Great park to go with you family to enjoy playing you favorite sports or having an event outdoors. It literally have a spot for everybody. Open areas to play sports or to have a picnic. A running track that have marks on it so you can keep track of how much you have run on the go. Nature life is pretty diverse too; there are many friendly animas around and if you lucky you can even see the deers in the wood or crossing the street as well as our ducky friends haha. They even got a spot for doggys if you bring them to the park. Also, there a skate ring as well as tennis courts around. It is a great place to spend the day. Defenitely recomended.

I have been walking the 2 Mile Loop & the Lake area 5 days a week for over a year. It's lovely and well kept. Some images from the past month...

NEWARK: Branch Brook Park is a true gem, renowned for its breathtaking springtime cherry blossoms and celebrated as the nation’s first county park open to the public. Spanning over 360 acres, its winding paths are perfect for a scenic stroll with your leashed pup. We were lucky to visit during their vibrant Diwali festival, a joyful celebration of Indian culture filled with color and community. Throughout the year, the park hosts a variety of events, so keep an eye out for seasonal happenings. Beyond the blossoms, you will find a dog park, playgrounds, sports courts, public art installations, and plenty of open space to explore. Fun fact: Branch Brook Park boasts the largest collection of cherry blossom trees in any U.S. Park and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, so you are walking through history as well as beauty. For extended adventures, the 36-mile Lenape Trail connects Branch Brook to other parks across neighboring towns. With multiple entrances and parking areas, it is easy to find your way in. We recommend starting at the Cherry Blossom Welcome Center, it is a great launch point for your visit!

Branch Brook Park is such a beautiful place, especially during cherry blossom season — it’s absolutely stunning and perfect for photos! I’ve done birthday parties here and even took my Sweet 16 pictures in the park, and the scenery made everything look amazing. The park has plenty of space to walk, relax, or have a picnic, and when the trees are blooming, it honestly feels like something out of a movie. The only downside is that it’s not in the best area, so it’s good to stay aware of your surroundings, especially in the evening. Other than that, it’s a great spot for family gatherings, photoshoots, or just enjoying nature. Definitely worth visiting when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom — it’s breathtaking! 🌸🌳📸

Only went to the dog park and it was nice. 1 area for large dogs and 1 for small. Really nice that everyone abided by the size of their dog. My dog was comfortable and at ease. Loved it.

It bears repeating that this park is a beauty any time of year, but especially October and April. To echo many of the other positive reviews, I’ve been frequenting this park regularly over the last year and a half and I’m glad I found out about it! It’s easily the most beautiful urban park of NJ, if not the planet! It’s truly a gem, particularly in the spring and fall, and a relaxing place where you can walk for at least a couple hours admiring the native plants and the abundant squirrels. I love the extensive soft “track” path. Many sports fields, trees for hammocks, benches, clean bathroom facilities (open from spring to fall) and port-o-potties make this an all around 5-star park that offers something for everyone. Many thanks to the volunteers and caretakers for keeping it beautiful! Sign up online to get involved with their efforts.

We visited the Branch Brook park for the cherry blossoms and walked from one end of the park to the other end in about 3 hours. What a gorgeous park!! Cherry blossoms: If your main focus is the cherry blossom trees, the best areas to visit are around the cherry blossom welcome center and the south loop around the large lake. There are so many types of cherry blossoms - different colors, a variety of sizes and plenty of photography options. We visited on a weekend and even though the park was crowded, we had several opportunities to find quiet places and enjoy the blossoms. Do visit the welcome center for some history on the cherry blossom trees. The rest of the park is equally beautiful with lush green fields, large lakes and playing areas. We found a pretty river near the welcome center as well. There are food trucks selling hot dogs and ice creams around the park. Parking seemed to be available at many different points but was pretty full owing to the weekend crowd. We took the light rail that had several stops along the park and offered some really great views along the way. Happy spring time!

This was a beautiful park with lots of walking areas and street side parking. It does get a bit tricky moving through some area of the park as certain busy rodes cut through it, but shouldn't be a huge problem once you cross carefully in the designated areas. There is an area in the park where you can get an amazing view of Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, with the pond as a foreground. Highly recommend this area for pictures and definitely a beautiful stroll on a nice day. We came for the Sakura trees in a misty day, and we were still able to enjoy it. So many cherry blossom trees throughout the park! You can pretty much start anywhere and walk around to enjoy the experience.

Such a beautiful area. Clean for the most part. Great for photos. I saw people taking grad pictures. There was a wedding couple taking photos as well. Lots of babies and families having picnics and couples enjoying a stroll. Pretty quiet for being right next to the road. Beautiful healthy looking trees and grass. Needs more trash cans.

I went April 17 which is usually peak Cherry Blossoms. However, I think because of the recent weather, (lots of rain, high winds) the blossoms weren’t as full and dense as previous years. They were still pretty nonetheless. Great park to hang with the family and the pets. Parking can be tricky but lots of street parking. Be careful because a busy Main Street with limited crosswalks cuts through the middle of the park.

