I had a great experience with this shop. A car backed into my driver door leaving substantial damage to my drivers side. Everyone at this shop was great. Shawn handled the insurance stress and Chris did amazing body/paint work leaving my car looking brand new! They also detailed my vehicle before I picked it up. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that needs work done.

Wish I had read the reviews. Was given an estimate of a week and still don’t have my car a month later. With each phone call with autoworks or my insurer, I get conflicting information about whether parts have arrived and when my car will be ready.

Very pleased with the bodywork done at Autoworks. Sarah and Shawn were professional, responsive, even fun to work with. They made the process simple and convenient (working with insurance). I hope never to need body work again but if I do I will see Autoworks.

Nice shop. It was a simple fix, but the folks at Autoworks were great. I was visting from out of town, was given their name from a friend who is a local. When I called and asked if they could fit me in on that day, they said yes. It was quick and the people there were courteous and professional.

I’m not sure what the current trend is with rustproofing new cars. I do know that there aren’t many places near me who provide the service. Zeibart is in Syracuse which isn’t convenient. Autowork’s provides quality service, in my opinion, at a reasonable price. They’ve rustproofed two vehicles for me and the product they use works. Maybe people think with aluminum used in so many vehicles rustproofing isn’t important. Aluminum corrodes. Frames and other parts are steel. I think Rustproofing protects my investment. If you need it done near Ithaca I highly recommend Autowork’s.

I got my car body repair done in three days (somewhat significant damage), pricing was transparent, and I have no complaints about the job done.

Had my car for 3-4 months of body repair and after all the incessant calling finally got it done.. at first looked good but then noticed cracks in some plastics and many missing bolts/screws or not bothered to be tightened down.

Changed my rating of 5/5 to 1/5 Took my car to official Mercedes Dealership Helms Bros Bayside. Technician said the previous work was unable to satiate the body damage due to the incident costing me additional repairs with active brake assist and radar sensor. Either this shop took the insurance money from Geico and did not purchase new parts or this place was unable to handle German cars

Gecko referred us here after the accident, but this place is terrible. After the crazy amount of time and money, the engine light is still on with few errors in the computer. I brought my car back, and they were saying this is normal. How can it be normal, and we end up being the car back to the dealer to identify the problem.

As a college student, I took my car here based on a friend’s recommendation, but it was a terrible experience. They had my car for nearly the entire semester due to recurring issues. I paid for repairs, yet they kept insisting my car was fine. When I finally took it to my trusted mechanic back home, he found that none of the work had actually been done. I would strongly advise avoiding this place at all costs.

I waited 1.5 hours for an inspection even though I was the 2nd person in the shop that morning. Several people who came in after me left before I did. They also tried to sell me a break+rotor change even though there is plenty of life left in my breaks. They won’t hesitate to take advantage of you. Such dishonest and unprofessional behavior.

I consulted the body shop for some scratches on the car and my concern is potential rust forming under the scratches. I spoke to Keith who was very honest and helpful - when i told him i am not worried about the cosmetics and mainly just the corrosion, he taught me that as the bumper cover is all plastic (i thought it was metal, much to my lack of knowledge), no rust would form. I am really impressed by the frankness and practicality. another body shop near me recommended a bumper cover replacement and quoted me almost 2000 for a problem that i did not really have (maybe bumper being plastic and not rusting was so common knowledge they misunderstood my concern lol) - i was almost ready to take the risk to learn to do the painting myself.. Thank you! I left the place very happy and with a great impression of this place. If i ever need body work i will be back! Bless you!

Do not come to this place they will try to take advantage of your situation and charge you a lot of money. There’s a reason they can “get you right in”, and get your car “looked at” right away. You will spend $300 just for them looking at your car alone with no forewarning. I gave them the okay to run a diagnostic test. They took it upon themselves to rip apart my car without getting prior authorization from me. I had spoken with the guy running the front desk and we specifically agreed on no major work(which to me includes ripping my car apart). They ended up charging me for “2 hours” worth of work just to run a diagnostic test. Them putting my car up on a lift was never authorized by me, and my mom specifically told them to stop what they were doing, yet they continued to keep my car up on the lift. Their estimate for a fuel pump was over $2500.. needless to say I had my car towed somewhere else, and I also filed a complaint with the better buisness bureau. -Had it towed to a different shop and one of the first things they noticed was 2 quarts of water in the tank. You’re telling me I paid this shop $300 for 2 hrs to figure out what was wrong with my car and they couldn’t find water in my gas tank while they had it torn apart which was already unauthorized to begin with?? This is pure negligence on their end and quite frankly dangerous if I tried to drive my car off of their lot.

