Worst customer service; lied about their max care programs. Worthless. Please do not waste time buying car from this place. Their representatives be so nice when you are buying a car but later will not even respond you or try to be rude when you ask for service or what they promised.

Nothing but bad experience from day one of ownership but currently you guys have sent my title to someone else and 2 months later i still don’t have a title, my tags are now dead, and i can’t renew them because I DONT HAVE MY TITLE. At the start the car came with a cracked windshield ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS you “set an appointment with safelite” just for them to tell me carmax never contacted them about the vehicle(that’s just the windshield we won’t mention the brakes, tires, or “touched up paint”). Just to add insult to injury you offer me less than half my cars resale value while in the process of NOT GIVING ME MY TITLE. No one there offers any form of actual help they just send you to someone else who also won’t know anything and will just be lost on what’s going on in general. I’ve never left any review ever let alone a bad one but my experience was so bad every time i set foot in there or called it almost felt like not posting about it would be wrong.

I cannot recommend Mark Bell from CarMax in Newark enough! From start to finish, he truly went above and beyond to help me buy my car. He was patient, honest, and made the entire process smooth and stress-free. He took the time to answer all my questions, explained everything clearly, and worked hard to make sure I felt confident every step of the way. Our sales rep was great and helped us select a beautiful SUV. However management and administrative office were terrible. Our title was sent to Carmax financing instead of our lein holder. What should have been a simple and exciting process turned into 3 months of no follow through and excuses. Not once did we receive the promised correspondence on the staus of how things were being corrected. Not even an apology offered by management. We love our new car but will never buy from this establishment again.

CarMax is absolutely top 3 worst car dealerships to experience purchasing a car from & they might be 1. very unprofessional very unorganized distrustful & maybe a little prejudice in my experience. From corporate to the franchises local dealers it’s terrible I would actually recommend my worst enemy to buy a car from there. THEY SUCK WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND A DECENT PERSON TO BUY A CAR FRON THIS PLACE.

We visited the CarMax Newark dealership today. I purchased a car two years ago, and due to accident-related issues, the situation became very complicated. We truly needed professional assistance. Sales associate Erick Fred and Finance Manager Victor Gelis were extremely helpful and patient with us ❤️. They were genuinely kind, highly professional, and took the time to make sure everything was handled properly. Went to carmax to get my car appraisal and possibly sell my car, asked me the normal tidbits about the car that they ask about make model and color etc. Gave me an insulting offer so I left. When I got home and saw buyer comments on the appraisal paper says vehicle sold at auction with structural damage. Weird cause none of that is true and I'm not sure if they are implying i said this which would also not be true so I guess if that's how you come up with appraisals by making up stuff its just a shady way to do business.

It was the worst car buying experience i ever had. Customer service straight out lied when I called and asked if my unit was ready to be picked up. They said absolutely. When I got to the Newark site, they didn't know anything about it. It seems customer service is handled remotely and they never checked at all.

This was my second time getting a car through CarMax. Although things have changed, the customer service was stellar. No pressure. They just worked to get me the car I wanted with the features I preferred at the price & mileage I was looking for.

It was a very quick visit. We were out in about an hour and a half with our check. The process was so simple, I never expected it like that. We came to sell the car and that’s what happened. Very happy with the result and experiece.

Very easy to deal with all the staff were very friendly. Got my online offer went the next day for an appraisal and the offer stayed the same.Sold my car the next day in and out in an hour they even paid for my lyft ride home top notch would not hesitate to use them again for purchase or selling thank for Carmax.

I had an absolutely AMAZING experience with the team at CarMax in Newark, DE. From start to finish, the service was nothing short of exceptional. Evan Page, the Manager, and Erick Fred, Sales Associate, were both incredibly thorough, knowledgeable, kind, and patient throughout my car-buying journey. I went through three different vehicles before finding “the one,” due to a mix of minor and major concerns, and not once did they rush me or show frustration. Instead, they stayed committed, supportive, and genuinely invested in making sure I was 100% happy with my purchase. They weren’t satisfied until I was absolutely thrilled — which I was, especially since I ended up signing the paperwork on my actual birthday! 🎉 Because of Evan and Erick’s dedication and above-and-beyond service, I would confidently recommend CarMax Newark to anyone I know. I also want to give a special shout-out to Brendan in the service department. A couple of months after my purchase, he took excellent care of my transmission flush and brake service. The experience was smooth, professional, and reassuring. Sunday night I went online, got approved, chose my vehicle, financing, and terms for my trade in...I got a call on Monday to set everything up and make my appointment...I went in today (Tue) test drove the car, finalized the paperwork and drove it home...it's just like they say in the commercials. I got the car I picked and the terms I chose online, no bait and switch, no high pressure sales tactics or upselling, everything was very chill. Rob was super helpful and calmly walked through everything step by step. They give a 10 day no-questions-asked guarantee, and a 90 day warranty. The car (2021 Grand Cherokee Ltd) is as advertised, super clean and ran very smooth, I drove it back home to Philly from Newark DE. I'm very happy with my purchase and experience. (*I'll update if the car explodes after 90 days 😄)

