What clients say about Hilton Garden Inn Ithaca in East Ithaca (NY)

Not your typical Hilton Garden Inn. We booked here for the location and we were pleasantly surprised. In the building is a deli, diner, and a pub. We were pleased to find out we could buy drinks at the pub to take to up to our room. The service was great. We got an upgrade to a two room suite, and it was spacious and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

It's a nice HGI, conveniently located in downtown Ithaca. Parking is included which is a plus. Breakfast is average, not included, but is partially subsidized with a food credit if you have Hilton membership. Excellent service from hostess Chelsea. Thanks also to Rae and Dwayne at the front desk.

Ended up here during a snow storm and had a great stay. Staff very accommodating and our king suite was spacious and had the extra half bath.

Excellent overall visit. Family stay, we enjoyed the clean pool and hottub. Room was clean and in great condition. ||We were not going to eat breakfast here due to the negative reviews but I’m glad we decided to anyway. Breakfast was excellent, especially good for people with kids as there is a buffet. Excellent service and everything reasonably priced. The breakfast sandwich I had was as good as a nice cafe sandwich would have been. It was worth the 20% extra cost to eat here and not have to get fully ready to leave the hotel.

I am writing to the management of this hotel as an Uber driver. Every day I bring and take away your clients. Today I simply wanted to use the restroom, I urgently needed to, but the hotel employee, the administrator at the front desk, did not let me into the restroom and was also rude to me! I ask you to take action against this female administrator; she was there on approximately December 6, 2025, at approximately 6:00 pm. I have been to all the hotels in Ithaca and everywhere else they let me use the restroom without any problems. Please respect our work; we transport your clients, and you can't even let us use the restroom! SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!

A great little hotel by the commons, easy walking distance to so many quaint shops and restaurants. Only an 8 minute drive to most places on Cornell campus and free parking in the garage across the street. We booked the Wharton Suite, which was spacious and cozy, with 1 and a half bathrooms. Breakfast was tasty and very reasonably priced. Id definitely stay here next time in town. There are several cafes and bars in the building, so you'll have no problem having a cocktail or grabbing a bite if you want to stay in.

Expensive, with no complimentary breakfast, but the room was beautiful and spacious with outstanding views (we stayed on 7th floor) The hotel is very clean and well-maintained. Located in Downtown Ithaca, it's easy to access public transportation and find breakfast options nearby. They also have a pool that's in good condition and operational.

Great place to stay in downtown Ithaca. We found the room to be very clean, the beds comfortable and service very friendly. We were in town to see a show at the State Theatre, so the location was very convenient.

They won't let you use the bathrooms in the lobby until after you've paid for a room. I assume they want their parking garage to just reek of pee instead. Hotels that won't let you pee, especially in a town with no public restrooms, deserves less then no stars. Really, not a fan of Ithaca, stay dehydrated when you visit folks. The hotel clerk was rude enough about my desperate need to to find a bathroom that I will never ever ever stay here, and have already actively told people to never stay at it. Give your money to people who care about people folks. 0 out of a million stars.

Positive: convenient location, comfortable room, free garage parking Negative: street noise at night was really bad, I think maybe dumpster removal? Also found hair in several places in the room, but otherwise cleanliness was good.

Convenient location, in the heart of downtown. Fantastic front desk staff (for the most part), always helpful and friendly. The rooms are large and spacious. I've stayed here a number of teams, always without a hitch. But my last stay was troubling - the housekeeping was not the best. When I arrived the toilet was filthy - from the previous tenant. During my weeklong stay, my bathroom sink, toilet, and shower/tub was not once cleaned, nor was the room ever vacuumed. They made the bed and provided new towels. The cable TV is a bit odd, and comes with five different program guides! Took me about half an hour to figure it out, but once I did, a wide variety of programming is available. Complimentary coffee in the lobby every morning, but not very good. There is an independently owned breakfast cafe on premises, but the breakfast is laughably awful and they charge a prix fixe of $15. Don't even THINK of eating there - the most patrons I've ever seen at any given breakfast is 4. Overall, a quite comfortable hotel but one that could definitely use some tweaking.

The location was perfect for our itinerary and they have adjoining rooms available that we were able to secure. The one bathtub was chipped and dirty. The rest of the rooms were ok. The lobby was overly perfumed to the point where it gave me breathing difficulties. I did not sleep at all because the temperature regulation was difficult. Parking at the Seneca garage across the street was free. Overall, there was a lot of good and just a little bad.

We took a last minute trip to Ithaca and our plans kept changing; but Wayne at the front desk was great. He helped by being flexible, understanding, and good natured - ensuring we had a seamless trip. We are so greatful for his humor and helpfulness. |Room was clean and as expected, if a bit tired. Also the in room coffeemaker or cups leaked a little - bit that could have been user error. |Location is great. Near the Commons but not too loud. Maybe not super romantic but clean, safe, spacious, dependable, and well located. Would stay here any time.

