Flew down to VA to buy a truck, and brought it to A&M to do a pre-purchase inspection. Glad I did bc the dealership basically lied about the truck being 100%, and A&M pointed out all the leaks, failing suspension, and 4 dry-rotted tires. If you’re buying a truck in Norfolk/Virginia Beach, I would highly recommend bringing it in before hand. Thank you Sophia and everyone at A&M for saving me $10k!

After posting my previous update, the owner personally called me to discuss my concerns.
He explained that there was a miscommunication with the front desk representative, and that an incorrect part was placed on the quote I signed, which caused the price difference between the approved estimate and the final invoice. He took accountability for the mistake and stated he would be addressing the communication breakdown internally and ensuring she mentions any changes to the customer going forward.
I appreciate him taking the time to call and clarify what happened. The vehicle has been running well, and I have not had any issues with the actual repair work.
While the situation was frustrating at the time, I do respect a business owner who steps in and takes responsibility. It also helps knowing how my initial visit went how transparent they typically are. For that reason, I am updating my review to reflect both the initial concern and how it was handled.
*****Sooo disappointed that I have to update this review. I previously left a 5-star review after a great first experience, which is why I returned.
This most recent visit started with a fan issue and resulted in replacing the coolant temperature sensor, thermostat, and performing a coolant service. I approved the digital estimate totaling $855.08 (see attached screenshot). However, when I picked up my vehicle, the final invoice was $915.46 — about a $60 difference from what I authorized (also attached). The totals on the final invoice did not match the approved estimate, and the price increase was not clearly explained.
During my first visit, the front desk representative I worked with provided excellent communication and transparency. This time, I worked with Sophie at the front desk and Ivan as the technician. I’m not sure if there was a clerical issue or a communication breakdown between the technician and the front desk, but the experience felt very different from my first visit.
I’ve attached screenshots of the text updates showing that after initially being told the sensor repair resolved the issue, I later received another message stating the thermostat also needed replacement. After clarification, we were told it had been broken during the repair process. That was not clearly communicated upfront.
While the vehicle is running fine, the inconsistencies in communication and pricing were disappointing. Needless to say, my husband is no longer comfortable allowing us to return for future service.
*************Previous review**************I actually found A&M Automotive by accident — I meant to drop my car off at the shop next door (Nice Guys), but I’m honestly so glad I didn’t move it once I realized my mistake.
A&M Automotive replaced my ball joints and also replaced my engine oil pan, which was leaking. What really stood out to me was their honesty and transparency. Just the Monday before, I had taken my car to the dealership for an oil change. They told me there was a leak and wanted to charge me a diagnostic fee to find it. Turns out, the leak wasn’t a cooler line like they suspected — it was actually the oil pan from the oil change they had just done. So unfortunately, I ended up paying for an oil change twice.
That experience was honestly the final sign that I won’t be returning to the dealership, especially since my car is no longer under warranty.
A&M Automotive made the whole experience stress-free. They took pictures and videos before doing any work so I could clearly see what needed to be fixed and understand exactly what they were doing. That level of transparency gave me a lot of confidence and peace of mind.
I feel safe, comfortable, and confident in the work they provided. If you’re looking for an honest, reliable shop that communicates well and stands behind their work, I highly recommend A&M Automotive.
I recently moved from England and needed some work done on my Mercedes CLA, so I decided to get my brakes fixed at this automotive workshop. Honestly, I’m really impressed with their service. They diagnosed the issue quickly, explained everything clearly, and completed the job professionally. The car feels perfect now, and the braking is smooth and safe. Their workmanship is excellent, prices are fair, and the staff is respectful and knowledgeable. It’s not easy to find a reliable workshop in a new place, but I’m glad I found this one. My second time back here, brought in a 2018 Ford Raptor with a whole laundry list of maintenance. They completed it all in a timely manner and found an oil leak from the turbo I wasn’t even aware of. It’s running in top tier condition and they saved me from an even more expensive repair down the road.
I’ve gotten my car repaired with A & M three times and each time has been a positive experience! They’re affordable, the receptionist Sophie is so sweet and knowledgeable. ❤️ 5 stars ⭐️
With in the past 5 weeks I have had to have two major repairs on my VW Tiguan totaling about $2500. At first I was a little Leary especially being a woman taking my car in for major repairs. Not of them but mechanics in general especially when they talk about going inside my engine. But I am glad I trusted these guys. They kept me informed every step of the way and now my Tiguan runs better than before. Absolutely 5 stars over and over again. They also keep very accurate records. Even time I go in to talk to someone, they are able to pull up my previous repairs to discuss the next course of action. Definitely recommended them!

I called around to several places trying to find someone to diagnose why my Dodge Durango wouldn’t start, but I kept getting the runaround for days. I’m not sure if it was due to the holidays, but it was very frustrating.
I then contacted this company and scheduled an appointment online for the next day. My vehicle was ready within two days, exactly as stated on their website. I truly appreciated that there were no charges unless I approved the work—no surprise or last-minute bills.

Went into A&M to get an oil change for my 2024 Lexus IS because the Lexus dealership here fully booked and don’t do walk ins. I’m here working on a contract and don’t want to drive back with the oil change light on. So I looked up a few places and A& M had awesome reviews. And they did not disappoint. They were truly professional and made sure everything was done correctly.
Everything went well , car is running fine with no issues.

