Good work but expensive. It was a simple part replacement. I thought I bring the car here because it was closer to home but they charged me $150 more than an estimate I got downtown. Be smarter than I was and insist on an estimate before they do the work.

Took my car in to get checked out and needed to get something replaced. They walked me through the process, explained the cost, and didn't try to upsell me on anything. Service was friendly and professional and I'll be taking my car there if there are any new problems. Thanks Ernie and Mike for excellent service & shout-out to Debbie too!

My 2007 Toyota SUV had over 107,000 miles, and I am the original owner. For several years there was a rattle that seemed to come from both right and front left tire areas, and in addition to this, the ride was not as smooth as before. You could easily feel every bump. In addition, the brakes didn't seem to stop as well as before and felt at times "mushy". I decided to try Kapahulu Auto Repair upon a friend's recommendation. As expected, the car needed new struts, shocks, and a brake job as well as new tie rods and sway bars. In addition, I would, of course, need the tires re-aligned. I was quoted $2600 but in the end it was actually $2300. During this process, Mike kept me informed of the progress of the car. He explained things to me in a manner that I could understand. My car feels like new again. In addition he diagnosed a problem that I did not bring up to him, but one that I've known about for over 15 years: when turning hard to the left (for example turning left hard to get into a parking stall, there was a rhythmic sound and vibration, and sometimes the car felt like it was rolling on square tires. I had brought this up to SERVCO Mapunapuna at that time, but they told me nothing was wrong, and that eventually I might have to replace the entire steering system. Mike said that it was due to a worn plastic piece in the steering column, and that I would have to go to SERVCO to get it fixed since they had the specialized tool to access that area. He even gave me the name of a specific person to seen. In addition, when I called Kapahulu Auto Repair, the phone is answered perhaps within 2 or 3 rings. I am treated like a valued customer there, even though I've never been there before. The shop looks busy, but the workers were friendly and helpful. So, I am very happy with the service as well as pricing. They are a short car trip away. Definitely would use their services again. Addendum. It's now been several months. The car feels like it drives like a brand new car and I've had no issues. Very happy with this.

I've been taking my cars here for years, and the recent service is a prime example of why I'll never go anywhere else. I requested an oil change and a/c recharge. They completed the work the same day and, when I came to pick it up, Mike said he couldn't charge the a/c to his standard and recommended another shop. He didn't charge me for the a/c work, yet when I started run around this week, I found my a/c working fabulously! That's what "sub-stabdard" looks like at Kapahulu Auto Repair. This shop does high quality work at reasonable prices. And you can ALWAYS trust them. I can't think of any better reasons to choose a mechanic!

Came in for a weird scraping noise — they checked it out, had me bring it back free of charge, and got it fixed right. Even took care of a few other things at no cost. Super solid shop, honest and easy to work with. Definitely recommend.

Noticed a screw in one of our rental car tires. 10minutes and $25 later we were on our way back adventuring. So nice and helpful. Thank you!

Have been using Kapahulu Auto Repair for my vehicle maintenance for almost 20 years for two different Ford Mustangs. They do excellent work in a timely manner at reasonable prices. They don't try to get you to have additional work done that is not needed. Mike, Ernie, Office Manager Debbie, and the mechanics are an excellent team. I have referred several friends to them who have also been pleased with their service.

Very reliable auto shop that gets the job done quickly. I appreciate Mike being very informative of the issues he sees with my car. He does not mind explaining things to me unlike some auto shops who don't acknowledge you when you come in.... That is definitely not the case at this auto shop. MAHALOS!!!