Our Tesla was in the shop paid by insurance, so I can't comment on cost. They did a thorough job, the fact that the car rental place could pick us up there was great, they were experienced with the challenges of getting spare parts from Tesla and were up front about that and did their best to be accommodating. I recommend the place.

Quick turn around on providing an estimate. Great place to go if you aren't concerned about costs. Labor appeared inline with what would need to be done - parts were 20 times higher than after marker parts. Declined service and paid a considerable amount for the diagnosis. Likely do good work. Just not going to pay 20 times the cost for dealership provided parts.

I had body damage on our Tesla Model 3. Mike estimated it would get done at a reasonable price with a very short turnaround time! Their work is impeccable and their prices are more affordable than every other body shop I contacted. Highly recommend them!

I took my VW jetta to Autoworks after taking it to Maguires. Maguires told me it would take weeks and thousands of dollars to fix the horn not working. Within a few hours Autoworks called me and told me it was done, it was missing 2 fuses and 2 fuses in the wrong spot, unknown of who had messed with the fuses. Great service, and nice people.

It was fantastic! I got quotes from three auto body shops. One of them required an additional $1,000 for the fender part (the one starting with 'W'). I found out that the fender is only $500, and I don't need to buy a new one. It just needs to be repaired and painted. I'm totally satisfied with their service and price! Thanks a lot! Please avoid the auto body shop in Ithaca downtown.

Recently had my car repaired at Autoworks. Mike Lane, the body shop manager and his assistant manager were great to work with and put all of my worries at ease. In addition to completing the repairs, the team even buffed out some scratches on the front bumper that were not part of the claim. Highly recommend, thank you so much!

A+++. Brought my sons used VW in to have them look at the some suspension/steering components, which the local VW dealer said were breaking down, and needed to be repaired. Folks at Autoworks confirmed. Fine. But, then the big moment. Autoworks wrote up a quote for the repair that was <50% of what said local VW dealer wanted (if you're in Ithaca, you know who that is...). Sure, Autoworks didn't use OEM parts, but 9/10 times that's not worth paying more for (and that alone isn't the reason for the price difference). Moreover, Autoworks kept me informed each step of the way, did a thorough and careful job, and had the car back to me in a timely fashion. Couldn't have had a better experience.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I took a car for a pre-purchase inspection. After they looked at the car, they said that the engine required an additional inspection. All good there. The whole thing took 2 hours but they charged 2 hours and 30 minutes (around $40 more than I was supposed to pay). I asked why were they charging me extra and they told me that looking at the engine has a fixed price (when the clerk previously said that they charge by the hour). I already spent a lot of time waiting for the inspection so I decided to come back to work instead of argue. It sucks that you cannot trust people to be honest. Additionally, they didn't even realize that the speedometer wasn't working, something that I knew beforehand and I had to point out myself. What's the point of charging so much if you do not take the time to do the inspection correctly. I am very dissapointed.

I have been doing business with Autoworks for years, both with their repair and body shops. They have always been professional, courteous and fair. John at the counter takes the time to explain things and tells you what repairs are critical, and what ones can be pushed off till another time. never had a problem. a local gem

I've been taking my car here for the last 4 years. My car is a 2012 for escape that has 170k miles on it. As a student I didn't want to be taken advantage of but also need a reliable car. They have always done fantastic maintenance work and made customized recommendations that never felt like upselling. When discussed with family members that are mechanics they usually agreed with the degree of importance given to the recommendation and they thought the price was reasonable. They have always been very open and honest.

