Great service. Fantastic local outfit that works to find out what your project goals are. We asked for compost for our raised beds and they suggested their topsoil and compost mix to avoid too much shrinkage. Would buy again!

Disappointed with quality. I ordered topsoil, but was delivered light-colored, pebble-filled soil.

Everyone I spoke to was friendly and helpful. Pricing and material quality are fabulous. Fred delivered both of our orders (10 tons of grey stone dust, and 13 tons of MD pea gravel). He's the best! So friendly and thoughtful, and he did an amazing job navigating our residential driveway that has annoyingly low electrical wires. Even with the difficult location, he managed to drop the material exactly where we wanted it. I will definitely order from them again if I need anything, and will be recommending them to everyone I know. I cannot sing their praises enough.

My favorite place to get rocks, stones, compost and top soil. Always great prices and efficient service.

Not a place to order TOPSOIL. I ordered 10 yards of topsoil after I began to spread it through out my yard, I noticed alot of rocks, trash, large sticks and broken glass. I am using this soil to level a play area for my children. now I have broken glass in my backyard. Contacted RSSY and spoke Giselle and manager Mario Ortiz. Although customer service was decent, I cannot purchase from RSSY again. I was only offered a free delivery on my next order. Mario blamed the supplier for all the garbage in the delivery. The topsoil they sell is re-sold as "screened topsoil" with gravel sized rocks. They do not screen on-site. Mario stated it comes from a construction site. You be the judge, is this screened top soil? The soil that was serviceable is thick and clay like, not topsoil as stated. BUYER BEWARE.

I’m so impressed with this company. Super nice on the phone and answered all of my questions for our fire pit project. Same day delivery for 2.5 tons of gravel. They couldn’t deliver the edging stone the same day but pick up wasn’t an issue. The delivery was smooth and timely. The gravel we received looks different than the gravel on display (3/4 wash gravel). But I understand different batches vary. Either way, I love how it all turned out and I’d definitely use them in the future. Much better quality than what I could find from Home Depot/Lowes.

These guys are great! I stopped by today because I needed more masonry sand for a mortaring project. They guided me through the process of the scale and everything, and they made me feel comfortable even as a non-contractor. (I've been to other places who clearly expect to work with only contractors and they talk down to the female DIYer.) They were so nice, and the bag of sand I shoveled was just $2.50. I like to support businesses who support our local Fort Hunt Little League, and RSSY is an easy one to support because they were so awesome. I'll definitely be back!

My go to place for blended compost and I send all my friends and neighbors here. Great customer service all around. Great products at great price points.

Been a customer here and the route one location for over 45 years. Quality service and inventory. Pavers, wall stone, bulk topsoil, mulch and aggregates for the professional and do it yourselfers. Highly recommended!

Beware of the Topsoil! It's a 50% pea gravel and extremely clay heavy- I threw almost 2 tons of this to level the lawn and I'm not sure my yard will recover. Once I started spreading the piles, I saw how rocky it was. I started screening (which took 15-20 minutes to fill one wheel barrel) and that's when I truly saw that it was 50% gravel. You're better off paying for the bags at Lowes/Home Depot and screening it because you'll at least get loamy soil. UPDATE: They addressed the issue very quickly and dropped off leaf compost, so while I do have to remove a layer of the gravelly clay and then reseed or sod, I at least have better material on site. RSSY does also have good gravel/rock products and the delivery guys have always been friendly. I will continue using them for rock but the topsoil is a massive (and potentially costly if I have to remove and then sod) bummer.

The topsoil product should be called 50/50 gravel/clay mix. Calling it screened top soil is a joke. I’ve previously had several good experiences with RSSY. Their delivery people are always prompt and nice. But I really regret ordering top soil from them. I’ve now contaminated my yard with a couple tons of gravel mixed in with the clay/sandy soil that was delivered. Not to mention some other contaminants like rusted bolts and a couple glass pieces.

Amazing prices, knowledgeable and helpful staff. You can tell they stick to the family owned business model that has endured for over 50 years! You can’t Go wrong with RSSY!!!!

Competitive prices but take a picture of your vehicle's weight before loading any stone or gravel. My truck weighed 3600 lbs and I loaded 2000 lbs but at checkout I was told my truck weighed 3300 lbs. So I was charged 2300 lbs instead of 2000 lbs. I have no proof so BEWARE.

Had a very good experience with RSSY. We needed 6 cubic yards of a topsoil and compost blend for our raised garden beds. We tried a different (closer) topsoil provider, but they wouldn't deliver until March! Not only would RSSY deliver, but their prices were very competitive. Ordering and scheduling the delivery with Mario was smooth. The dumptruck driver was courteous and a true professional. He safely negotiated our compact driveway and dumped all six yards on our lawn, spilling none on the driveway, as our toddlers watched excitedly (no pressure). The soil itself looks great, no significant rocks or plastic materials visible. It looks well-screened with a good amount of organic matter present. I think it'll work very well in our raised beds, especially once amended with additional compost. Overall very satisfied, and will be a future repeat customer!

walked into this place, asked a simple question, heard a woman from the back rudely bark out an answer in Spanish to the person at the front (i’m Hispanic) and got a completely uninterested response. had a budget of $5k to spend. never even got to first base with this place. i just walked out.

The traffic flow could use some work but they are friendly, helpful people. The price is a bit more than Vulcan.

