Really kind and accommodating staff. I got a flat when I was driving nearby and they happily swapped the flat tire for the spare winter tire in my trunk by the end of the day. No charge!

Incredible, honest, and trustworthy! I wish I could give it more stars! They seriously inspected, diagnosed, and resolved a nefarious issue. I highly recommend :)

When I think of great customer service I get a mental picture of Lewis at Tabor St. Auto. Kind, respectful, thorough, explains opportunities that make sense. My wife and I always feel that we have been taken care of and NOT taken advantage of.

I wish it was possible to give 10 stars. I have never before dealt with such a honest and caring garage. We had driven up from MD on a short holiday. Our car broke down on the day we arrived. We were stressed about how we would get back if it was a long repair. We phoned many garages and they were all busy, and couldn't see us until the next week. Taber also said they wr r busy. But one of their guys. Sorry I forgot his name. Came in at 6 am the next day and worked on the car. He fixed it that day. Hence saving our holiday. Fantastic, above and beyond service. Wish I lived here so that I could always use them.

Squeezed in a tire repair on short notice. Couldn't be happier. Friendly staff, reasonable cost. Went the extra mile and put away my spare tire after the repair. Top marks!!!

We’ve been customers of Taber for about 8 years now and can’t speak highly enough about them. In 8 yrs we’ve never had to bring a car back because it wasn’t fixed right the first time, or “they guessed the wrong thing was wrong”. They are as affordable and straight up as it gets, super honest. They *never* try to sell you in unnecessary repairs and are always clear when something is a safety issue or is “something that can wait a bit but will need fixing at some point soon”. Lewis is fantastic - never, ever talks down to you, never “mansplains”, treats my son, who worked hard for and earned his own car, with total respect, and always looks out for the best deal on parts he can find for you. Just really good people, who do really good work, can’t rate them highly enough. We recently moved about 45 mins away and will still only let them work on our cars.

These guys are great. Very helpful and knowledgeable. Took my truck there for a custome exhaust. They found a gas leak while checking things over. I could smell the gas but wasn't able to locate the leak, so I wasn't sure. I'm glad they found it. They replaced my fuel lines for me. They don't pressure you to get work from you. They seem very honest with everything.

DO NOT GO HERE. This place is either grossly negligent or super shady. They tried to scam me out of 1500-5000 in repairs when all I needed was a spark plug wire. Worst experience I've ever had at a shop.

Wonderful customer service! Went in with a new part to get tail light replaced. Lewis at the front desk was amazing. In and out in 15 minutes.

These guys are muffler/exhaust welding experts - I definitely recommend going here if you have a rusted exhaust or any holes. These guys experience saved my $2000 by welding exhaust holes instead of replacing the entire exhaust piping. No other mechanic around has the expertise to weld, so they all told me to replace the whole exhaust with a new one for $2,800 Meanwhile Taber was able to weld it for less than $500 in one day, and they were friendly, great at communcation, and honest. Really great experience - I highly recommend them for all exhaust and muffler work for sure !

My family and I have taken our cars to Taber Street Auto Repair for more than twenty five years. They are unfailingly honest, capable, and pleasant folks. Your car is ready when they say it will be, for the price that you are quoted. Louis will not insult your intelligence by attempting to upsell you or sell you inferior products at an inflated price like some other car service places. There will be no surprises. You can tell by sheer number of cars that they service that they are the real deal. Made appointment with Louis for a rear brake inspection. This Taber Auto appointment was triggered by inspection visit to a local Large Chain auto service location. Scouring local service stations on Google and Yelp I opted for the 4.9/5 390 votes google star, Taber Auto Ithaca NY. A very common feature for each review was the service quality, integrity and kindness of Louis. Louis answers the phone, follows up with each client, told me the truth and fixed my service issue. Today my rear brake job was completed after status updates throughout the morning from Louis. The job was completed under the EOD promise time, and Taber auto also completed my inspection. Louis went further to say he would have passed me before begining the work as my rear brakes were within allowable tolerances. Now I will visit Taber Auto for all of my repairs. A wise mentor once told me, people go where they are made to feel welcome and stay where they are treated well. Louis treated me well and I plan to stay with Taber Auto.

What an honest shop! I've taken my vehicle here a few times now and will continue to call Taber Street Auto for all of my repair needs in the future. They do great work here. I appreciate the convenient drop off box, the thorough explanation of repairs made/needed, and the friendly and timely service. I highly recommend this shop to anyone who needs repairs in Ithaca and surrounding areas.

On two recent occasions, we've needed urgent (day-of) auto help. Both times, Taber Street Auto were the only ones to squeeze us in, after we called mechanics all over town. On top of that, they quoted us better prices than any of their competitors, and their work was quick and effective. Even after our first visit they viewed us as "their customers" and made a special effort to take care of us. Honest and real life-savers in a pinch. We once left Taber Street Auto via Uber, only for the Uber driver to rave about how much he loved and trusted them, even keeping a stack of their cards to hand out. Our experiences have been more than positive: they've been a deep relief, and have forged a rock-solid faith in the honesty and reliability of this business.

