Mike Goff and RJ were able to find a beautiful Subaru Crosstrek quickly after the total loss of my car. I highly recommend them because of their knowledgeability, honesty and efficiency. This is the second time that I have bought a car from Matthews Subaru in Vestal; anyone looking for new or used car should start there.

⭐ 1-Star Review — Very Disappointed in Customer Care I recently brought my car to Matthews Subaru for an inspection, and I left feeling completely dismissed and unsafe. After the inspection, I was abruptly told that I had a wheel bearing that was “bad” and had “a lot of play” in it. I was handed a paper with a repair estimate of over $600 and made to feel like my car was not safe to drive. What really upset me was that if my car was truly so dangerous, why was I sent back out onto the road with no assistance or options? The employee at the desk was in a hurry to get rid of me — no offer to help schedule the repair, no reassurance, nothing. When I asked if it could be fixed that same day, I was simply told “no, you need an appointment,” and then essentially ignored. I left the dealership feeling anxious about driving my own vehicle and extremely disappointed by the lack of concern for customer safety. This was the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced, and I will seriously rethink returning here in the future.

Great service. Bought our car here brand new in 2018. We still do all our service here. Really live the large inventory and polite employees. Prices are definitely going sky high but hopefully it gets better.

Lew was absolutely amazing, he took the time to answer all of my questions thoroughly and patiently. The experience only got better when Cole stepped in to assist with our loan; he was equally excellent and made the financing process smooth and stress-free. Hands down, this was the best car-buying experience we’ve ever had. As my wife said, “We’re buying every car from them!”

They always take great care of both of my Subies. Their courtesy drivers and all of their staff are always exceptionally friendly and professional, and they usually do a great job fixing issues in the cars. I've seen two mistakes ever, but that's far less than you'd see at most repair shops. I don't know when we're buying our next Subaru (they last forever), but I can definitely tell you where we'll be buying it from.

Charged for a loaner and given an attitude when confronted about charges added to our card without permission which is stealing. We got hung up on by the service team. Unprofessional, told we went 22 miles in a vehicle when my wife went to get a hair cut up the road at cost cutters and back a mile an change away. We don't appreciate liars.

Excellent customer service. We were on a road trip and our check engine light came on. Even though they had no openings in their schedule they took us in, fixed the problem and were so friendly, fast and helpful! If we lived here this would be our forever fix it shop! Highly recommend.

I am extremely disappointed with the way I was treated at Matthews. I stepped on the lot ready to purchase a vehicle that day. I had my loan in place and I desperately needed to replace my vehicle. As I walked around the lot perusing vehicles, salesmen saw me but ignored me. I was finally able to flag down Max, a young man who had been working there for three days. I waited for twenty minutes for him to find an experienced salesman, Dom. I knew what I wanted and how much I wanted to spend. After test driving a Subaru Legacy, I told him I was interested in the vehicle and I would return the next day so my husband could drive it, which I did. We returned the keys after the test drive and asked to have Dom call us back. Again, we were ignored and he never called us back. He knew we were interested in the Subaru Legacy. Throughout the sales process, we were left sitting and waiting for help while salesmen talked among themselves. We went to another dealership and received excellent service and purchased a vehicle the next day. What a shame….

We have purchased a few cars from Matthews Subaru. Kyle Youdas, our sales representative is amazing. He takes the time to make sure we get everything we want in a car within our price range. Dillon Affatato, the Sales Manager, has also been a great asset to us. He is also engaged during the sales process. Anytime we require service on our Subarus - Jared Kvaltine is super knowledgeable and always goes above and beyond. We could not asked for a better staff. We recommend all of our friends and family Matthews Subaru when they are looking for a vehicle.

I recently purchased a Subaru from this dealership and had an outstanding experience from start to finish. The team was incredibly patient, accommodating, and made the entire process smooth and stress-free. I worked with Sales Manager Brad F. and Sales Consultant Kyle Y., and both were fantastic—knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely helpful. They took the time to understand what I was looking for and offered great recommendations without ever making me feel pressured. I would strongly recommend a second opinion when Matthews recommends you need a repair. I came to the garage for a sensor fix (and I did appreciate that they included it with our warranty). Also got an oil change and all of the various air filters, which came to around $200. Matthews told that I needed front and back breaks and tires. Because I could not afford it all, I looked around for a competitive price. The garage I went to for the break repairs said "who told you that you needed breaks? They are maybe 20-30% worn!!!" Although everyone in the garage was so nice - they gave a toy to my child, they offered coffee and snacks while we waited and there was a nice kids area. But if you cannot trust your garage to be honest about the repairs you truly need, why would I go back unless another garage cannot do my repairs. I was so disappointed that I cannot trust them after this experience. Sadly, when I conveyed this story to some folks in our family, they were not surprised at all. They said they had heard this about Matthews. I cannot speak about the dealership part, just the service area.