This was our first time staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Ithaca. While booking my room, I was helped by a lovely reservation specialist named Rae. I wasn't sure which side of the hotel had the best views and she picked a room that had amazing views, including Cayuga Lake. When we arrived, ironically Rae was behind the front desk and helped check us in. She was just as lovely in person as she was on the phone. The parking is across the street and they validate your ticket for you so you do not have to pay. The hotel is spacious and very clean. They have a restaurant and a bar on the main level. Breakfast is not included in your stay but you can eat at the restaurant if you choose. The rooms were beautiful. They look like they were recently updated. The air conditioning was nice and cold. Only minor issue I had was trying to find tv channels to watch last night. They had very minimal to choose from. Pro tip, Ithaca falls is a 4 minute drive and a 3 minute walk from the bridge. Its absolutely beautiful. I would definitely stay here again.

Disappointing. I am a Hilton loyalist but the two properties in Ithaca are causing me pause. Have stayed at Garden and Canopy multiple times. Last visit was Canopy and the accessible room had broken grab bars and curtains that did not open and dirty shower head. Tried Garden last night, room had strong smell of body odor which prevented a sound night sleep, lacked moisturizer in pump and pillows and cases were old and wrinkled - subpar. Front desk at both are very professional but rooms and cleaning is not ok.

Really nice Hilton Garden Inn. Enjoyed our stay for sure. Staff were great and the amenities around the hotel were fantastic. Dad's Decaf Coffee Report: Hotel coffee 0-10 go to Bank Coffee on E State St one block over. Back to hotel it's really nice but $200 a night, not sure I'd say the value is there. Probably college town pricing. Oh free charging in the parking garage. The only one that works is the silver Tesla one on the second ramp. The black one is broken and the Chargepoint requires an app or card to activate.

Super clean, great location. Despite being right downtown, it was still pretty quiet. I had an overall wonderful stay, but the thing that put this place a cut above the rest was the staff. As someone who works in customer service, I deeply understand how challenging it can be to keep up consistently great service. Rachel and Dwayne at the front desk were exceptional from start to finish. Super warm and accomodating. Wanda in the kitchen, please keep doing what you do!

Not a bad operation at all, ultra convenient downtown location in Ithica, complimentary garage parking next door to the hotel. Fairly modern and clean rooms with walkable access to the Ithica Commons and lots of restaurant options.

Positive: The front desk clerk was very kind and helpful Negative: Upon arrival, found dirty cups in the bathroom. And in the morning we found out our bikes were stolen off our car during the night! We were parked in the Hilton parking garage. Police said it happens all the time.….like daily! Beware!

The location of Hilton Garden Inn Ithaca is located in downtown area. Cornell University is also only the working distance. There are a lot of good restaurants close to this hotel. This hotel offers the free car parking, which is wonderful for hotels located inside the city downtown. So, it should be one of the good choices for your stay in Ithaca.

Excellent service, clean and comfortable rooms. Watched them clean the pool while I rode their well maintained and functional spin bike in the gym. Great experience, great staff, when work brings me to Ithaca, this is where I'll be staying.

Let me preface this review with the fact that I spent close to $1500 for TWO nights at this hotel.. We're talking Ithaca not Paris.||I booked 2 separate reservations rather than one reservation with 2 consecutive night. This was a mistake on my part (long story).||When I checked in I was greeted by two lovely ladies. They were both welcoming, friendly and funny. Sadly, I only can remember one of their names, Ashley. She comes back into this story unfortunately. I explained that I had booked two nights in two separate reservations and wanted to know if I needed to check out and then check in again. I was told that no, they would make sure I could stay in the same room and I would need to just get a new key after noon. Great! I've done this a million times at all kind of hotels around the world and it's not usually a problem. Even if it is, it's communicated and I can plan around it. This time it turns out there was a problem yet it was not communicated to me.||I arrived on the late side (close to 8pm) so went up to my room. The following morning I had breakfast in their cafe (horrible, do not waste your time. Head to Collegetown Bagels). I left the property and headed up to Cornell to deal with getting my son moved in and settled.||In the middle of schlepping things from the car to the apartment, I receive a phone call from the hotel. It's Ashley. One of the ladies who checked me in. She tells me that they need me out of my room. I tell her that I had a full conversation about this last night and I was told there would be no issue. I could tell from Ashley's tone that she was uncomfortable. She offered for me to speak with her manager - Anne Brown.||Anne Brown took the phone and IMMEDIATELY started in with, "You didn't book the same room. You need to come and get your stuff out of the room." I explained to her that I had a conversation with her front desk people when I checked in and they said there would not be an issue. She continued in a low-key accusatory manner of insinuating that I INTENTIONALLY refused to leave the room. Not once did she apologize for any miscommunication. Not once did she acknowledge that this was not my fault. Not once did she do anything to convey that this was a huge inconvenience to me and she was grateful for my understanding.||Not once.||To say I was furious was an understatement. The tone in which is assistant GENERAL MANAGER chose to speak with me was shocking and insulting.||I stopped what I was doing and drove down to the hotel to deal with their mistake. I asked to speak, in person, with Anne Brown. Her unprofessional attitude was in full force. When I explained to her how insulted I felt that she insinuated I had done something wrong all she could say was, "I'm sorry you felt that way".||Here's where it gets better. This "manager" proceeded to lie through her teeth and throw her employee under the bus. She told me that "they" realized there was an issue with allowing me to stay in the room for the 2nd night shortly after I checked-in and had tried to reach me but couldn't. I told her I was upstairs in her hotel room. Someone could have phoned the room, called my cell, slipped a note under the door OR maybe knocked on the door. None of these things happened. Not the night of check-in, not the morning after. This woman lied to my face. Offered zero accountability that the hotel screwed up and made it my problem. ||Ashely graciously showed me to my new room. She was apologizing the entire way. For the mistake and for her boss's behavior. I felt horrible for her.||I am not unreasonable and had someone actually, TRUTHFULLY, communicated with me that I could not spend the 2nd night in the same room I would have packed up my belonging and taken it with me. Not a big deal. I had a full day of shopping, unpacking, coordinating and organizing ahead of me. But, no one did. Instead, I was accused of "not booking the same room". ||Since when do guests choose their own room at the check-in desk? I am a Gold Hilton Rewards member - I am upgraded in 90% of all stays. I do not check my reservation against what room I am assigned. I can't stand those people. I checked-in, was given my key, confirmed that I would not have to check-out the following day and went on my merry way.||The whole situation was preventable. Communication is clearly not a strong point for someone who is an Assistant GM in a hospitality environment. There was absolutely NOTHING hospitable nor professional about my interaction with Anne Brown. Zilch.||In my previous visit to Ithaca I stayed at the Marriott Downtown on the Commons. Unfortunately, by the time my son committed to Cornell Law the hotel was booked up. I think I know why the Hilton Garden Inn Ithaca was not.