Louis is highly skilled and honest. I’m so glad we found him to take care of our autos. He’s great at explaining what’s going on with your vehicle if you don’t have a mechanic background. He replaced the brakes on our Subaru Forrester, and one year later we were having problems with the brakes making a grinding sound. Louis took it apart and realized it wasn’t the caliper, but the brake pads went wrong. He replaced it all for free and said the pads were under warranty. He didn’t even charge us for labor. I’ve never received a call like this from my auto mechanic! He’s the only one we will trust with our cars moving forward while in Ithaca.

This place is amazing. I needed my alternator replaced and the shop I normally take my minivan to was booked 5 days out. This place was able to start the work the day I dropped it off and I was able to pick up the next day. My van is just like new. Bonus: the guys at the front are really friendly.

Lewis and his entire team are incredible mechanics and just all around great people. Lewis cares for our family car like its his own and I would trust them to work on any issue that we may have. We have used Taber Street as a family for over 25 years now and recommend them with the highest regard. They are a true gem of a business.

Simply amazing!! We were in Ithaca for just one day when we had a serious brake issue with our vehicle. Desperate, we went to Taber Street Auto and they immediately jumped to help us. Steve and his team went WAY above and beyond to help us, including coordinating a special run to Syracuse for the parts needed to fix our brakes! They made us feel like we were their only customer, and they had our vehicle fixed and ready to drive home to New Hampshire within 5 hours! I cannot express how much we appreciate the work and effort that Taber Street Auto did for us. They are the absolute BEST!!

On a road trip with my kids my minivan suddenly failed with a seized front left brake caliper. Drove to T.S.A.R. - guys told me they'd fix it in two hours. We left the car with them, went to the Science Center, got some ice cream - two hours later I get a call from them: work was complete. Picked the car up, works like a charm. Excellent, expedient service, saved my road trip. Highly recommended.

An honest shop doing quality work at a very fair price! I’ve been taking my Honda Fit here for 5 years now and have nothing but the highest praise. Repairs are always done quickly and to a high standard. I’m usually surprised by how reasonable the price is and I’ve never felt like they’re suggesting unnecessary work. I was in the area for vacation when my vehicle began making a scary sound. Taber Street Auto Repair was able to squeeze me in the same day to take a look in order to give me an idea as to what was going on. The issue ended up being nothing of consequence, but the peace of mind that Taber Street Auto Repair offered was huge. They knew I was from out of town and in need of a vehicle to drive safely home and they could have taken advantage of the situation. Instead, they resolved the issue with no charge and earned a stellar review from me. Highly recommended!!!

Taber Street has been really wonderful to work with! They did a huge repair on my engine and took time to explain everything to me at every stage, from diagnosis, estimate, to pick up. I really appreciate that they listened to my account of what had been going on with my car and took my concerns seriously. My car is running beautifully and I will take my car back to Taber Street for any future maintenance and repairs.

Just really honest, great mechanics. I've been working with them for six years, and they do a fantastic job, and they don't charge an arm and a leg. They try to find the most cost-effective way to do a job, while keeping the vehicle running smoothly and for a long time! Wonderful people.

The hard cover for my truck bed was stuck on the track from one end. It was giving me problems for weeks until the guys in shop took a look at it and fixed it for free. They are super awesome. Seriously owe them one. That's what I consider good people who are more than a business but a rock for the community,

I was referred to Taber Street Auto by a friend as I have a large van and most places don’t have a big enough lift. Twice I thought I had major problems and both times the guys at Taber Street proved me wrong - fixing the true cause and saving me tons if money. The are incredibly honest and straight forward. I am so happy I found them / my van has never run better and I’ve never been happier. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Car's rear struts had broken and Munro Muffler on Rt 13 had quoted me $966, which included re-alignment costs. Instead, I took the car to Taber's and the price came to $690 for the same job. Taber's said that re-alignment wasn't even possible/necessary based on the type of axle the car had, so I don't know what Munro had been thinking. Taber's was friendly, polite, respectful, and there's a 1-year warranty on everything. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this little family place over any of the larger "chains." Thank you for such a great job fixing the problem!

I have been having cars repaired for 38 years. Dealer and independent. I have never found a better company to work on my vehicles. Steve, the owner has integrity in an industry not known for it. He will always make it right. Jim on the front desk has the best customer service available today. They even reconditioned my boat trailer to like new condition. Prices, in my experience, are usually about half of any dealer prices. Yes, they are busy but, really worth the wait if there is any. They are busy because they treat you right. Just go and get your vehicle fixed right.