A&M Automotives is THE BEST!!! I will never go anywhere else for my car. They are always so kind and professional, it’s truly the best customer service I have ever come across. I just had some work done on my brakes and they texted back and forth with me all day with updates. On top of that, the last couple of times I’ve brought my car there the work has been done in one day — dropped off in the morning and picked up after work! I always recommend them to anyone I can!
Don't understand how you make an appointment and have to leave your vehicle for 3 days. Why bother with appointments. I went on a Monday and they had cars from Friday they hadn't looked at. Who can live without a vehicle for that long when it's your only mode of transportation. The woman at the front desk was very condescending and rude. They may get great reviews for service, but good luck getting your car seen.
Maggie was very good…coordinating the repair of our Jeep Patriot. Text messages, communications, approval process of the recommended repairs—very good! Your shop replaced the clutch and flywheel/oil change/tire rotation, spent over 1K - thanks for the military discount too ??
Unfortunately—when my son picked up the car, he later learned the car would not shift properly; had to have it towed back to A & M.
My concern is that perhaps there wasn’t a full test drive of the car? Bringing the Jeep back, the Jeep was re assessed, the shift lock needed to be replaced for another 80.00. Why couldn’t this have been discovered before the car was deemed “ready for pick up”?! In fairness, I’m not a mechanic so maybe there’s more to the picture.

Honest review: I found this place on Google. It had really high reviews. I drop my car off at opening. Probably 9:15a, technicians are on at 10:30, and I recieved a text to pick up at 1:49. I get there, pay, and get my key. I turn my vehicle on and the windshield fluid light and tire pressure light was on. My receipt reflected as if everything including with oil change was done. I went back inside and waited patiently for tech to finish the job, he knows he didn't do initially because he informed me that he didnt even take my vehicle onto his bed. I just thought it was dishonest. At the end of the day it was fixed so 3 starz
Got a chance to get some repairs done, my whole friends circle go to this place for any tiny little to their biggest issues and are always satisfied, hence they recommended me too. I must say my experience was as smooth and nice as it can be. From the moment I entered the staff welcomed and listened to me properly which is very rare when you go for your car services. My job was finished even before time and I to my surprise I was home with in an hour.

I really want A&M to be my go to shop; I need to visit more to determine this. I found this shop on Google with a 4.9 rating.
The Good: When I initially arrived at 9:04 am, I was greeted by a friendly front end worker. I explained my issues with my vehicle. The check-in process was quick and easy. I told the front worker that I was a federal government employee, affected by this Shutdown; I was presented with a first time customer discount. They also have discounts for service members. Sweet! The mechanic (a Spanish speaker) who fixed my car was one of the best mechanics that I've ever dealt with. He was very knowledgeable about what he was working on. The manager also was very nice and seemed to be an expert on auto repairs.
The Bad: The diagnostic fee was a Little steep. I'm not sure if this is just a typical amount that most places charge, but it was a little high. The estimate that I was given seemed a bit high as well. I didn't have time to research what these parts and labor would typically cost in comparison to other shops. I was at the shop for 10 hours, since I didn't have a ride back home. At 6pm sharp, the lights turned off, and I was asked to leave; however the mechanic stayed late to finish up the repairs. I was able to wait while he finished up.
I came back in the next day because an exhaust clamp needed to be replaced. I wasn't charged for the repair. This was very appreciated.
Overall, this experience was above average in comparison to other repair shops that I've been to. I will be going back to get more work done in the future. I want to keep the same mechanic that I had during these repairs. Hopefully after my next visit, I can raise my rating to 5 stars. Thank you for your time.

I brought my car here after it started overheating on my way to work. I was honestly expecting a long and stressful process, but the team here made everything super easy. They quickly figured out the issue was a faulty radiator, explained what was going on in simple terms, and gave me a clear estimate before doing any work. No pressure, no upselling, just straight honesty. They replaced the radiator quickly, and ever since then my car has been running perfectly with no more overheating issues.
While I was there, I also mentioned that I’d noticed the steering felt a little off and the car was pulling slightly to the right. They checked the alignment, confirmed it was out, and got it fixed too. The difference was night and day, the car drives smoother, feels tighter, and handles way better now.

Absolutely impressed with this place! I had a car emergency yesterday with my car pooled with water and needed assistance and they jumped right into it to help me drain out the water and try to figure out the issue. I also got an oil change with the emergency appt and they were done within two hours. Recommend this place ten fold
Took my car here on the 5th this month because of strange noises in my brakes and my left passenger side was making a squeaking noise. Despite them being super busy they were able to have my car done in just 2 days!! Even worked on it after hours for me! Got my valve cover gasket replaced as well as an oil change. I brought my own stuff in and they were super transparent with pricing and affordable since I got my own stuff. I loved that I was able to 'approve' each job/repair on my phone before it being done. There were no surprises, and they even helped when I had unexpected battery issues completely unrelated to the repairs. I will be back- seriously consider taking your car here- it is in good hands! Also, they were so fast. I had my car the next day!
I had been disappointed in the past with taking my vehicle to a dealership. I needed work performed on my truck and was looking for a reputable place to take it.
I read the reviews before deciding to take my vehicle here. They were positive, so I decided to give them a try.
They did not disappoint. Not only was the staff pleasant and helpful, but the vehicle was diagnosed the same day as my appointment. I was sent an estimate for the repairs, which were agreed to before the work began. The price was reasonable, and my vehicle was repaired and ready by the next day.
They are knowledgeable and will not charge or perform work that is not needed.

I was very impressed with Maggie and her staff. My car was turned away at two other places because they "don't have tools" to work on my car... I asked if they work on foreign cars and Maggie smiled and said look around, we do everything. I felt safe and confident. I've got a new mechanic now and that's a great feeling in a new town for me.
