What clients say about BUNKER in Washington (DC)

BUNKER in DC is an incredible gay bar/club with nonstop energy and an amazing vibe. The crowd is fun, diverse, and welcoming, making it easy to feel comfortable the moment you walk in. The music is on point, the DJs keep the dance floor alive, and the atmosphere is raw, sexy, and unapologetically queer. Drinks are solid, staff is friendly, and the overall energy is electric. Whether you’re dancing, socializing, or just soaking it all in, BUNKER is a must visit spot in DC’s gay nightlife scene.

I really like this bar I've always been there but in turn whenever I go there is a worker who is Colombian and a worker he in security and she at the bar sometimes they are very bad people treat customers very badly and they are very rude what a pity that people like that damage the image of such a good place in DC

Bartender was extremely rude. Skipped over multiple times and mocked by them while waiting to order. 20$ cover for 2 small, cramped rooms and poor service.

Today I went here. I travel all over the world. I have never had this problem. The first time I went it was great, fun and impressive. This time the security guard did not let me in and said that the shop was closing but let other people in. When I asked again, he said that my female friend was drunk when in fact she was not drunk and asked to keep the cash herself and had to go down to pay the entrance fee again. I feel that it is not fair to the people who come in. I do not know why or because I am a foreigner. I am happy to pay if I pay the shop but he wanted to take the cash himself. But the first time was no problem. Please consider the security guard because he is destroying your reputation. I will definitely not come back here and will tell my friends that this place is not as good as they think. I will make a video to tell everyone if I do not receive an apology. I am so disappointed

Came here for World Pride, and for the $25 cash cover each, it was not worth it. There were many other clubs in the area with free cover that played better music & had more space for dancing. The club was super tight, poorly ventilated, and the music was the same basic EDM/club beat. The bouncers also weren’t helpful, and didn’t answer any of our questions before we entered. Wouldn’t recommend or come here again.

Run of the mill mixed gender queer dance club. Aimed at younger audience. One level. Decently sized (all gender) bathroom - which made me feel a little uncomfortable because women were hanging around the urinals with mirrors…. Relatively small dance floor. Access elevator/ structure pillar take up a large part of the floor plan :( a bit of a sidenote… The location offers nicotine vending machine. But there are no outdoor seating. There’s a back wall where people are smoking. They are electronic cigarettes. However!

The cemetery has a better atmosphere than this place. The DJ (MILKO) is horrible. Doesn't know how to transition the song. Worse was when he tried to change the genre. The one star was because it is a nice place but the DJ ruined my experience. I will go one more time with a different DJ and I may change my review.

FALSE ADVERTISEMENT and ANTI-LQBTQ+ My spouse and I walked from Green Lantern to Bunker and arrived at 11:30pm and they denied access because of an event that starts at 1pm. Online they advertised “No Cover to 12am”. They did not let us in because they have to “clean up and prepare for their event that starts at 1pm”. Why advertise “No Cover until 12am” then? Why kick people out when you advertise being open until 1am?

Had a great experience. Loved the club. Service was amazing. Very crowded but expected that. I will return. I recommend this gay bar.

Yesterday I watched the bar attender serve everyone then more people came then he served all of them while I just stood there. Then after he served the new people, he winked at me to gesture he would serve me next. I just left. Also there were no women. So one of the men I met outside complimented me for my afro and said go rock it in this establishment, they might not be welcoming to you. I like to form my own opinions based on experience. His warning was validated. I ended up at crush bar, where I got a free double shot bought by the bar attender and then went upstairs and was served almost immediately.

Super crowded. Hot. And terribly managed bathroom and coat check situation. I highly recommend investing in lockers instead of having a limit to the number of people who can go in. They take cash only so it makes it hard to process refunds or to evade taxes. Been to many other clubs around the world and this is on the lower of the list

Bunker is DCs only true gay club. They have a stellar line up of local talent to DJ each night while also bringing in incredible DJs from across the U.S. Gay men can truly feel comfortable being themselves there

The place was alright. The drag show I went to was amazing. Some of the bartenders are nice, but some are straight-up rude, I get that things can be stressful at the job but I don't understand taking it out on other people, you chose to be there and there's no reason to get an attitude with people you never met in your life who's done nothing wrong to you. Aside from that, it's hard sometimes to get a restroom stall to use because of the amount of happenings in there, if you know what I mean; not that I'm against it, but man, sometimes you have to drop one or two. The security guards suck, I had an issue with someone randomly grabbing my junk, and they were like, "Welp, that's what happens here" I'm from out of town, so maybe it's normal for here, but I didn't know. Anyway, the place overall wasn't that bad of an experience besides the issues listed.

I had an unpleasant experience as an international customer. When my card was flagged due to the international transaction, one of the bartenders became visibly upset. Despite offering to pay with an e-card or Apple Pay, he refused. In a city known for its high volume of international tourists, bartenders should show more understanding and friendliness. Unfortunately, this interaction felt unnecessarily rude.

