Down town automotive has been an amazing company! Their integrity is second to none. My daughter’s vehicle was having issues that another company diagnosed as a total engine replacement. We brought it in to Paul and they went through the whole vehicle and found nothing wrong. It would have been easy to take advantage of a young college student but that’s not how this company operates! We will use Downtown Automotive for the foreseeable future as long as my kids are in college. Such a trustworthy and honest company! Thank you!

I am utterly appalled at the treatment or should I say lack of treatment I received her. I only know of this fine establishment from a previous guy friend. Was treated like a queen then by the staff, just the way the owner looked at me and told me to move my car so his customer could exit the parking lot had me shaking my head in disbelief. However, after letting the gentleman out, I pulled in again only to be told by owner it's more hassle to assist me in locating the slow leak coming from a tire than I'm worth. If I wasn't so angry, I woulda been moved to tears. I never go there again. Matter of fact I haven't even drove by there since.

Good, honest work. They handle things a little more old school, but they have always been accommodating on short notice and give fair prices. I had a radiator replaced here and they quoted the lowest price from what other places said it would be. Bob is a wise man & the mechanics are knowledgeable.

Called downtown automotive for towing services. Gerald came out and was awesome! He knew exactly what to do to help our situation and get us back to safety! He is definitely an irreplaceable asset to this business! Will call them again if ever needed!

We were visiting from out of town and our van broke down. Patrick was able to get us up and running quickly with direct communication about what was going on with the issue and very competitive pricing. I cannot recommend Downtown Automotive enough!

These guys saved my car after another mechanic put a part on backwards. I’ve come to them with a whole range of maintenance needs and they always do a good job. Great service and honest work. This experience confirms this is the only shop I should take my car.

I would never consider anyone else for a tow. Used them for 20+ years. Never used them for repairs but I would expect nothing less than honesty and integrity.

Came into town and my car started making a weird noise, a tale as old as time. I called Downtown Auto up the next morning and they were able to fit me into their schedule to diagnose AND fix the problem before I was scheduled to leave town. I picked my car up and it sounded better than ever.

If I could leave negative stars, I would, unfortunately that’s not an option! This is by far the WORST experience I’ve had in my life, not just with mechanics but with any business I’ve ever dealt with! If you care about your vehicle, I highly recommend taking it ANYWHERE but here! Not only do they do bad work, they will rip you off then cuss you when you question them.

These guys are AWESOME, had to have my car towed due to an Auto Technicians mistake, they were phone courteous, prompt, and the driver was very friendly, we talked all the way to the shop 😂 and the price was reasonable. I'm using them from now on. THANKS GUYS! YOU HAVE A HAPPY CUSTOMER!🤗

For the last 20 years this has been my "phone-a-friend" when I'm in need of a tow. This company has consistently been fast, friendly, honest, affordable and reliable. They're fair with pricing & remain considerably cheaper than AAA. On one occasion I was able to be serviced after normal business hours for a small fee and the customer service was unchanged. They are the Chick-Fil-A of the mechanic world. This Place has been a thriving & booming small business in downtown Chattanooga as long as I can remember and longer than that. I dialed them today and as long as they are around I'll call them again. As always thanks guys!

My new go-to for towing around Chattanooga. Great service at a great price! Both drivers -- Jeff and Gerald -- were super friendly and good at their jobs!

I got recommended here to see Patrick and was very trusting off the word of mouth from a friend. I went in for some front end work and alignment on my truck. Patrick was very knowledgeable and answered any questions I had. He kept it honest and told me what I needed instead of replacing a bunch of extra stuff thay wasn't necessary. They had my truck fixed and running right faster than I figured the work would take. I've been making excuses to get out the house and drive the truck ever since. It feels brand new I highly recommend

What can I say but absolutely amazing service. Super friendly when our van broke down on our vacation they were able to take the time right away to not only diagnose the problem but to fix the van and have it ready to go the next day. They even went above and beyond and dropped us back off at the hotel and when they called to tell me the van was done they even picked us up and brought me and my three children to the shop to get the van. I cannot put into words how highly I recommend this place. So very kind when we were in a new town and desperately needed help. I am so very grateful.

The staff was willing to help my flat tire whereas other repair shops turned it down. When it turned out it was not fixable, they recommended to visit another repair shop which was right across the street because they didn't have a tire to replace mine. Very kind.

My clutch went out as I was rolling into Chattanooga and I called another transmission place and they were backed up and referred me to Down town automotive. They came immediately and towed my vehicle and replaced the clutch, master cylinder, and some other minor issues in 1 day. The shop may not be much to look at but the people make the difference and these guys are no frills car guys. Their rates are reasonable and I will be back for all my automotive needs.

Wonderful crew they got here. They got my car took care of fairly quickly, and worked with me when it came to when i was able to pick my car up. Not being charged for having to let it sit a few days once it was fixed was a bonus. Patrick did awesome repair in a timeframe that was better than others. Bob is the best for he was ever so patient and such a sweetie when i was finally able to go and pick my car up. Definetly recommend these guys for anyone who finds themselves stranded and in a serious need for a reliable and trustworthy tow and/or repair

We used this place to have our van towed. Our van broke down during vacation and we were extremely stressed having to leave it over an hour away from us. We needed it towed back home to us. This place not only gave us the best quote out of everyone but were very professional, nice, and quick! Definitely recommended!

I drove my girlfriends car here from out of town for work and car her car would no longer start! Fast tow, and friendly service. Found the problem and fixed it quickly! Could have easily up-priced me and said it was something else, but didn't. Honest and experienced mechanics A+.

Came and got my car on Saturday, told me it could not be diagnosed until Tuesday. Tuesday comes and I call they say it STILL has not been looked at , it will be looked at the following morning. The following day comes and I called around 4pm, car STILL has not been looked at and can’t be looked at Wednesday OR Thursday. To make matters worse, they refuse to tow my vehicle back to where they got it from because they have “too much stuff to do”, if you were extra backed up with work, why even accept to come and get my car to begin with? Very unprofessional.

I cannot rate this place of business any higher! I wish I could remember the name of the gentleman that came to our rescue. The most kindest man you will ever meet. We were enroute to Chicago and were staying at the Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel and somehow I had misplaced my rental car keys. I was devastated and upon his arrival he immediately tried to calm my worst fear.. that the key had been dropped and picked up by a passerby. He helped me search endlessly but to no avail. He was then forced to open the car and at that point continued to help me look for the keys inside. Fortunately just a few minutes later my daughter found the keys in our hotel room! I want to thank him for his Ultimate kindness and re-creating the atmosphere from doom to hope :) May your kindness be rewarded in some fashion..

Owner was rude and made me feel like my business didn’t matter. I asked if I could speak to the manager and he said I was speaking to him, asked if there was anyone else I could speak to and his response was “honey, I’m the owner so you’re talking to who you can”. He then told me I was wasting the phone line and hung up..... all because I asked if I could schedule the tow.

Used them for years with no problems . They are something that doesn't exist anymore a hometown, family operated , honest automobile repair shop . They are honest, friendly and have very fair prices and will charge you a whole lot less than a dealer for fixing your car (and do just as good of a job) . As a 49 year old family ran business ourselves we highly recommend Downtown Automotive to our friends, family and all our customers past and resent

A great classic Chattanooga find for your automotive fix! But really! I love Bob, Clyde, Patrick, and the rest of the team at Downtown Automotive. They were great at listening to my needs and making sure they recommended the best parts, but also told me where I could save if I wanted (although you get what you pay for). Great team! Great service! Great prices!
