What clients say about Wake County Convenience Center Site 7 in Raleigh (NC)

THE ABSOLUTE WORST. Everytime we go there, they is a new rule. "Can put that cardboard in the cardboard. Have to put it waste." it literally was corrugated cardboard, broken down with even the tape removed. The people that work here, RUDE. Went to drop off paint cans on Thursday-closed. Went again friday- closed and this was before 2pm. Went Sunday-closed so went to try to put it in construction waste because I'm tired of going there and people not doing their job. The worker threatened to take picture of my license plate if I left it there. Why do you make it so difficult to dispose of an item properly. No wonder people just dump thing where ever they heck they can! As someone else said, " the lowest common denominator works here" , truth.

Lowest common denominators are running this place. Don't expect much. Construction debris is randomly closed at certain times/days and the staff are plain bothered if you have a question.

Very easy to access. Hazardous household waste is only accepted on Saturdays from 8 to 4.

Frustrated… their website states they’re open 7-7. What they don’t tell you is for household items (appliances) that section closes at 4!! Drove there, wasted gas which could have been avoided. UPDATE YOUR WEBSITE!!!

Raleigh has closed the hazardous materials section. Building is gone and a sign indicating Construction Zone has been erected but there is no indication of same. An employee said they accept these items on Saturday only.

This convenience center is great in that it accepts a greater variety of items than any other in the area that I'm aware of. It is well laid out and organized, with signs directing you. My only complaint is that it is hard to keep track of some special times, like that paint is only accepted on Saturdays.

The slots for household waste/construction were blocked off on Sunday. Hope this helps someone.

The design is excellent. Gets you in and out quickly. The signs are easy to understand. Now the staff working there…. “Surly” isn’t even enough. “Nasty” is more like it. They are ALL incredibly rude and condescending. It’s unreal. I’ve never visited without encountering some kind of horrible attitude. Seriously people, if you hate your job this much, find something else to do.

Warning: appliances with plugs (eg microwaves) are taken, but only from 8am-4pm.

Best city dump I have seen in any city I have lived. Very well organized and staff is very helpful and friendly. Makes going to the dump a pleasant experience. Thank you. Doug Whiteley

I was able to dump what I needed. Buddy was very good and helpful as I had mobility issues. Everything was organized where items needed to go.

The place is well setup and I appreciate that they have this service for wake county but I’ve consistently had bad interactions with staff over 3 separate occasions with mixed and inconsistent messaging.

I appreciate having this service in North Raleigh, but it is so disorganized and the workers are consistently, unnecessarily rude. They disagree about what goes in which bin, whether they're full. They need to figure out better communication. It's frustrating most times I go. The park is great! Love the trails.

Every time a go here I’m so glad the service is available to me. Every staff member I’ve dealt with has been pleasant and helpful.

Convenient and accepts about anything needing disposal. Furniture - Appliances - Computers/TV’s - Metal - Oil - Batteries - Etc. Very organized layout

Well-marked areas specifying where to deposit each type of item. Staff more than willing to help! Kudos to them!

Amazing - organized, clean, comprehensive and well run! We should be thankful - and, as Wake County taxpayers - proud of this facility.

This convenience center has excellent customer service. Christine Thomas and Clarence White are excellent first points of contact. I was very satisfied with my experience and the professionalism by this team.

They won't take yard waste so they gave me the address of the facility in Raleigh that does and told me it was open all day. This was at 12:45. When I arrived at 1:15 it was NOT open! It appears the Raleigh location closes at 1 pm. One hour of driving wasted on my only day off. Now I'm carrying this load of tree branches until next Saturday. I'm disappointed in you guys!

Christine, who I believe is the manager, was an angel today. Others may not have worked with me the way she did. She got me in a hair before closing at 7pm, and we dropped off carpet. She was tuned in and very aware that I was in a rented truck, without me explaining anything. She was able to see that I would have had to unload the carpet back at my house and return the truck, starting all over again. She went above and beyond to ensure we were able to drop off the construction debris (used carpet). She stands out, and I appreciate that the site is here, 100% free and EXCLUSIVELY available to residents in the area. I encourage everyone to be like Christine in their level-headedness and ability to work with others. Thank you!

UPDATE: 2024 and it's STILL awesome! This is one of the most organized, clean Convenience Centers I have EVER used. Wake County wow! The folks who tend to the sections of the center are always friendly when I go and helpful at guiding me to the correct spots. I try to rehome as much as possible, but there's some stuff that just isn't possible to rehome.

Drove 15 miles from my house in west Raleigh to Deponie Drive to drop off residential construction debris. Arrived before 3 pm. Was told by a sarcastic male employee, that Center #7 doesn't take construction debris anymore. The website for Deponie Drive however shows no such message. It also shows the center is open "daily from 7 am to 7 pm." It is not. Closes at 4. So sarcastic employee tells us the only Center taking construction debris is #4 on Yates Mill Pond Road. We drive 23 miles from Center #7 to Center # 4. We arrive only to be told that Center #4 is not taking residential construction debris at this site today (Saturday) and that they'll be closing in a few minutes. Again, website for Center #4 says, "open daily 7 am to 7 pm." We ask the employee at Center #4 to help us find a center that is taking debris. He says, all the centers close at 4 and we'll have to wait until Monday. We drive another 13 miles home with the debris still in our truck. Overall, it took us 2 hours and 1/4 of a tank of gas to TRY to drop off debris at a "convenience center". No wonder people dump trash all over the sides of roads in Wake County! 1) Update your website. 2) Discipline your rude employees who are paid to help taxpayers. 3) Enable convenience centers to communicate with each other so taxpayers don't have to do your job. 4) Make it easier for taxpayers to do the right thing (dump trash at a facility) and harder to do the wrong thing (dump trash along roads throughout the county,)

Went here for the first time today. The woman working at the residential construction waste section could not have been nicer and more helpful. I am 60+ female and it took me several minutes to unload my truck as I was by myself. Thank you for making today’s task easy!

Wow, was kind of surprised! This is very nice facility. Definitely one of the nicest “dumps” I’ve ever been too. Only thing was, I brought an ungodly amount of cardboard boxes nested inside each other, not broken down. I didn’t think about the need to flatten them beforehand, so I gladly started doing it there and the cardboard guy kept trying to get me to throw all of it in with the regular garbage lol 🤷♂️

If you pay attention to hours and rules, you'll usually have a great experience. The people here are really helpful with great attitudes. The only real negative is the scrap metal bin that fills quickly. Logistics of having bins on hand and ready to swap are difficult I'm sure.

We use this site consistently. It is incredibly efficient and good. Concerning the staff and some of the other reviews, may I suggest that you give them some respect and realize that they have to deal with some pretty self-entitled people. The employees are good people providing a service to the residents of this city. They know what goes where and why, and do not need a protest every time someone is too lazy to walk twenty yards to a different bin, or to circle around to the other side for electronics, etc. Give them a hello and a smile instead. And enjoy this great service provided by the city.