Everytime I goto apocalyptic-themed bunker I have a blast - here are some things I like. First they invest more in musical talent and international DJs than any other gay bar/club currently in DC (also have a kick ass sound system and great acoustics). If you don’t believe me check out their IG they’re always bringing DJs in from out of town and introducing DC a to new and up and coming talent. A lot of gay bars/clubs just plug in an iPod shuffle and call it a bought but bunker ALWAYS has a DJ. Second they’ve always got a lighting technician in addition to the DJ (and a kick ass lighting system) and the light techs currently on rotation kill it. Good lighting goes a long way to enhancing the musical experience and I appreciate clubs that invest in lighting. Third they put a lot of thought and effort into programming - there’s usually a theme (although you are absolutely not required to follow it), gear night, Latin night, studio 69/disco, etc and it adds variety to the experience. Fourth their staff is great…bartenders are hot, usually shirtless, support staff are constantly around cleaning up spills/slick spots, managing the bathroom line (which always moves quickly), and available to help if you’ve ever got issues. On the staff topic they also regularly bring in dancers, drag queens, and photographers that up the experience. Fifth, it’s mostly a club so I go there to dance but there are areas to hang out if dancing isn’t your thing. Lastly, and this is obviously a subjective personal opinion, but i think out of all the bars and clubs I frequent bunker brings out the best crowd: attractive, high energy, happy, smiley, come as you are people and I can always find a hot guy to make out with. Some nights they charge cover which on its face sucks but if you consider all the ways they invest in programming and providing a great experience it’s hard to argue with.

Bunker is my favorite club in DC! The staff are friendly and accommodating, the security does a great job keeping us safe while welcoming folks in, the music is always on point, the lights and lasers are incredible and noteworthy, and the ambiance is perfect for a fun night of dancing and meeting folks. I highly recommend bunker to all my friends when they visit DC!

I recently visited this establishment with a friend and spent over $30 on drinks. After using the restroom, I was shockingly and humiliatingly dragged out to the street by security, without any explanation whatsoever. Despite my repeated attempts to understand why I was being treated this way, the security guard and his team completely ignored me, making the entire situation feel even more degrading. I’m now at home, feeling deeply humiliated and utterly confused. I was treated like a criminal for no reason, and to make matters worse, I didn’t even have the chance to close my tab. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, and I refuse to recognize this as a legitimate business transaction. This experience was nothing short of a nightmare. I will never set foot in this place again, and I strongly urge others to avoid it if they value their dignity and respect.

I've been to Bunker several times and had a great time; however, tonight was unacceptable. When I brought a female friend, the outside security treated her with extreme hostility, in stark contrast to how they greeted me. The aggression was shocking and completely unwarranted. This abrasive experience left us both feeling unwelcome. It's deeply disappointing to see such behavior at a place that's supposed to be inclusive and welcoming. Management needs to address this issue immediately to ensure all patrons are treated with respect and dignity.

my friend and I came here for a drink. my friend took a picture of me and I guess you could see a leak that was happening in the background and they kicked us out! they said we were being "strange for taking" pictures.... they also charge you a fee for using a credit card which is not mentioned on their website (they talk about sales of alcohol on there), or anywhere near or around the bar. this is a very unfortunate experience because I had been here once before and it was great. definitely leaves a bad taste in your mouth

I came around 10pm on a Saturday night. There was no line to get in and cover was $20. The bar line was not long at all so I was able to get drinks quickly. The bartender was very kind and enthusiastic! The DJ was good and I enjoyed the lights as well. I love a crowded dance floor so I was happy with this place. The crowd itself was pleasant as well.

Went to see the Willam performance. The vibe was on point and the atmosphere was very upbeat. There was someone overly drunk and spitting on the ground. When security was informed they immediately took action. I felt comfortable and safe. Prices were a bit higher, but that’s to be expected in DC.

Fun crowd. Descent, at best, club. Vibe is cool and has so much potential, but doesn't quite deliver. DJ is all over the map in their set, and not in a good way. Bar service is bad. If you request anything other than beer or vodka and something you will have to educate the bartender. Be aware, also, bartenders pour well liquor even when call is requested. But, they charge you the up charge for premium.

Best Gay club in DC without a doubt. If you wanna dance the night off, give Bunkers a visit!!

Bunker is a fantastic club located under Subway. What really left a big impression on me was the well thought out theme throughout the club. Attention to detail really makes this club shine. You can really tell a lot of time and effort was put into this club. The coat check is fast, security getting in is fast, drinks are fast. Everything runs so smoothly. I love that there are different types of music every night! I definitely recommend checking this place out!

It’s great that this space exists! Definitely on the smaller and more crowded side, but that’s not always a bad thing! Lines for drink and coat check can be long but the drag shows are fantastic and there’s a fun, friendly, outgoing crowd. Kind of a weird dynamic with the happy hour and cover- you get a ton of people arriving early to avoid the cover so the place is full while it’s still pretty early in the night. Hopefully they can figure out a way to get folks dancing a bit earlier too! Coat check line is a big issue they desperately need to figure out as well.

DC has been in need of a queer club space, and the team behind Bunker provided exactly that. I visited back to back nights of their opening weekend and closed out the club each night because I couldn’t leave the dance floor. The music was great, energy was high, and the staff was awesome. I highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the mood to drink and dance the night away!

Incredible dance club that the DC LGBTQ+ has been in desperate need of! The art, design, and attention to detail are beyond compare. 2 bars with amazing and experienced staff. Happy to pay the door cover to hear the awesome dj’s paired with top notch sound system (dare I say better than hydrate?) and lighting! Dance floor is lit and plenty of places to retreat for a break. Coat check line might be long but is well run and moves fast. Get there early to avoid the wait. Bathroom line moves fast and has plenty of room. So great to have a space to let loose and DANCE!

Starting with the positive, the place is beautiful, the drag queens are warm and welcoming, and the bartenders are friendly. The stone wall feature is cool, and the bunker theme is well executed. However, the physical space has lots of choke points and is nearly impossible to move around when busy. My group and I had fire safety concerns. The $5 coat check line got so long, it stretched to the dancefloor and made it too cramped to have a good time. The $30 cover is kinda unreasonable for such weak drinks and long lines. This place has a ton of potential, and I hope they figure out the operational issues.