Had a good experience with Kapahulu, They provided fast, friendly service with fair pricing. Took our vehicle in for a coolant leak, unable to pinpoint an obvious leak coming from any of the coolant hoses, I assumed it was something bigger, like the water pump. Sure enough, it was diagnosed quickly and replaced the very same day. Thank you for keeping my wife and I on the road 🙏🏼

I am so happy with the customer service provided here. It was super easy to book an appointment. They were able to get me in within the week. They provided consistent communication for my upcoming appointment. Service was thorough and fast. Staff was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this shop! Last week I went to a corporate owned shop to have a safety check done. After the check was done they told me I had $2000+ work that needed to done to have my car pass. Something didn’t feel right to me and I didn’t want to spend that much money on a car I plan on getting rid of in 4 months. I called Kapahulu Auto Repair and had them do a second safety check. I dropped off my car and a few hours later Ernest called me. He told me that my car passed and even though the things that the other shop told me that needed repair were going bad it wasn’t things that could of failed my car. He gave me an estimate of what it would be to repair my car which was a lot cheaper than other shops (especially being a BMW). The other reviews are true that this shop is very honest and has fair prices. I will be bring my new car here in the future !

I like these folks and they are friendly and helpful. Also, pretty fast. However they have a lot of trouble at least if the car like mine is American maybe…? Or maybe they just made some bad mistakes just randomly it happened to be on me. Could not find the simple problem in my brakes, and didn’t even check all of them, as I saw them work. It was one of the younger guys. I had to fix the brakes myself. Also, twice told me very expensive $1000 plus repairs needed for a different part of the car, but what they told me TWICE was definitely wrong and seemed like a blatant guess/lie because I had a professional shop repair a different area and it fixed it. One time, instead of over $1000-$2000, it was just a free part, costing less than $10 to the shop. These guys might be good for Toyota or obvious easy repairs, but anything a little bit tricky, try getting multiple opinions from real professional specialists in the parts in question. Or do it yourself and save tons! I like you guys, but really, I would’ve paid over $3000 for multiple repairs, that’s not good. But I like them and I would go back for easy jobs.

We have gone here a couple times and haven't had too much of an issue, some things here and there but nothing that made us not want to give them another chance. We recently took our car in for a regular oil change and check up- they let us know the car was fine and everything was good to go. We were able to make it back home but the next time we tried to leave it seemed like our brakes were locked up or tires were messed up, grinding somewhere, some sort of issue we have never encountered before. Called Kapahulu Auto to see what our options are and they have completely refused responsibility or to help out, towing wise to their shop or at least having a guy come check it out. So we are spending extra money for a problem they very obviously caused when removing our tires (the mechanic told us they removed during inspection). Very unprofessional and makes it tough to want to go back to them again.

Tuck in the LOWER area of CASTLE STREET you can find Mike and his crew Mon - Fridays from 8am - approx 5pm doing what they do best! From there service to there hourly rate for labor if your looking for a good place to take your car to be fixed, this is definitely the place. And you still can walk out with money in your pocket. We take 3 of our vehicles there when we need too. Talk to the Aunty in the office because if need too you can pay it by credit card over the phone and have a family member pick it up when it's done! And did I mention you can also call and take it for a diagnostic by Mike in case you don't know what the problem is with your vehicle. MAHALO MIKE TO YOU AND YOUR GUYS! 👍

Finding an Auto shop that you can trust is like gold and without a doubt Kapahulu Auto is GOLD! They are amazing! Their prices are extremely reasonable, they do great work and they are trustworthy and honest. Ernie, Mike and Debbie are the best and I wouldn't take my car anywhere else.

Best mechanic I've been to on Oahu. Fast service, good prices, and most importantly provide an honest diagnosis of your car. I came in sure that I needed a new alternator, and they could have easily just put in and charged me for a new one. However, Mike put mine through multiple tests and determined mine was still good, saving me a big expense. Speaks volumes. Debbie at the front desk provides impeccable customer service as well. I called ahead before dropping my car, and she was welcoming me by name even as I walked through the door for the first time. Will be recommending to everyone I know and will definitely be back!

I've brought three of my vehicles here over the years. You won't find a better shop. Mike and Ernest are hard-working, nice, honest guys. The work is good and the price is reasonable. Won't go anywhere else.
