are constantly backing in or backing out. Since they built this fairly recently, you’d think the boneheaded traffic engineer who came up with this design should have been aware that the exit lane should have been routed through the least busy area, not the most. Other than that, though, it’s a good facility and it’s easy to get rid of your stuff. I also like their hazardous materials drop. Be aware you have to stay in your car for that. They’ll instruct you to open the trunk or hatch so make sure you have all your hazardous waste organized so it’s easy for personnel to lift it out of your trunk or hatch. You’ve been warned 😎

Been here many times and the guys working here are quite rude and never lift a finger to help anyone that I've seen. Most of the time they're just sitting there doing nothing. Wouldn't come here anymore but don't really have a choice. In contrast, the hazardous materials guys have always been nice. Edit: 10 months later, went again, and though I'm not presuming they read this review, maybe others expressed their dissatisfaction, because for the first time they were more than helpful. Guy asked me what I had before I even got out of the car, and politely pointed me to where it needed to go. A grand improvement! Bringing it up to three stars.

Very nice and helpful staff. One of the guys working in the appliance center carried a VERY heavy microwave from my car to the bin. I wasn't expecting anyone to do that for me. The lady working in the battery center was also very nice. I like the way the facility is designed. If you're organized, you can visit all three centers and be out very quickly.

Really nice facility but the past 3 times I’ve been there the cardboard recycling was closed. I understand that they break down and I’m sure there are more boxes than ever, however the part I had a problem with was the employees there telling me and others to throw the cardboard in the garbage (area 3). I don’t bring my cardboard there to be thrown away… I bring it there to get recycled. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I’ve been taking my cardboard to the convenience center out near Knightdale (2nd closest place to me). The facility isn’t nearly as fancy but they seem to have all the recycling/garbage areas operating as they should.

I appreciate the helpful staff. They take a lot of items, you just need to know where they go. Just ask.

This multi- Solid Waste site is wonderful! Its in a great location in North Raleigh and very close to Wake Forest. It is really convenient. The staff are supportive and friendly. Check it out! You will be please to have a place like this for the special homeowner disposal jobs.

Great service and a well ran establishment. Plus it’s always a plus to recycle your trash or unwanted items.

Terrible. No one is helpful. Came first during lunchtime. They didn’t tell us anything. When we came around the circle (7) times they then said to pout the oil.

This place is amazing! I love how organized and easy to follow the signs to the correct drop off. Car seat recycling, cardboard, household goods, batteries, tires, paint & other icky stuff.... And if you can't figure out which section is right, the most pleasant helpful people with there too! It doesn't even smell like the "dumps" I remember as a child. When I picked up my composting equipment order a couple years ago, it was in another section and we read all about the science behind landfills. Truly amazing! That section is an advisor actual park. With the gorgeous weather, the park would be a great place to take a stroll!

Organized drop off for recycling ♻️ and garbage 🗑 is good. However frequently the bins are full and people start mixing materials. Supervision is not great for this location.

Easy going if you follow the rules, some patrons don't and make it harder on everyone. If you're not sure which recycle portal to use, simply ask. The workers are friendly but 'matter of fact'. Of course, they have to deal with Joe Public, so who can blame them, lol

Easy in and out, but watch out for Saturday visits, because it can get pretty busy. I sat in the car for about 30 mins before being able to unload on one Saturday afternoon. I've never had a problem on a weekday, though. Plenty of signage to direct you where to go. And if anyone is wondering where to unload bathroom fixtures like toilets, sinks, etc, this is the place. Dump into construction debris, which were bins 6 and 7 at this time of writing.

I regularly visit this location to recycle used motor oil and have never had any issues. Everything is neatly organized and easy to find and the employees there are always willing to help. Definitely recommend!

I'm from NY.. Up there, you get the third degree for any dump trips.. The wake facility has friendly folks and zero hassles. 👌

Excellent facility. They take almost every possible thing you would want to get rid of here, and for most of the items, they have a way to recycle them. I've taken everything from construction materials to motor oil to engine coolant here. They take tires, used paint, fluorescent bulbs. There's no excuse to harm the environment by pouring automotive fluids or paint out into your yard. Take them to the MMRF!

Easy in and out. Drop off large appliances to be recycled. Don't confuse with the convenience center hours, this place closes at 4pm.

They take so much different stuff here! Very organized facility, and the workers are friendly.

I've been going to the North Wake Recycling Facility to recycle and to dispose of my hazardous wastes for years. The hours are 8:00-4:00 p.m. which is much better than the past when the hours were more limited. The staff are always helpful. They have reworked the facility and it's very efficient to get in and out of except sometimes on Saturday mornings when it can be a little busy. They take the typical items for recycling like paper, glass and plastics. They also take old paint, finishes and pesticides. But, they also take cooking oil, fluorescent light bulbs, scrap metal, old computer, televisions, appliances and even your old electric toothbrush.
