Most considerate, honest and kind people. One of the only shops that took me in while I was stranded nearby even when they were so close to closing. I am very grateful the mechanics here, they took a look at my car immediately after my timing belt broke. I was afraid my car would be a complete loss to fix but they managed to fix it and make a few other adjustments for my Subaru to run again. I was traveling across coming from a different state so they made sure to prioritize and resolve the issue and ensure I was safe to travel back. These guys really care about what they do and helping people out.

Honest, and reliable service

We have used Chandler & Sons for our vehicles over the past two decades—often when our vehicles were no longer under the new car warranty.

A few years ago, we bought two new cars. And as Murphy’s law would dictate, we found ourselves needing work on both vehicles, which recently were no longer the warranty. During that same time,, we had moved about 45 minutes from the Herndon/Sterling area. After shopping around more local shops, i decided that I would rather drive the extra distance to Chandler & Sons knowing that they are working on my vehicle.

Why do take my vehicles to them: Chandler and Sons are honest people and they will not over bill you on labor or parts. No hymning or ha-ing, just transparent about the labor and parts. Easy to work with. This is truly a family owned shop that cares about its customers.

Shop them around if you want but take my word, they lead the competition. And the quality of work sets the bar.

Waste of time. Called to make sure we could do emissions to my car and apparently the person didn’t want to work and left right after I called. It took me 5 minutes to get to them once I called. Definitely shoulda payed attention to the other reviews! STAY AWAY FROM HERE.

Love Chandler and Son's! They have always done me right and have never nickel and dimed me, nor have they ever overcharged me. They're very passionate about your car and will not beat around the bush about waits needed; I trust them with all of the cars I have owned and would highly recommend them

I've been coming here for a few years and always have a positive experience. The owner and his entire team are very nice and are always patient answering my questions and explaining the issues with my vehicles, and the price they charge is fair. More recently I was having an issue and they discovered a part they put in a year ago was defective and they replaced it at no charge which I really appreciate!

Stay away, unless your car is new they will find "imperfections" that won't pass safety inspection. Then try to overcharge you for the work. Staff will argue and make fun of other customers in the waiting room.

I recently visited Chandler & Sons Automotive
to repair a flat tire, and I must say I had a positive experience overall. The employees were friendly and provided excellent customer service. They were knowledgeable about the repair process and completed the work efficiently.

The shop itself was well-maintained, and the waiting area was comfortable while my tire was being repaired. The pricing was fair, and I appreciated the transparency in explaining the costs involved.

Great service! When we had the service done, they were friendly and nice. But they forgot to connect the battery back! Didn’t know until we had to call someone to come to our house to figure out the problem which costed us more $$$$. What a waste of our time and $$$$.

We have been taking our school vans for years to Chandler. They take very good care of us. We needed one of our buses for a field trip, and although they were extremely busy that week, Chandler made sure our bus was ready to go when we needed it. Plus, everyone there is super friendly! I highly recommend Chandler & Son Automotive.

Solid shop with honest pricing and know how. Plus they help out shade-tree mechanics when a project in the drive-way has a hiccup. Recently doing a brake job in my driveway and found my caliper slide pin to be frozen. Couldn’t get it out with a wrench/torch/hammer, so I took it to the shop and they helped me remove the pin so I could go back and finish the job on my own. That level of help is a reason I will use these guys when my car needs bigger maintenance issues that are outside my DIY scope. Thank you gentlemen!

Chandler and Sons treats you like a family member. In addition, they are the most professional, knowledgeable mechanics in the Northern Virginia area. Highly recommend for all your car needs.

Finding a great mechanic is like finding a great doctor around here. Another shop put on rotors and new brakes and was hearing a low pitch grinding noise. Took it to my dealership 2x and another shop, they said it’s the material you bought online…bs! Mikes shop fixed the issue within an hour and it was the pins they put on at other shop were bad. Been here before and they will always do a quality job and do not cut corners. All the mechanics here are seasoned vets. If you wanna be cheap and let your car fall apart just take it to your dealership, they’ll just tell you it’s normal until you break down. Private is way to go and they’ve been in business longer than I’ve been alive, that’s saying something!

I took my 2019 4 Runner to Chandler and Son to look for new tires and an alignment. I chatted about my needs to run 90% of the time on highways and paved roads but wanted smooth ride, good wet and dry traction. And snow ability. Michelin Defender LTX M&S was the tire. Mike and his team installed, balanced, aligned, and leveled the suspension. It rides like a limo now its so smooth and tracks straight. Nice work guys!

Quick State Inspection for Toyota Corolla. Walked in without an appointment. Immediately greeted. David was available. "In and Out in about half an hour. Appreciate having scheduled maintenance performed on our two older cars at Chandler & Sons Automotive. Great mechanics with reasonable pricing. Thus, typically there are no surprises when it is time for annual state inspections.

Great shop, they were able to inspect my truck and trailer as well as complete emissions all in a short time. Small inspection items were reasonably priced for repair (light bulbs!) and the bill came out cheaper than they anticipated. Seems like an honest hard working bunch and I wouldn’t hesitate to bring my equipment back when needed.

Nice guys got my boat in and done same day. Price is high though $185.00 for a oil change that I brought my own parts for. That is the same price as the Dealership and the dealership supplies all the parts for that price. They also charged me for shop supplies. Which makes no since since I brought all my own supplies. I watched the entire service be completed they did not use any parts but the ones I supplied. I also had to scrub the carpet and seats wear oil/grease was left when it was done. Like I said before nice guys but unfortunately I won't be bringing any more of my boats here.