1) I recently brought in my Mercedes Sprinter because an ABS sensor went out generating a cascade of engine error messages. I also needed an alignment and specified that my four tires should be balanced. Autoworks billled me $1.8 hours to do the engine diagnostic (something I'd done in 5 minutes using my Mercedes diagnostic kit) and then charged me 2 hours to install the new $249 ABS part; a total of 3.8 hours labour at $90 per hours. When I picked up the van they told me they were unable to align the vehicle (they had said they could) and never bothered to balance the four wheels. I was out a total of $667.40 for this extremely expensive repair. 2) While picking up the vehicle I asked about two minor body work issues. The body shop quoted me $8-900 and when I asked to schedule the work, the manager said I'm going to quote you "$1,000 just to be sure". I had the work done elsewhere for $500. I can't speak to the quality of Autoworks work, but I can speak to their obscenely high pricing for "labor". Will never go there again!

Extremely unhappy with their service and I highly recommend you avoid their shop. I took my car in for a clutch replacement, which is a big job. Made an appointment for early morning on a Tuesday hoping they could do it in a day but aware that it might not be ready until Wednesday. This was what they told me to expect. They didn't even start on it until Thursday afternoon, and it wasn't ready until the following Monday. I'm really not sure what the word "appointment" means to them.... When I finally got the car back, the steering was out of alignment. This is because the ball joint has to be removed and later reinstalled during the clutch repair. The car had been fine before I brought it in but after I got it back the steering wheel didn't point straight ahead when driving in a straight line. I called them and the owner denied that it was possible to re-assemble the ball joint wrong and alter the alignment because it is held in with a single bolt. In fact it is held in with three bolts holding a sliding plate and you have to mark the location of the plate before removing the bolts, and take care to put it back in the exact same place. This is common knowledge to mechanics. The owner refused to look this up in service manuals, or to simply look at the ball joint to confirm his mistake.Eventually they agreed to fix the alignment, I brought the car in, waited while it was done, and when they said it was done I test drove it and it was still misaligned. They continued to assert that it was impossible for them to have messed it up in the first place, refused to test drive the car themselves to confirm it was still misaligned, and then openly accused me of trying to gyp them out of a free alignment. I lost more wages (I had to take time off from work every time I went there) than an alignment is even worth. They refused to do the alignment again, saying I would have to make another appointment and bring it in again the following week because they were too busy. In short, they kept my car five days longer than expected because they made scheduling errors, they did the work improperly, they refused to promptly fix their work, and they accused me of trying to rip them off. I lost hundreds of dollars in lost wages and Uber expenses because of the delays and repeat visits, and they never did remedy the work. I had the alignment done by a reliable shop later, and just took the loss. They were unreliable, incompetent, dishonest, and insulting to me and I would never consider ever having any work done there again.

Very nice body work. Mistakenly forgot to reattach plastic protective pieces to inside of front end. A Missing piece had to be ordered. Minor inconvenience. 4 Stars. Will service with them again.

My experience with Autoworks was excellent. They replaced the front and back bumpers of my Subaru impreza. Setting up the appointment through Geico and with Mike, the autobody manager was easy and convenient. The repairs went well, they did a great job, and it was a seamless process. Highly recommend.

Ron & Sharon Best We have been customers with AUTOWORKS for 20 plus years. At first, we thought their prices were high, but in time and understanding for good quality work, it’s worth the cost. We have used different aspects of their business, such as the body dept., transmission, engine shop, and towing department. They always give us detailed information about the repair and the cost. They always strive to make sure our vehicles were ready, so we could make any appointments that we had scheduled. The courtesy ride is an added plus; all in all, the owner has always been fair with us and has an excellent team.

In short: Quick, affordable, quality service that goes above and beyond. I had some body repair work done. Scheduling was great--I had an accurate, reasonable quote within hours of calling, an appointment for the next week, and got my car back in 2 days. The repair was satisfactory, with good fit. Paint didn't match 100% but is close enough for me (difficult color, original paint is 4 years old, they used the right process). Mike and the team surprised me by going above and beyond to walk around and touch up all the paint, as well as do a very thorough exterior and interior cleaning. I never expected such a great repair experience--thank you!

About a year ago, I ran over a curb...backwards and pulled something loose from under my front bumper. I went to Autoworks Body Shop where Mike kindly fixed the problem and refused to charge me for it, saying that, before I turned in my leased vehicle, he'd be happy to fix the dent in the back bumper and that's he'd charge far less than the dealer. I had him do that just this past week and I am thrilled with the results. This is exactly the kind of business I like to use, friendly, timely, reasonably priced and with excellent results.