I had a great experience here. From the moment we walked in, the staff was extremely accommodating, even finding me a parking spot for my vehicle with an overhead carrier. They also went out of their way to make sure my two rooms were adjoined, which was a lifesaver for my group. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the location is perfect—right next to Moosewood and across from the Commons. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Ithaca.

Were told our preferences were not communicated by the third party booking site, but that a king was not available (so how did they know we wanted a king?). I was most disappointed that they gave us an accessible room. I have a parent that requires an accessible room and it is extremely frustrating when hotels are NOT full and give them away. I cannot believe I am seeing this, but looking through the other low-rating reviews, someone else mentioned this exact room, 940! To me, that means there is a lack of respect at this hotel for people with accessibility needs. The shower was not roll-in either, for people who need that. The room had a strange smell and the windows are locked. There should have been a beautiful view of the lake, but the curtain's draw string was broken. No view. I wish I had taken more pictures, but the area by the beds had clearly not been cleaned in some time. There was dried rice, candy and other trash under the bed. There was all kinds of hair in the tub. I am sure it could always be worse, but I was extremely disappointed in this $560 room. Very expensive for what we got. Would not stay here again.

Great location. Close to many dining options. The staff was pleasant and helpful and the rooms were clean. Parking is a little bit off-site (about a half block), but you can get your ticket validated and there is no cost for parking. Loved the Ithaca/Finger Lakes region.

Best location ever for someone coming to Ithaca! From the second we arrived, I knew this was the place to be. The parking lot was supposed to be adjacent to the, however it's across the street, but it was close enough, and free.|We were able to check in several hours early and ate lunch in the bar downstairs. The hotel also had a tasting room, an Asian / Sushi restaurant, and a grocery store / deli in the lobby, in addition to the dinning room. The room was immaculate, quiet and the temperature was well controlled. The bed was firm and the room and accommodations both well equipped and tastefully decorated. Close to restaurant row, Cornell, and the Commons, I would definitely stay here again.

For the price, NOT IMPRESSED!! Some prices include breakfast and you hear it offered to the person in front of you, but not you! TV remote needed batteries and lotion in bathroom was out!! Two things housekeeping should check. Pretty looking chair in the room, BUT so uncomfortable. Had to ask for cups at the beverage table right in front of the desk TWICE! Offering cold water is great!!! But ensure there’s cups. Came down at 8;00 am and there was only DECAF coffee, had to go to the cafe for regular coffee AND what’s the deal with the short toilets??? Replace them with regular size toilets please!!! And of course, one has to ASK for housekeeping!! So ALMOST$400 a night MILITARY RATE?? NOT COMING BACK

The hotel room was clean and had nice amenities. The breakfast is not worth the extra money- I travel quite frequently and it was one of the worst breakfasts I’ve had for the price. I don’t recommend paying to include the breakfast when you are close to so many better options. The hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating! As others mentioned, it is on a one way street and the garage is around the corner. The hotel validates parking so not a problem!

The experience here was great from start to finish. The parking is very handy and the access to local businesses and nature is as good as it gets! The staff did a great job and the place was clean from top to bottom! The value was great as well. Definitely a place to stay again!

Just got back from a fantastic stay and couldn’t be happier with the experience. The hotel was clean, well-located, and had a warm, welcoming vibe from the moment we walked in. One major highlight of the stay was the gentleman at the front desk – he was there every day with a genuine smile, helpful attitude, and great local recommendations. It’s rare to see that kind of consistent, friendly service, and it made a big difference in our overall experience.