I've been going to Chandler and Sons for over 10 years. Consistent friendly service and fair pricing. I have yet to encounter an issue or feel the need to complain. I am now also bringing my parents car in for service as well. It can be difficult to find a business to trust these days, but Chandler has earned my trust. Even though I have moved farther away to Leeaburg, when I need a solid solution, I rely on Chandler Leesburg, I continue to recommend them.

Took my car there a few months back. Making the review now because as I have new car issues, i'm making sure NOT to take my car back to Chandler and Sons. On my last visit for return safety inspection, I was held at the shop for what seemed like extortion.

They said my back light was out. I checked it last night and it worked fine, not saying a fuse cant go out over the course of 8 hours and a short drive over, but more than likely the mechanic pulled it out to charge me 36 bucks to plug it back in. The part that really bugs is me is because last time I was there less than two weeks prior, they failed my car for a small list of reasons, I took it elsewhere for a second opinion and honest work done. It was when bringing my car back for reinspection (after just having it fixed) that the mechanic tells me I cant leave the shop because of a rule with the state police, saying I cant drive without a sticker and they cant give me a sticker unless I pay them to fix my light.

Their favorite holiday is surely Thanksgiving because they love that gravy and are thankful to the ignorant. If you're in the area I recommend Drakes Auto, much more honest work.

What I will say about Chandler and Sons however is they rob you with a smile and a friendly atmosphere, just like true con men.

Phenomenal Work - Unmatched Experience

As an Aircraft mechanic I often work on my vehicles myself. Chandler and Son has performed such great work, I now have the option to spend all weekend or dropping it off and picking it up, without the stress of knowing whether it was right. The knowledge in the shop alone is impressive. With over a century of experience I'd put money on your problem being something they can't handle. From our CJ Jeep, SUV, or Japanese Coupe.... They have a customer for life.

Very disappointed in the service. Mike replaced my old used throttle with one in even worse condition which promptly broke 3 weeks later. He did the same with the ignition switch with is now a couple months old and have issues. Never bring your boat to Chandler and sons. Go to someone near the water, it’s a longer drive but it will save you hundreds if not thousands

Over priced labor . They had told my car needs 3 hose needs a change ($430) , exhaust change ($380) , head light bulb and alignment ($106) and suspension mount ($360). I have went to different shop because of the scheduling issue . They had told only the exhaust needs to be changed rest all good (charged only $350) . light bulb and headlight is alignment is good. And hose are good. They try to take advantage of innocent customer.

When I first tried Chandler Aoutomotive I was in desperate need of a transmission on my recently purchased 2012 Nissan Rogue. I had done some Google seaches and was looking at $5000 app... I neither had or could get that amount of money. I would like to tell you my car was repaired and i was out the door for a little over $3000!!! I can't thank them enough for the Honest-Fair-Timely and friendly service. Thanks especially to Nate who handled all of the details and Fred who took care of me like a friend but charged me like Family. You all are the Best!

Fred, Mike and their Mom have treated me like family from day one. I have been using Chandler and Sons since 1999. I have referred many of my friends to them over the years. I drive all the way from NW DC because of the absolute trust I have in them to get the job done. Nate, who works the counter is a very valuable asset. If you live in Greater Washington DC Metro area and need superior service and most importantly, a great user experience, look no further. You will not be disappointed.

I live around the corner and went to these guys for an oil change. They found a nail in my left rear tire after I reported it being flat. They charged me 39$ for patch work which is exorbitant. You can get the same patch work at Walmart for $10. Other places will do it for free.

My initial impression of the folks was good, seemed customer oriented and honest. I know very little about cars and I think these folks take advantage of such people. When I requested them not to start work on the patch they told me they were almost done. They told me the patch would take 15 mins, and it hadn't even been a minute before I told them to stop. They also started arguing about the authenticity of the $10 Walmart price. Anyone who can google can google the price.

I would not recommend these folks for regular or minor maintenance work. I can't comment on any significant work that may be required. The atmosphere did seem nice, however they seem like they take advantage of folks who are not as savvy. I will not be going there again.

First Time Customer. The service up front and on the phone was amazing. Everyone made me feel my car was the most important one! Everything was detailed in explanation and cost! I literally could not have asked for better service. I'm so happy I've found a place to take my vehicles for a lifetime to come! I really really appreciate all the hard work!

I had been going here for a couple years and one of the other reviewers hit the nail on the head. They get you to trust them by being friendly and reasonably priced on routine maintenance and easy repairs. When you get to trust them, they start extracting all they can from you. My most recent experience that was the straw that broke the camels back, so to speak, was when they diagnosed the problem with my 4Runner's check engine light and replaced the Mass Air Flow Sensor. Including diagnostics and parts and labor it was about $500. The light only stayed off for a few days and when I called they said bring it in and they'll check to see if the part was defective. I did so and left it with them and when I came back they said that I needed a new front catalytic converter for about $1K. When I told them I didn't want to replace it, they charged me new diagnostics fees of $99.50. What nerve! Since that was never agreed to, I told them I would pay them now by credit card but then dispute the charge with my credit card company. He then says "CASH ONLY" and I was stuck. I couldn't get my car and was fuming by this time and called the police. They obviously knew the routine and the bottom line was I had to fork over the cash just to get my car. Now I have to take them to court. This is just the most recent example of how they lost my trust by lies and poor workmanship. If you are a smart person who checks these comments before going to them....be warned.

The service is great. The prices are fair. Although someone in a previous review complained about passing inspection, I have had four cars inspected at this garage and never had a problem. When I have a problem with my car; I trust these guys to get me back out on the road again.
