Very professional and courteous. The owner helped me with stuff I didn't originally go there for. The mechanic/paint and body guy was the best I've ever had work on my vehicle. I recommend them for anything your vehicle might need

I have never had a more pleasant experience working with a mechanic. When our transmission blew we got quotes from 2 other places, and we were not seeing any way to make it worth fixing, but we loved our old suburban and we knew (and so did all the mechanics we spoke with) if the tranny was fixed or replaced it would have another couple years of life in it. When we called Goods we found out that the price to rebuild would be a quarter of the price to replace, so we decided to go for it. But even still we weren't going to be able to pay for it immediately. Mark was clear about the costs and the expected amount of time once he began working on it, and after hearing the situation our family was in offered to park it for us until we came up with the money. Once we paid it, it took about a month to fix because being an old car, some new problems were discovered. Again the price for Mark to fix this was less than anyone around, and he called us any time he knew of an issue to ask us if we wanted him to fix it or to leave it and gave us a rundown of what to expect in prices. He was kind and understood we were not super financially stable so he was willing to work with us. He does NOT do payment plans as another review suggested and this day and age that is expected. Mechanics(especially small town, non franchise) get screwed over more often than not doing payment plans. But he was understanding and patient. It took a long time to fix, but he is one man and it was the busiest season for mechanics. Also, the work he did was thorough and it was obvious he took pride in making sure everything he did was done to perfection. No shortcuts here. I will forever recommend Goods for all your transmission needs and we will be going back in the future anytime it is needed.

My son (a student at PSU Altoona) called to tell me his truck wouldn't shift out of 3rd gear. I knew his 2000 Dodge Ram's trans needed rebuilt but I was 4 hours away. After reviewing all options, checking junk yard prices for a swap out and totaling everything up I went with Mark. $3800 might seem like a lot, but a full rebuild doesn't happen overnight, nor would I take a heart transplant from the "lowest bidder". Mark explained the process, was up front about the cost, amount of time it would take and even showed me the trans on his bench when almost finished. If you need a quality rebuild, let Mark take care of you. IF YOU'RE LOOKING TO PINCH PENNIES......go somewhere else. He's got 30 years of experience and you get what you paid for. I appreciate his craftsmanship and would take my next transmission need to him tomorrow.

Recently had a transmission rebuild done here on a 2008 Ford Ranger for my son. It took a little longer than we'd hoped, but that's life sometimes. After we got the truck back, we got some snow and when my son put the truck in 4wd, it got stuck. He called Goods and they talked him through how to fix this issue, and my son was able to get the part and replace it himself. Great customer service, is recommend to anyone needing work done.

33 days. Thats how long my Ford Transit was in this shop. It needed a new transmission, and this Transmission shop took over a month and $2800, with no options for monthly payments. No leeway shoulda been the first red flag for $2800, but ok. So 1 month and $2800 later, the transmission broke again 9 months later hah! Thankfully there was a warranty, but ha, would you believe he tried to pull a fast one at first! With an 18 month warranty, he wrote the WRONG YEAR! So when I came back, he said that was A YEAR + 9 months ago, which is 21 months, pushing me JUST out of warranty! HA! Eventually that got corrected, but would you believe this time took even longer to fix? I just ended up abandoning it and buying a new car as it was approaching the 60 day mark in the shop!!! HA! And yes i'm talking about Mark. I'm grateful everyone has had a better experience here, but I tell all my friends to avoid at all costs or beware!!

Was referred here by Chad Bender at Bender's Auto Service & Repair. Took me Jeep Patriot to Good's Transmission because it was having problems. Found out same day that I didn't have transmission issues and was a rather cheap fix. I now have a transmission shop for as long as I choose to live here in Altoona. Thanks.

I am so thankful I went here. I finally found a good honest mechanic. My door handle on my car fell off and so did my antenna and the dealership quoted me $360 for the door and $320 for the antenna. He just fixed it for free and said the door just needed put back together and He glued the antenna back on. Both work perfectly. He could have been greedy like the dealership, especially being a small business, but he didn't. Thank you so much.

Very curtious. They looked over my vehicle, and gave me a fair answer of what they found, and how they felt with the issues. Will definitely return if we ever need their services in the future.

He couldn't check my transmission because it is sealed, but he took it for a drive and he said it's good and he didn't charge me!
