What a wonderful service! The woman at the entrance could not have been nicer. My only wish is they let people know of the need for an open bed vehicle for loading. The loading is done by dumping the mulch from the top. Maybe that's common sense for folks who regularly engage in activities like this, but this newbie foolishly thought I could cover the bed of my suv with tarp and the recycling staff would some how quickly shovel the mulch in there through the back hatch. An alternative would be to shovel it myself, but I'm pretty sure I'd be there till next year if I attempted that. :) Thanks Chattanooga for offering such a cool service! For free!!

Just Wow, the guy working the desk was incredibly rude and made several snarky, extremely unprofessional remarks, including calling me a racist for stating the facts. Was going above and beyond to find anyway possible to charge me for my brush and then proceeded to waste my time and do things out of spite bc I matched his energy, was using every little ounce of his power to make this a huge inconvenience for me. Talked to me disrespectfully had basically a gang of people harassing me and threatening to call the police on me and I most certainly broke no laws other than hurting their feelings. The supervisor had a "bad cop* mentality and wasn't willing to listen to my side of the story. Very unprofessional people down there. Avoid this place at all cost. Tried to tell me I couldn't come back. Why would we even hire people like this?

The lady at the office is super nice and it's a good price for the amount of brush you can bring.

As stated in many other reviews the lady that runs the scale and basically allows passage is an absolute difficult person to deal with. If you get sideways with her you will wait for at least 39 minutes to get dispatched for free mulch. Have the nerve to complain? Make it an hour. Can’t wait until she retires

Got old wood, dead wood, brush, or just trees to get rid of? This is the place to take it. You will pay 20.00 per ton to dump here and they only take credit or debit cards for payment. If you're a City resident you can dump for free! A neat trick to unloading alot of brush is to put a rope down first on the trailer or in the back of the truck and fill it up will your load. Tie a knot in one end, run the other end thru it and pull it up tight where the knot is in the center of the pile. This place has a large concrete block with a chain to tie to and your load will slide right off, no hand unloading necessary! Really nice people work here, sometimes they do offer assistance with big logs or monster pieces of wood.

This says "Wood Recycling Center" but it is actually where you come to recycle your good attitude into something more conducive with cutting yourself in the bathtub shortly after you've finished dumping your brush. Karen at the front counter will help you with this. Don't know all the procedures exactly when you get there? Well you should. She shouldn't have to tell them to you and it's a huge downer on her day that might have to. Don't have a pen? That's not her problem either. I'd suggest doing literally anything else with the material you were thinking of bringing here rather than taking direction on exactly the proper way to take brush out of your vehicle and put it into a giant pile of brush. (Trust me, you don't know how)

I arrived at the wood recycling center at approximately 3:52 on a Tuesday afternoon. The taxpayer paid city employee was taking care of an outbound truck so I pulled to the side and got out of my vehicle to be prepared to show my ID. After the driver had to retrieve a pen from his vehicle because the attendant couldn't or wouldn't provide one to him, he concluded his transaction. When I approached the window I was questioned if I had been there before and if I knew what time they closed. I replied I had been here before and that I was here at 3:55. At which point the attendant told me to look at my phone. It had just ticked over 4:00. She managed to stretch the prior transaction out just enough to be able to refuse me service because it was now 4:00 and they were closed. She proceeded to talk to me like I was knowingly committing a personal offense to her and that I must be some kind of idiot for presuming I could get something over on her. I have worked in public service most of my life and as much as it disappointed me when someone came in just under the wire, I served them because I realized I was in a position of service and because the "close" time is really more of a cutoff - everything doesn't shut down promptly at that time. Rather than arguing the point with her and risking "accidental" damage to my vehicle from a spiteful city employee while loading, I walked away and will return some other day. People employed at the leisure of the taxpayers are advised to remember that they are the employee of the taxpayer and not the other way around. I hope this review catches the eye of someone who appreciates that they chose to be in service to the public and can educate this attendant on the error of their ways. They should also be reminded that as Chattanooga residents we pay double taxes for the opportunity to take advantage of programs like this and do not have a choice in whether we pay them or not.

Fantastic place for city residents to obtain free mulch. The people who work here are wonderful and very helpful. Remember to bring your ID with you as they need to verify your address with each visit. Also, bring a tarp!

If you live in the city of Chattanooga limits this is where you would bring brush. However they treat you as if you are trying to cross the border illegally. Possibly operated by border patrol. The alternative is to put my brush at the street, use the 311 service and wait a month for them to pick it up. I felt I could be a better citizen and bring the pile of brush to where it’s all going to end up anyways. I’m out time and gas but they treat me like I’m Inconveniencing them.

Mostly friendly. The hours here are as bad as banking hours but the service is good.