I sold a car back in June. The process was simple, easy, and I was out of there same day. It was all happy and dandy till the first toll arrived on the vehicle I no longer own. It’s November and I have received 3 different tolls under my name on the sold vehicle. Absolutely ridiculous. I’ve sold cars before this (never to an agency). Would probably think twice after this disappointing and exhausting experience.

I can't say enough good things about CarMax, specifically the Newark location. From the initial estimate to selling the vehicle. Smooth and effortless. Just how it should be. They even paid for a Lyft to take me home. I HIGHLY recommend using them to sell your vehicle or even just to get a quote to pressure dealerships.

We had an excellent experience with Reggie on 11/8/2025. We went back the following day for clarifications with the MaxCare Warranty which was further explained to us by a manager who clarify our misunderstandings. Great customer service and professionalism.

I usually don’t write long reviews, but this experience at CarMax deserved one — especially because of the way it ended. Before I ever walked into the store, the process honestly felt frustrating. I had been trying to reach someone from Customer Relations and then the Business Office about a customer-to-customer service issue. Every time I called, I felt like I was getting bounced around, transferred, or waiting for someone who never picked up. It was stressful because all I wanted was clarity and answers about my coverage and the next steps for my vehicle, and it just felt impossible to reach the right person on the phone. But everything changed once I walked into the CarMax location and met Victor, the manager. From the moment he stepped in to help, the energy was completely different. Victor didn’t rush me, didn’t talk over me, and didn’t make me feel like I was “just another customer.” He actually listened. He took the time to understand the issue I had been trying to get resolved over the phone for days. What really impressed me was how he broke everything down in a way that made sense — no confusion, no guessing, just straight answers. He walked me through my options, explained my next steps, and made sure I fully understood my care coverage moving forward. What took multiple calls and frustration was solved in one calm conversation because Victor simply cared enough to help. The whole process became smooth, easy, and honestly a relief. Customer service might not always be perfect over the phone, but having someone like Victor in the building restores your confidence in the company. He turned a stressful situation into a positive one, and I appreciate that more than he realizes. So yes — the start was rough. But shoutout to Victor for stepping up, fixing the situation, and showing what real customer service is supposed to look like. CarMax needs more people like him. I was very hesitant with purchasing a car through car max based on past reviews however I will say I ended up having a great experience from start to finish. Heres a breakdown: 1. Bought my car online and had it shipped, it was in great condition but be cautious my experience may not be yours. Photos were accurate but be reasonable it is a used car. Call Car max national before you ship snd ask questions to help you feel comfortable. 2. Do your research on questions to ask about the vehicle before finalizing paperwork. 3. Kenric was great! He was patient and helpful with process Research, compare multiple vehicles and take your time. Get your own inspection if need be and ask about the options available to you. Overall I was very satisfied.

The good part, carmax is a big used car dealer. There's a lot of locations across the country. The vehicle i was looking for was hard to find locally, but carmax can find one from other branches and ship to the location that near me. This is very convenient to me. They also offer 10 days return and 90 days warranty. So as consumers, I can have plenty of time to try it to see i like it or not. The bad part of my experience with them. This was my first time to buy car from them. When they received the viechle I ordered, they called me to schedule test drive. They said the vehicle passed their inspection. But when I drove it, I heard very noticeable rattling noise under dash and grinding noise from rear brake area. This was not acceptable to me. How could they pass a $41k vehicle with a noticeable noise. They took it back for repair. It took 1 month to fix that issue. And a new issue the radio antenna base was damaged by previous owner. When called them about when the vehicle would be ready. The salesman told me all the noise had been fixed, just waited for the new antenna base. I can pick it up and they will call me to schedule for antenna base replacement when they receive the part on the coming Monday which is 2 week ago from now(10/12/25). So far I haven't received any from them for it. And I texted the salesman a week ago, he haven't responded to me. I don't he will. But I don't really care about it now, I have fixed it myself. I'm tired to deal with them. The vehicle is fine so far. But I really don't like how a salesman treat their customers in general. I felt like they help you very well and respond your message or call very quick until you bought the vehicle and settle the sale. Once you paid, they don't care about you. All the problems will be yours. If you try to contact them, they will probably depend on their mood. So my suggestion on this, if you really need something from them, just call their customer service or managers directly. Overall experience is less than ok. Only thing that really helped me was I didn't have to drive 3 hours to get the truck I wanted.

