I don’t normally give Google reviews unless I receive what I call “The Four Seasons’ experience” Where there is an experience of an overwhelmingly warm and exceptional customer care service experience like no other. On July 27, I Was in the Potomac run Plaza for a different errand and decided to stop in at this advanced auto store looking for a Motorcycle part, Which I didn’t think they would have and so I took a shot in the dark. So very glad I did and so very glad the manager Mike helped me by being curious about what I was looking for and also very helpful with finding OEM parts for my motorcycle, which were equivalent On their shelf. I was surprised they had depart, although some of my friends are not so surprised. Because of the experience I had with Mike I returned two days later for a screw extractor set, and once again, I was blown away by the experience that Mike and his staff provided. These guys are knowledgeable and if they didn’t know something, they Went out of their way to find out for me. To the crew at advanced auto parts and to the chief there, Mike thank you guys for an awesome experience and you now have a customer for all my vehicles. LQ

I stopped at this location on 4/7/25 because one of my windshield vipers broke. I went into the store to buy a new one but was asked by the store rep if I wanted him to look at it to see if it can be easily fixed. He looked at the broken viper and said this was fixable. The lock didn't go into its place. So, he fixed it for me and asked me to start the car and test it. It worked! I should have taken his name. He was very kind and professional.

Mike and Joey were/are amazing customer service reps!! They went way above and beyond to assist us on 2/7 with a battery light and alternator belt that snapped. We can’t say enough kind things about both of them. They are also very knowledgeable.

To whom this may concern, Im not going to post about the items because all of them were wrong.. My other truck is a RWD 2006 chevy silverado 1500 LT 5.3lt crew cab.. I purchased parts from "Car quest" located in Herndon, Va and they gave me 4WD, all wrong parts!! I returned the items and left. I then went to Advanced auto and received the best customer service. I no longer will be go to car quest again. Advanced auto is my auto parts store because of one of your employees. He's a very knowledgeable sales rep at the Advanced auto parts store in Sterling, VA. (Picture inclosed of location) exceeded my expectations! His name was, Mike Z, if it wasn't for him I wouldn't have gotten the right parts. Hands down, the best customer service I've had in a long time. 🙌 everything was purchased and he even helped me bring out; 2x Rotors 2x Break Pads 2x Calipers 1x Hose 1x Break fluid 1x Dex Coolent The truck is completed and I couldn't be happier!! My husband & I went to Potomac Run Plaza location today because the battery that was purchased just under a year still under warranty. I advised the only employee there that we charged it and it showed at 100% he checked it & it showed at 50% & he told us we used too high of amps to charge it, yet my friend & Stepfather who are certified mechanics said the amps has nothing to do with charging the battery other than the length of time to charge it. He even refused to look at the receipts & added warranty info for the battery he acted as if we were wasting his time. So not going to that advance auto location again.

I would give 0 if I could. My 4 year old daughter and I were stuck in this parking lot. I went to this location yesterday with a dead key fob to my car and asked all three workers 3 TIMES which was the right batteries. I gave them the model of my car and they did try but once they couldn't get the new battery in. Another worker suggested to them to try a different brand they told him it wouldn’t make a difference. They did not even try to see if it was the wrong battery regardless of what the size said in my key Fob. I then called my friend to sit with me because I had to call locksmith to bring me a battery. She pointed out there was no way this store doesn’t have the battery. We tried an extra battery she had in her car and to our surprise it worked immediately . We go back in the store and ask for these batteries because it was definitely the brand they carried. They say “ yeah you can check down there”. When my friend asked them “why they didn’t know that, it should be their job to know these things”. He says “ we don’t know everything about cars”. btw that was no problem for me . But when this so called manager “ Richard “ starts arguing with my friend and getting rude. This is unacceptable. There was no remorse from the staff that I’m stuck outside with my child nor did they even try what one worker suggested to try other batteries because they had the battery the whole damn time. I was suggested to “ check on online”. Location needs a new manager immediately. Truly unprofessional behavior.

Had a younger guy maybe early 20s help me this afternoon. Reduced engine power thinking spark plugs and he shared thats been going on a lot lately with the 2018 chevys agreed after 50k miles thats probably the issue, gave me 4 put them in and no more power loss! Dont know your name bro but youre awesome!

Horrible horrible staff!! We used to purchase in past decades at this location, but things have gone from good to worse. The acting manager name “Natalie” or also known by title “A MANAGER” lacks soft skills, basics customers relationship. I doubt she has the minimum level of education. I also do suspect overall staff have completed elementary school. SHAME for the corporate not being selective during hiring process.

Don't rely on the website for in-store pickup 30 minute orders. The inventory they show online is not accurate at all. To be clear this is completely a review of the online order system for in-store pickup. The employees in the store did everything they could, but they can't help when the online system makes mistakes. That being said, I ordered parts specifically from the store because the website said that they were in stock and I could pick them up within 30 minutes. When I got to the store, it turns out one of the items was out of stock, and had never been in stock recently. So I ended up driving and wasting an hour of time because the inventory management system was completely wrong.

