Very unpleasant experience, Kept screaming at people no room for glass bottles which was fine I had plenty of water bottles and cans to return. Needless to say we left before my husband punch him in the face that's how disrespectful he was. Never go here !!!!!
Very rude and condescending, my sister sent her boyfriend to grab bags so we could count and turn in all the bottles we have. Upon arrival the guy told him that they were charging for bags, so he called my sister and she wanted to talk to him. All she said was "You guys are charging for bags?" And he SCREAMED "They're my bags!" loud enough that I could hear him and my sister didn't have him on speaker. Definitely never going there again, I'll sooner walk to South Windsor's Recycling Center. 🙄
This place used to be awesome down on your luck people could go cash in their cans and have a couple of bucks in their pocket. It started when he decided that people had to use his plastic bags. Now he requires at least 100 of each bottle or can. Then with the return going up 5 cents he decides to charge $0.50 per bag. When I called to ask about it he started screaming at me they are my bags well you make us use them. It may be out of the way but go to the grocery stores they don't make you have a minimum and they don't force you to use their bags and pay for them.
Not friendly to new users, staff is very rude and unhelpful, seems to be more for larger commercial users as opposed to average consumers. Place is disgusting to boot.
I'm angry, this will be long, but I want to help people avoid making the same mistake I did as this ruined my day.
All I wanted was a simple way to recycle all of my items at one location for the appropriate returns. According to their website, that's what this place offers provided you follow their rules, which I tried to do. I showed up with a few hundred cans and plastic bottles separated into paper bags I'd saved from grocery shopping as that's all I had. I went on their website prior, counted all my bottles and cans, separated them, labelled the bags as well according to their instructions. I had accurate counts, but I didn't have the proper bags as I'd never recycled like this before, but they mention on their website that they will give you the appropriate bags, also that they take all cans and bottles etc so I figured I'd show up, talk to someone and learn the process. Shouldn't be too hard to transfer my already sorted and counted items into different bags. I'm clearly a fool for assuming so.
I arrive, get out and attempt to talk to an employee who is incredibly rude to me. I don't believe we spoke the same language, that's not anyone's fault and I don't blame him for that particular communication issue, but he was immediately antagonistic, made me feel terrible and would not help me understand what I did wrong or why he couldn't take my items, etc. I tried telling him I counted and separated everything already, I just needed bags, he kept yelling that they were closed when they clearly weren't. Nothing I could say would convince this man to help me even the slightest. I was furious. One of the worst interactions I've ever had with anyone at a business but I'm sure this dude deals with a lot of rough customer interactions so I'll cut him the slightest but of slack. Still, I'm just a nice guy trying to recycle, and he treated me like garbage despite my trying to follow every rule I could.
Whole process was a waste of time, very frustrating, and reinforces a broader issuer with recycling in America. It's comical because this business states they have a mission on their website. Do not be fooled. This place seems only to be concerned with making money. They do not seem to care about helping make recycling easier for the town.
My advice to the owners, if anyone even cares, maybe make sure your staff understands that people showing up for the first time may not fully understand how to best interact with your operation, and it takes all of 30 seconds of calm interaction to inform consumers. If you provide bags, make it more obvious. If you don't care about average consumers with maybe 100 or so items, say so. Don't pretend that you're something you aren't.
Not only do you have to separate your items by brand. I was told to count AFTER sorting it by brand. When I was reluctant, an employee offered me $45 for what I had, when I declined she tried to negotiate “What do I want for the bottles?” I went somewhere else & had $67 worth. Be carful they’re scammers. No way she couldn’t recognize over 200 extra bottles. Her and two other employees tried to convince me I was being silly lol.
Rude & nasty . I came here to recycle & I wasn't aware that they had to be separated a certain way. The guy was so rude to me instead of explaining the separation process he threw a piece of paper at me & shouted profanity in a different language. I was appalled ! He does not have to yell at anyone like that. If a person doesn't recycle on a regular basis wouldn't common courtesy be to just explain it like a normal human being? No professionalism whatsoever I wouldn't recommend for anyone to go there
The first time coming here was a fair experience and that's why I decided to go back. OMG the service was horrible and the lady that so called helped me was extremely mean and nasty. She talked to me like it was my fault she was the only one working. All of my bottles were in their clear plastic bags and she demanded a recount!! So I did it because I wanted my money. A guy came in with BLACK trash bags and she acted like he was the boss of the place. Very strange and odd treatment!! I understand alot of things, but being rude, mean, and nasty is definitely unacceptable. I demand an apology before I step foot on that property again. Bad for business...
This is not the place you go to as a first timer and expect for someone to help you through the process. I’m used to go to a sorting machine so I wasn’t prepared with my few bottles separated. The lady was VERY RUDE! I was showing my daughter how to recycle and this was not the place to do it. Im happy she was in the car while I dealt with the lady. She later told me that if I don’t precount she won’t take my redeemables. I think there was a better way to say that to someone who was new to the center. People were used to her behavior and I just felt like I would take my business elsewhere. I only gave it 2 stars because I did get my cash and the other customers were nice to me. Lol

First and last time I've ever been there today. The Middle Eastern gentleman that gives out the cash for the cans, was anything but. He was incredibly rude, and even yelling. He clearly needs to learn manners/respect. Absolutely disgusted with his attitude. It's just a matter of time before somebody punches him square in his face.
If you're looking to cash your cans this is your place, all you have to do is put 100 plastic water bottles in a bag and 200 cans in a bag and you avoid the hassle of counting them and they'll give you your cash . The owners and their helpers are very courteous and pleasant to do business with ‼️ PAY THEM A VISIT YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED ‼️‼️
This place is so easy to take your empty bottles and cans.. courteous and respectful people who own this redemption center.. just tell them exactly how much you have and they give you the money quickly.i love taking all my returns there ..
They don't take glass. Woman who worked there screamed at me, " no glass"! Also tons of homeless people who were filthy and asking me for money. May want to change the name to Can center as bottle is not accurate. Remember folks, no glass.
This place in awesome. When I lived in the area I would go here all the time. It's fast and everyone is so nice there. Wish they had something like this in New Haven county.
They are always very friendly and caring I have been going to them for over 20 years ever since they opened and I would not go any where else they are always good to me and my family