The service was quick and exceptional! I entered my car’s information and received an online quote for them to purchase my car. I made an appointment for express and it was the easiest transaction ever! No long wait and I left with a check! They even offered to pay for a Lyft to get me home. They really made it a simple and positive experience!

Always get my cars at Carmax. Best used cars! However, This time was least impressive. I paid $99 to have it shipped and it took over two weeks to arrive. It was only at a facility about 5 hrs away. I called twice and a manager had to figure out where my car was, the tracker was not updating correctly I guess. Also, the car is great but sales experience not what I’m used to. I had an appointment with one sales person only to get a different one. Later that day my original sales person called me about our appointment but I told him I came in and asked for him only to be given someone else who seemed very uninterested. Worst wash job ever. I had to rewash it myself. The windows were the worst. I could literally tell someone just took a dirty rag to wipe them down. Not impressed by my experience this time.

Carmax Newark Delaware is horrible! I bought a car August 8, 2025 and a couple weeks ago after a rain I got into my car and my drivers seat had a large puddle in it and the roof was completely soaked! I called Carmax to schedule an appointment and they told me the soonest they could get me in was two weeks and find a place to keep my car covered. They told me to drop it off overnight and would not offer a loaner car! The car is less than 30 days bought it should have been inspected and the least they can do is offer me a loaner car! They were unapologetic on the phone and rude!! Will never buy a car from them again!!

This was hands down the best car-buying experience I’ve ever had! From the very beginning, I received quick text responses and clear answers to all my questions—and it only got better from there. On the day of purchase, I ran into an issue with the online payment portal while arranging home delivery. Instead of letting that ruin the process, Adam, the Newark customer service manager, personally called me and arranged for a Lyft ride for the 30-mile trip to the dealership. At the dealership, the business office made the paperwork simple and stress-free. When they realized one form had been missed, they immediately FedExed it to me with a prepaid return slip. They also went the extra mile to check if I qualified for the hybrid vehicle rebate - something I hadn’t even thought to ask about. Later, when I noticed a minor issue with the car, the service department stepped up again. They arranged an appointment at my local dealership and even covered the cost of a software update I had already planned to pay for myself. I never imagined buying a car could be not just painless, but truly pleasant. From start to finish, this team went above and beyond. I can’t recommend them highly enough!

We did not end up buying a car from here because we went a different route but after looking at cars at 5 different places this was one of the friendliest and best experience we had. Our sales rep was Kayla Roger's and she was the nicest person. Professional, understanding and just an all out great person. So good that despite us not buying a car we had to stop by to say thank you to her. Absolutely zero pressure environment, everyone here was just so easy to work with.

Initially, my experience was great; the salesman went out of his way until it came time for actually showing me the car. He didn't show me the car at all or even offer a test drive. My key fob that was given to me doesn't work well. It's literally falling apart. My husband has called multiple times, to get things handled, but the Service Department doesn't pick up the phone, it goes to the automated service instead. But if you want Sales- absolutely they are answering. My vehicle is great except for the fact it was not detailed. It was more ran through a car wash with only water. I was supposed to have XM Sirrus radio for 3 months, nope that didn't happen either. Sales team made the sale, But the follow up is horrendous. If CarMax would just fix the issues it wouldn't be so bad.

On August 27, I came to pick up the car. I am a driver for the TGS company. I arrived at 3:30 PM and stood waiting for two hours. I went to the office to sort things out, but there were only African-American guys making mocking jokes. I have nothing personal to say, but I think that management should influence the behavior of its employees. It looks like a good and big company, but in fact I didn't have time to pick up other cars and missed the deadline. It's very, very bad.

I've bought my last two vehicles here. Fast,friendly, and easy process. Bought the car almost 2 years ago and traded for the truck today. My sales representative and his manager went above and beyond to get this deal worked out. Highly recommend and will continue business with them in the future.
