Wood mulch (currently not available) is double chipped and is easy to load
Leaf mulch/ “leaf mold” is basically compost. It is better than anything in a bag (which is currently $5-6 per cubic foot). Better than the stone and clay they call compost from the over priced nurseries ($200-500 per cubic yard)
Yes couple pieces of plastic trash that you need to pick out, totally worth it
go past the weigh station, make the first left into Lot B, and it's at the back right of the lot. pick brown or black. staff was quick to replenish when the hopper was low.
Two types of mulch - shredded wood and leaf. I got the wood. A conveyer belt for loading a truck or trailer was perfect. There were trash and rocks in the mix, but I expect it would be tough not to have that at a landfill.
Make sure to bring bags and a shovel if you aren't dumping it into the back of a truck. They do have extra garbage bags on hand but they are flimsy. The guys running it are very nice.
It is free so that is good. It is not well labeled they have double or triple shredded mulch but not labeled which is which.
It has a lot of garbage in it (small plastic bags, plastic bottles etc). Most mulch does it probably has about three times as much as the big box store mulch. It is not all over but most of the shovel fulls I had when unloading had a small piece of garbage. I would not put it on edible landscape, but it is fine for the non edible portions of my yard. And ya know it is free. If I had to pay for it I would rate it 2 stars.