I highly recommend anyone to go to Matthews. They truly are trying to help you. I bought a car from a different dealer and I started having issues within 1 week. I called Matthews and they got me in quick and fixed one of the issues but told me something else was wrong with my Clutch. After i brought it home we found a couple more potential issues that made me not too impressed with my first visit and really thought it should be looked at again. I called and talked to the Manager Joe about it. He listened to my concerns and was very apologetic, he offered for me to bring it back in and he would have one of his best guys give it a good looking at to see what they could find. Within a day he called me to tell me about the things that were wrong and even sent me pictures so I could see myself. They kept me in the loop the entire time and truly helped me more than i thought they would. I will continue to bring my vehicle(s) to Matthews for its routine maintenance and all other service needs. I cannot thank Matthews for helping me as much as they have. You will always have my business and i will recommend you to everyone i know.

I haven't completed my business here , still in the middle , but so far Dom is amazing! So patient. Very understanding, and extremely transparent and honest. I can’t wait to see the outcome but regardless, Dom is the person to get you through your car buying experience! Edit to say that I have completed my buying experience of my brand new wrx! Thank you to Dom! You truly are the best and I am grateful for all the help and guidance! The best part about Matthew’s and Dom is they do not pressure you. They make sure you are comfortable every step of the way. I was nervous about making this purchase and he made sure to be patient and gone through this without ever second guessing my decision. I ended up with everything I ever wanted in a vehicle! Thanks again! And the rest of the team that clapped and cheered during my approval thank you for that!

Dalton helped me with my purchase of a 2020 Subaru outback. I was torn between a Ram 1500 and the outback and Dalton helped me work through the decision by answering all my questions and running numbers for both vehicles. My mother-in-law just recently purchased a used 2017 Nissan Rouge SL from Chris and the whole process was great! They were able to get in her price range with an excellent 3 year warranty that will give her great peace of mind. Also, there were a few minor defects that they caught in their last 120 point inspection and they were able to fix it all before we came to pick it up. Overall it was a great experience!

This review is LONG overdue! So Rob Matthews, please take note of how much we love the staff that makes your store our only Subaru dealer. We have been customers for over a decade for Mazda, Subaru, and service. Mike McNeil was just as terrific today as he was 10 years ago when we chatted about my mint 2002 WRX (which was on your showroom floor way back when). His impression was not forgotten so, there was no question of who's desk to walk to when we considered our purchase. As busy as Mike was he met me where I was at giving me the service we wanted and needed when buying our 2024 Forester this February. And then again the following Monday when my mother-in-law also purchased a new 24' Crosstrek. I felt like I was treated really fairly on my trade, probably praise you don't often receive. Gil & Zach in service made the repairs of our 2010 a lot easier in helping facilitate a loaner as well as identifying my warranty would cover a CVT replacement I didn't know our 2016 needed. Everyone has been supremely diligent, kind, and terrific communicators in guiding me and my family in something that could otherwise be extremely frustrating. Buying, trading, and service of our cars. Thank you Matthews and please keep up the great work with these members of your team who clearly reflect the best and highest values of your business.

Came here to get an oil change and tire rotation. I was able to add an inspection at the last minute. Yay. It was completed within an hour while I waited in their waiting area, where drinks and snacks were provided. Not bad except my car came back with smudges from the mechanic on the interior of the driver side door.

This is the 3rd Subaru we've bought from Matthews and it's our 5th car from Matthews in the last 20 years. Rob Finta has always gone above and beyond to help us find the right car at the right price to fit our needs. He helped us get our first Subaru outback, then 4 years later he helped us upgrade to the Subaru Forester , and now 5 years later, he helped us upgrade to the 2024 Subaru Ascent. If you need a car, I highly recommend Rob Finta at Matthews Subaru, as he will do his best to take care of you and I can tell you from experience he's great to work with! He's the only person we'll buy a car from, because he's always taken care of us from the first day we met. In addition the staff at Matthews from the service department, sales, financing all have smiles on their faces and they treat their customers as valued customers.

My experience at Matthews Car Dealership has been very positive. I've bought two new vehicles there and had them consistently serviced since 2003. Friendly people! I'm sold on Subaru. Great Express Sercice team! I was greeted immediately by 2 smiling and welcoming people as I entered the express service door. They took my info and got me in right away. They even took the time to show where the customer lounges were located and not just point and grumble. They have 2 lounge areas with comfortable seating and tables for workspace if needed. They have a complimentary snack and coffee bar with cookies, soda, water, and coffee. This is a night and day difference in service Than how I've been treated by the Subaru dealership we primarily frequent in PA. My car needed some extra things and the service writer came right to me showed me and explained. Didn't talk down to me, rush me, or pressure me. This location is double the distance away for me but I'll be back. Going in for regular service every 2 to 2.5 months won't be so anxiety inducing now that I'll be treated like a wanted customer rather than an annoyance.