Very late review but better late than never. We’ve passed RSSY many times on the way to Belvoir but there was never a need.until I wanted to do some rock painting when it was the hottest thing in 2018. We stopped in one day just to see what they could do in my moment of creativity. I don’t recall who took care of us but let me say, he was beyond sweet & kind to us old people. Frankly, I was expecting them to laugh us out of the place. He told us what we needed to do then we set out on our search for the perfect rocks. The gentleman who helped us treated us the same as if we were buying tons/yards of their goods. That really shows true professionalism & great care no matter how big or small ... I mean ..really small the customers are in need. We live south of Fredericksburg but we sure could use more businesses with this kind of customer service. Prior to going here I called several other places and they couldn’t be bothered & just told us to go to Home Depot or Lowe’s....like I didn’t already check there first. Anyway, it’s a late thank you but your impeccable service was never forgotten and very much appreciated. Thank you again.

Contractor of 11 years just had the WORST experience ever with this place. Don’t go here for anything. Save yourself multiple headaches and time. Terrible establishment. My company needed Nicolock Serafina in granite city to complete a seat wall and fire pit job in Maryland. This place was the only place that had the blocks so I had my Administrator contact Grisel to reserve the material. She asked if we needed to pay in advance or if they could just hold it, and they said no payment was needed because they had 8 pallets in stock. I sent one of my drivers to make a 4 hour round trip yesterday, only for him to discover that one of the stone yard guys (Mario) loaded him with the wrong pallet. They were only able to discover this after opening the pallet back at the job site 4 hours later... They accidentally gave him Nicolock colonial wall in serafina instead. I called the and spoke with the manager, Nicole, to try to remediate the situation. She was pretty helpful at first, but then things got even worse. I explained to her that because of their mistake I would have to spend $174 in labor, mileage and fuel to have my driver go all the way down to return and swap the material and that I expected to be compensated for that. She and Grisel blamed the problem on my driver, but every other supplier we have been to has the office radio out to the yard to tell the yard guys what they need so that there is no room for confusion. This place apparently doesn’t have organized systems in place, or Mario can’t speak English. One or both of these problems exist. She said my guy told Mario the wrong material, but he only gave the material name to the office, which was supposed to be relayed out to the forklift operator loading guys in the stone yard. Like I said, we even called days in advance to eliminate potential problems... After initially after explaining all of this to her, she contacted one of the owners and got them to authorize a $150 store credit... I wasn’t super happy with that but for the sake of closing the case out I reluctantly agreed. Before hanging up with her I made sure that the credit could be users on the correct material when my driver went back to swap it out and she said yes with no additional questions or conditions. Then after my driver spending another 2 hours going all the way down in traffic they tell him they can’t do the store credit because the pallet was opened and they couldn’t sell it anymore. How the heck did Nicole think we found out they were the wrong stones? The pallet had to be opened to see that!! He also said they were extremely rude and not professional. So they did take the wrong pallet back and refunded me for that but voided the store credit of $150 so now I’m out $174 plus the extra 2 hours it took for them to not solve the problem and jerk us around once we got there, which al together cost me around $214. Will be posting this same review on multiple platforms. Extremely dissatisfied and terrible customer service.

RSSY's prices are very reasonable, and the people are super friendly and helpful! We bought a boulder and smaller rocks for the yard, much cheaper than what the garden center was charging. Delivery was fast and easy, I couldn't be happier! Thanks so much RSSY!

This Company and all the staff are wonderful! They have a great selection of products and are very knowledgeable & helpful! Dave delivered my 3 pallets of Grand Cayman Stone this morning right on time.We had a great time talking about yard projects! Thanks Dave and RSSY!

Rock Stone & Sand Yard delivered a load of gravel for our patio project. The delivery was quick and the driver was great and got the material exactly where we needed it. Unfortunately, they be brought the wrong material the first time but a quick phone call to the office for it fixed and I had the right material within 2 hours of the original delivery time. Great customer service and super nice staff. I definitely recommend this company!

The people are nice enough, but I got 2 loads of topsoil and it was FULL of rocks and broken glass. I am using that to level some ground for my pool and we have to go through all of it so it doesn't rip our liner, overpaid for it. Won't be going back.

Super friendly, eager to help you staff !!! They knew exactly what I needed for my backyard bon-fire remodel!!!! For months I had this idea in my head.... I just needed direction... had I known it was going to be that easy to have gravel delivered to my home I would’ve contacted them sooner!! Great price! affordable. Almost effortless!! From now on RSSY will be my first point of contact for back yard Projects!!!

This place is great, and incredibly cheap compared to Home Depot. You just get what you need and pay by weight. I got two types of Delaware River Jack, 3/4” and larger stones of various sizes for a dry creek project. It turned out great and RSSY served me well.

Great staff. Jim met me in the drive, asked some questions about what I was doing, got me a price sheet, and then talked to me about some of the products they sold that I could use to build a retaining wall. Even made me think about a new way to build the wall that would comply with the county codes, and that would probably be easier to complete than what I was thinking. I was originally going to get some RSSY topsoil, but after looking at the leaf mulch I decided to go with it instead. A little cheaper than the topsoil, and already 95% of the way to being great dirt. Nice to find a local business that's not all destroyed by corporate greed.

My company Green Lady Landscape Design and Masonry and my partner's company West Potomac Masonry highly endorse Rock, Stone and Sandyard on Giles Run Road and Richmond Highway. Both stores provide high quality materials and easy access to highly-organized stoneyards. What seperates RSSY apart from others is the extrordinary customer service provided by Jim, Grisel and Mario. As contractors we depend on their professional knowledge and experience with an endless array of products. Additionally, we trust them to educate our valued clients. Often, we bring clients to the stoneyard or they might visit on their own in order to view materials first-hand and receive ideas and inspiration in support of our growing vision of their personalized project. With-out exception the Giles Run team never fails to enthusiastically engage and encourage us all to learn and be creative with the products within their showroom and on the grounds.
