It's nice to have a spot you can take yard waste, and dispose of it properly. Hell we pay enough in property taxes , we should get some kind of bonus.

Very convenient ! Sad that I see commercial vehicles there and when passing by when not open,I see trash outside of area people dumped off! A camera may catch unauthorized dumping and a substantial fine when caught should maybe pay for the camera ?

The worker of large equipment like to pick on female constituents while the male's dump fencing and large logs. SMH.

Just sharing that as of Feb 2024 shows as open but it isn't, probably temporary close until spring. Don't know, just saving folks a trip

Extraordinary facility provided by DNREC. Still/currently at no charge! Very accessible location. They do an excellent job of keeping the parking area open by moving the piles of brush, wood, n grass. No small feat as busy as it gets... for free we accept the limitations of weekends only.. update 12/16/23 Amazingly still free.. a busy day, just enuf space, was no more large wood, just small stuff n leaves, Thanks DNREC

The entrance is ridiculous. There's a pedestrian path that crosses the too narrow access, and a cross walk right before the entrance. You can't make a left turn into it coming from Kirkwood Hwy (yet some people do it anyway). It's only open on the weekends so it gets pretty crowded.

Having this place to dump yard waste has been great, but it is very poorly maintained. They just opened for the 2017 season and unmulched piles from last year still remain. In just 2 days since opening, almost all the available dump space has been filled with very little room for cars/trucks to drive into the dump. This is a good and much needed public service but needs to be run better.

Easy access, easy in and out, less expensive and closer to Glasgow area than driving up to Cherry Island Landfill! They recycle for us!!!

Someone needs to monitor this place. So many out of state vehicles…which should be restricted in my opinion. So many businesses dumping there. People dumping restricted items and parking in a way that blocks others from getting in.

Good afternoon. This dimples site is an open space with plenty of room. The only drawback is that it's only open on the weekend. Also if you are using your Navigation you might pass it. So be careful. Have a Blessed Day!!!

Great place for home owners - what I don’t understand is how Landscapers - know who they are - are dumping trees - grass - by the tons - 1 landscaper I know said these landscaping business are charging customers big bucks to haul away there trees ,grass, leafs And dumping it for FREE at pike creek - win win for them and there customers are getting screwed - did notice the police were there a few times and No landscapers came in -

The convenience of cleaning up my property on my own and being able to discard of my own yard waste without having to pay someone to do it made me a huge fan of this site.

This has been a great benefit. It opened yestrrday for the first time this year, after being closed for clearing. Checked the website this afternoon to see if it was open. Yes, uh no, it was closed yesterday because it had filled up.Of course i didn't find that out till i loaded up the truck and went.

Web site states you are open. Went there at 3:30 on Sunday. Gates closed with park ranger at the gate. Really...poor communication.

We depend on recycling our yard trimmings & grass here every year. Relieved it is still open & I think it’s kept cleared very well considering the numerous trucks from nurseries that use it in addition to homeowners.

It would be nice if you updated your website to inform the public that you’re CLOSED FOR THE SEASON so people don’t drive 25 minutes one way and waste an hour of their time! AH’s

What’s the cost scale? Have lots of leaves from my yard. Is it priced by the pound/ton or cubic yard? Do they allow PA homeowners? Thanks!!

A great Service to homeowners but not sure why they would open it if they new they were going going to close it.

This place is open more than any other site in new castle county. It's very well run

It was busy today!! Ain't never seen so many people there at one time. Guess people have realized the landfill will be closing permanently this June. It really stinks that they're closing up! There is no place else anywhere around where you can legally dump your yard waste for free. From what I hear, it's all because Kent and Sussex counties in Delaware are paying taxes for a landfill that they never get to use so it's not fair to them. I see their point so why can't they just take taxes from New Castle County only?? Doesn't make sense. Oh well, I'm gonna miss the place like so many others will too I'm sure. If anybody reading this has any authority to make some changes to keep the place open, please do whatever you can.

Great idea, but as a typical county/state run program it is terrible. Lots of landscapers use this in spite of signs saying no commercial use. On a visit last fall saw two large trucks with 4 and 5 workers get out and unload large amount of leaves and branches. This place news to be open more, it would cut down on illegal dumping.

Happy it was open. Doesn't list on their website when it closes for the season. I heard mid January.

Use this yard waste frequently. At least it is free. It would be a great idea to have a section for wood (for fireplace/wood burning stoves). Love the dump!

They say this place is open on the weekend but it close which is bull but today they are close which on their website they say thwy are open which is bull

Only open on the weekends, and since I am assuming tax dollars pax for it, they really should enforce the rules like no out of county dumping or commercial dumping as it just drives up our local taxes! And every single time I go there I see a dozen lawn service company trucks dumping with plates from Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania!! I mean really?? This is what my taxes are paying for??

Well I have been using this land fill like everyone else. I've been told by a few people who work it that they use the waste for their mulching business, which is great and all but it would be nice if they actually worked there and munched up the waste so that it does not fill up so fast on the weekends. It's only been open for two weekends now and both weekends and both days it has traffic backed up down to Kirkwood hwy and up to the church on numerous occasions. I've taken pictures and time stamps of it and it's getting crazy. I appear they open for another day during the week and the other days they company who removes the waste work Monday thru Thursday on Recycling the waste into mulch so that it is open on Fridays thru Sunday and free and clear to move around. Now I do realize ALLOT of people use and it's a great thing the county is doing but something needs to changed with how the whole process is done before more traffic jams occur and/or accidents happen. It's creating a domino effect on Kirkwood hwy because the area fills up so fast due to lack of maintanece during the week. Said company is getting OUR waste for FREE and creating a profit off of it only for us who pay our taxes for this great county we live in,to get screwed on the repercussions of the traffic back up due to said company not doing their part. I have to say it's a good idea and we should have more areas to dump but if company can't handle the waste then find another contractor to man the site and make it work out. They are getting FREE product and we pay our taxes for this to happen with no kick back except a free place to dump our yard waste with a headache...thank you I'll look back on here to see an answer from Denrec hopefully with a solution or a proposal