Store would not take returns on battery. I took the battery back to the store two days after I bought it but the store refused to give me refund. It's their store policy not to take back any parts that were installed. While I understand why they do it I wish I was told about it upfront.

Amazing staff. Helped me diagnose a cigarette lighter electrical issue in the parking lot for free. They take the time to make sure you are buying the right part!

Advanced Auto was a good place to shop. Stick to your guns when you buy something. You don't always need a brand name item. Make sure the warranty get explained to you fully. Please be patient when go there. They are working their best for you. They do honor their warranties and coupons.

Personnel were nice, my wife's vehicle maintenance shop confirmed that this auto parts store had coolant in stock for my wife's vehicle, I went in and found Prestone coolant for European vehicles immediately. Their credit card device did not work with my Google Pay; that's always nice to have for contactless payments. Needed to use restroom, they told me that they had restrooms in the back of the store and it was not the cleanest nicest bathroom.

Such a great experience with the advance auto parts in Potomac plaza, Sterling. Excellent one on one service with John R!! But not to take away from everyone else... the staff here is very profesional and knowledgeable of car parts and their information they have. most of them are very friendly and They will always go above and beyond to make sure your service are taken care of. They always check in even when you're shopping to make sure all your questions are answered. For bonus points They're outside service when working on your car like checking battery's and changing windshield wipers (which has both been done to my vehicle from this store) is very professional and just above and beyond. This is the type of service I would never get at places like O'reillys, Napa , or especially Auto Zone!! The crew here is amazing and will always go above and beyond to serve their customers. This advance auto parts will always be my go to store when ever it comes to needing help on any of my cars. It is such a nice little crew they have working over here and it's something you never really see now a days in work places! 100/100 for this store it is certainly great :)

Excellent! Helpful friendly employee Alex helped me get new wipers for my car. I used an app to pick the size, but when Alex went to install them, he realized they wouldn’t work. So he patiently took me back inside, got the correct wipers, refunded my overpayment, and happily reinstalled the correct wipers. Saved me a lot of hassle.Thank you, Alex! I appreciate it!

I had a battery go dead at the last moment and showed up right before close. Called other places and felt I was going to be a burden, but when I called here John answered and was extremely helpful and helped me solve my dead battery issue. Very grateful for his great service. It was worth driving to this location.

I have gone here for years and the staff and service is exemplary. If I can't find it the staff goes out of there way to help locate what I am looking for. Centrally located in Sterling, VA. Parking right next to the entrance for quick pick-up or just to look around. No pressure salesstaff with knowledge of most vehicles on the road today. The most reliable Advanced Auto Parts I have had the pleasure of visiting in the summer and winter for all my vehicles. Definitely a mainstay at this particular shopping center.

This modern, open layout auto parts store is great for the serious mechanic & weekender alike. Some great guys behind the counter who will put in the extra effort to help you when they're not swamped. Quick turn around for non-stock items, and lots of extras - did you know they have wiring diagrams? I highly recommend this location.

Actually I like this store. I appreciate very much of their car engine-oil recycling program for the community. If staffs can be a little more courteous and friendly, I would certainly add two more stars at my next review.

The one thing I love about Advance Auto Parts is that if the part is not there, the shop will bend over backwards to procure it, generally, by the next morning, from a distribution center or another local shop. It’s actually faster than Amazon, which says a lot these days. The only thing I have always found weird is that when I want a generic “auto” part for craft and hobbies – not necessarily to repair a car – I have to find a car that has, say, a fuel line hose, or a battery, or a whatnot, in order to be able to order it. Some things are generic, aren’t they?

Showed up early one morning at Advance Auto Parts in Sterling to find a tail light for our Toyota Camry. The store appears to be well-stocked and interesting to look through. Although there were several people working there, there was only one person at the cash register. The other person completely ignored me and I had to ask if someone could help me. The person working behind the cash register yelled to the other employee and was finally allowed to come out and help me to determine which light was out on the back part of the car. I felt very insecure as the person helping me switched out the lights several times before coming to a conclusion about which one was the right one. She also made the comment that I should check if she had given me the right light before I removed the old one. I thought that's why I had gone there, to get an expert to find the correct light for the car. All the employees were in a bad mood and the general atmosphere was one of the customers' presence was the cause of some sort of putting the employees out in order to wait on them. There are several other auto parts stores in that general area and I think I will try one of the others next time. Hoping this was just a bad day for the store and things are normally different.

In all fairness, I was only picking up a part I'd ordered online. Still, the service was so prompt and courteous I had to give it 5 stars. Even though I thought it was quick, the person behind the counter apologized for the wait. On top of this, I got a great deal online using the instant discount code. If you're looking for auto parts or accessories, it's worth checking them out.
