I have been servicing all of my family vehicles here for years, I have found them to be so trustworthy that I don't question any repairs needed. Very fair pricing and excellent customer service. Gary is terrific.

What a crap place? The manager Gary Holt was such a pain
I am wondering how this place is still in business
I was there for State Inspection
Right from the beginning, Gary was showing me the attitude that he is very busy and taking my car for inspection was a big favor
And then he came back and say that inspection is failed
Then I asked him to give me the estimate to fix the issues
He looked at me with a bad look and then He came back with an estimate of around $1700
I was there because my regular mechanic has closed his shop
So I had to go another mechanic with failed inspection sticker and we all know how these mechanics milk you once they see the failed inspection sticker
But anyway, the other mechanic able fixed my issues and passed the inspection and it costs me around $650 way less than $1700 quoted by Sunset Hill Automotive
I am sure I would have get it done with way less money if Sunset Auto would not have failed it

I have a couple of out of warranty cars, they're the only place that I trust to work on my out of warranty cars.. They fix it right the first time every time. I wish I could take my other cars there, I hate dealing with dealerships.

I've never had them miss an issue which became a problem later, had a vehicle breakdown since they've been servicing my car, or been overcharged for a repair.

They also don't try to understate how long a repair will take. I think every time I've been given a repair timeline, they've always completed the repair by the stated time, or earlier.

They don't push you for unnecessary repairs, and seem proactive about making sure that you get the maximum safe life out of any given component before asking for a replacement.

In brief: they know what they are doing, are honest about it, and don't overcharge.

Have been a few times now. The communication is straightforward, work is done efficiently, and pricing is reasonable. I’ve been very happy with the work on my cars to date.

Stellar service! I have been coming here for years, and they will not only do a great job, but they won't add on extra charges or recommend services that aren't needed. They aren't trying to up-charge or take advantage of you!

I started bringing my car to Sunset Hills Automotive in Sterling about 6 months ago. I'm very happy with them. I have had brakes replaced, oil changes, state inspections, tire inspections (light came on). They are very friendly, honest, and prices are reasonable.

I came here to check their pricing because another auto shop had tried to charge me almost a grand due to a failed inspection. The man checked my car to give me an estimate & came back telling me my car was able to pass and only needed a small light bulb replacement. They were so honest and saved me so much money. As a pregnant mother, I was upset to find out many places that are dishonest and want to just get as much money out of you as possible, but not Sunset Auto!! We will definitely be coming back for every future need. Thank you guys!

My friends and I did a brake change on Cinco de Mayo that didn't work out, possibly because of Margaritas. I pulled in with burning brakes and they had it fixed up by noon. Great shop, I'll be a returning customer for sure.

I went here after reading google and Reddit reviews. A little background: a prev dealership told me my brake pads needed replacement soon and then a different dealership after said they were fine. So I wanted another opinion. I dropped the car off and they test drove it because I had noticed some vibration when braking. They honestly told me it was very minor and gave me a free estimate. I was very happy with their honesty! Once I do need to get my brakes replaced I will go here :)

I moved to Sterling 6 years ago and stumbled on Sunset Hills Automotive for an inspection. Immediately I felt a sense of honesty and professionalism from Gary, Chris and the rest of his team. Since then, I've made Sunset Hills Automotive my service center for all work on my BMW. Even my daughter now takes her car there. Fantastic service.

I've been to the location in Sterling and Reston and both are excellent. Service is usually pretty quick even when things seem busier, and what I most appreciate is how kind, knowledgeable, and respectful the staff is when explaining what's going on with your car. They're always up front about what repairs/services are actually needed and which ones are optional or not needed at that moment. Thank you for your excellent service!

I want to commend Sunset hills automotive for providing service above and beyond.
I had my car serviced and tire rotated in addition a tire had a puncture.
Chris one of the very knowledgeable technicians quickly found the tire that had a nail and fixed it.
He also performed all the service my car required.
In this day and age to find people like chris and service station like sunset is awesome

Hard to find honest mechanics. The guys here are not trying to upsell you anything and are super kind and respectful. While I was waiting, a lady just came in for an oil change and they told her she could go for another 2000 miles. Other places would have happily taken her money. They recommended she waited.

I have used Sunset Hills for all of my repairs and tuneups for years. I’ve moved out of the area and still come back to Gary and his team because I know that they are fair and do an honest and amazing job!!

They are absolutely professional and at the same time very understanding and serve with passion.
Their service is always prompt, their estimates are always very close to accurate.

The office setting is very nice, staffs are fully vaccinated. Prices are reasonable.

I have been coming here for a few years and this place is amazing. I literally know next to nothing about cars/when I should get general maintenance done and they always take great care of everything I need! Even if it’s last minute, they have always been able to fit me in and get everything done in a reasonable amount of time! As long as I live in the area I’ll always come here and always recommend this place to anyone who needs their car fixed/worked on!

Been taking one of my cars here for service for a few years. They're straight forward to deal with and have never felt like I'm being sold more than I need at the moment. Prices have always seemed reasonable, and turnaround is quick.

I was quoted 115 on the phone, my work was done and I came in and was given the price of 140 something. I mentioned the earlier quote, a call was made, and my price was back at 115 as was promised even though it was a misunderstanding on my part. 10/10 on the service and customer service.

State inspection failed at Sunset:
1. Wiper blades worn out. I agree
2. Exhausted flex pipe leak
> appearance looks fine no leak
3. All engine mounts broken
> we just replaced about 2 years, there is no way ALL of them failed at the same time.

Note: if you do not fix at their place, they wrote in the sticker as shown in Yelp! Honesty??? Also, go to Yelp! click on pictures for proofs. Sunset can spin the truths, but pictures worth a thousand words.

Great place to go to get work done at a fair price.. One of few places that I trust to work on my car, because I know they aren't going to rip me off and run the bill up on you.. And they take the time to explain what needs to be done, and what can wait till later.

I love Sunset Hills Automotive! This is an honest auto repair shop! Love that they don't do unnecessary work or charge exorbitant prices for repairs!

Took my car in for a front end shimmy - all I needed was a wheel balancing - they could have said I needed an alignment - new brakes, the works - but they didn't!

They keep my old car on the road. They also stand by their work and have replaced parts or redone a repair on the rare occasions that something has gone wrong. Prices are par for the course in the DC metro area, but they are reasonable about not recommending unnecessary service. The people posting about gas prices are confused - this business is a repair shop, not a gas station. They happen to share a building with the adjacent gas station.

These guys are great. Honest, hard working, and fair. They specialize in mechanical repairs - so don't expect them to diagnose electronics stuff very well. But for tires, inspections, alternator replacement, belts, suspension, brakes, etc., they are fantastic. I've been taking my cars here for almost 20 years.

Fixed the headlights on my Tahoe in a jiffy for 1/2 the price of anyone I could find in the Reston or Herndon area. I have used the original location for over 20 years. Excellent,fairly priced and fast.

The repair station at this address (Baron Cameron Service Center) was purchased by Sunset Hills Automotive a few months ago, who has been repairing my family's cars for many years over at their Sunset Hills, Reston address. I think you'll find these new owners and their staff trustworthy and extremely helpful as they've always gone above and beyond for me and my family. At Baron Cameron they were able to diagnose our old Beetle and get her back on the road again.