Branch Brook Park is a gem in the heart of Newark that brings nature to life in an urban setting. What makes it truly special is the stunning display of over 5,000 cherry blossom trees—more than even Washington, D.C.! Whether you’re walking, biking, or fishing, the park offers a peaceful escape with plenty of space to explore. Cherry blossom season is hands down the best time to visit—the views are unreal, and the atmosphere is like something out of a postcard. Just across the street, don’t miss the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart—one of the largest and most beautiful cathedrals in the country. Its breathtaking architecture and stained glass windows add a historical and cultural touch to your visit, making the whole area feel even more special. If you’re from New Jersey and haven’t been yet, it’s definitely a must-see.

Visited Branch Brook Park on April 19 during Easter weekend and had such a great time. There was an egg hunt for kids and they were giving out free hot dogs which was a really nice surprise. Most of the cherry blossoms had already fallen but it was still really pretty. When the wind blew and petals floated down it felt super peaceful and beautiful. There’s a fun playground for kids and a welcome center nearby so restrooms weren’t an issue. It’s a great spot for a family day out and we’d love to visit again.

Visited the park yesterday with some friends to enjoy the cherry blossoms and have a picnic. The weather was pleasant, and the environment was really good overall. We especially appreciated the playground, which was great for the kids to have fun! To make the experience even better, it would be great to see more benches available throughout the park. Also, adding some dedicated picnic tables would be a fantastic addition for visitors looking to dine al fresco. Despite these small suggestions, it was a lovely visit and a beautiful spot for enjoying nature and family time.

Branch Brook Park Review Branch Brook Park is a beautiful place to spend the day, whether you're walking, biking, or fishing. I visited during cherry blossom season, which was absolutely stunning. Even on a Wednesday afternoon, the park was quite crowded—especially around the paved paths—so biking there was a bit tricky. However, the park is huge, and if you have a mountain bike, there are plenty of areas to enjoy a peaceful ride away from the crowds. There’s ample parking, and despite spending a good amount of time there, we only saw a fraction of what the park has to offer. One of the highlights is that Branch Brook Park has the largest collection of cherry blossom trees in the country. It’s truly a sight to see. The park was designed by the Olmsted Brothers, the sons of Frederick Law Olmsted, the renowned landscape architect who designed Central Park. Their vision and attention to natural beauty really shine through in every corner of the park.

I don't know that I've ever posted a review or pictures from here, but it is one of my favorite places, and I go often. The bathrooms are easy to find if you use the interactive map from their website. The least busy time to go is early morning, at least before noon. The busiest time is during the Cherry Blossom blooming. That is the time of the pictures I posted. They are beautiful but I do wish more people do not know about this park. 🧠🤯FUN FACTS: Essex County Branch Brook Park has the largest and most varied collection of Japanese Flowering Cherry Blossom trees in the United States; with 5,300 in 18 varieties. 🌸 It's that time of year and I was blessed to be able to visit one of the largest displays of cherry blossoms! They also have a Webcam setup that you can watch online and see if they are still blooming or to just get a preview. Nothing beats being there in person

If you’re looking for a perfect spring day, Branch Brook Park during the Cherry Blossom Festival is the place to be! The cherry trees are absolutely stunning — just look at how gorgeous they are (sharing a few pics!). Some trees were like waterfalls of pink petals, and it honestly felt like being inside a painting. The park is massive, so even though it gets crowded during the festival, there’s plenty of space to spread out. We loved chilling by the lake near the fountain — the view with the cathedral in the background was just beautiful and super peaceful. Perfect spot to sit, relax, and people-watch. The Prudential Concert Grove area had groups flying kites, picnicking, and just enjoying the vibes. It’s a very family-friendly place, and you can tell people come prepared with blankets, snacks, and good energy. Parking can be a little tricky during peak times, but once you’re in, it’s totally worth it. The blooms, the breeze, and the smiles all around made it such a happy experience. Highly recommend visiting during peak bloom if you can — it’s pure magic!

Ended up visiting Branch brook park multiple times last week with the 5300 cherry blossom trees in full bloom. The views are breathtaking as every year. The falling blossoms and the sweet fragrance add to the beauty of the park. Restrooms are available multiple places.

The Cherry Blossoms in full bloom. Absolutely stunning to see. you don’t even have to get out of the car if you don’t want to. Went on a cloudy day , I can only imagine how much more beautiful they would be on a sunny day !

Home to the largest collection of Japanese cherry blossom trees in the U.S. Absolutely stunning and peaceful, especially during bloom season. Can get crowded with traffic after 4 PM and on weekends, but still worth the visit.

Went today for the Cherry Blossom Festival. There's absolutely no parking for such a big event that's only held this one time of year so plan accordingly if you're there in April. The park is beautiful and the cherry blossoms were spectacular.

Branch Brook Park in Newark, New Jersey, is renowned for its stunning cherry blossoms, boasting the largest collection of Japanese flowering cherry trees in the United States, with over 5,000 trees across 18 varieties. The park’s annual Cherry Blossom Festival celebrates this vibrant display each spring. Popular spot for cherry blossoms in New Jersey and photo shoots Visitor Experiences: We describe the cherry blossoms as breathtaking. One time, we noted that the park is especially beautiful in April when the cherry blossoms are in bloom, recommending weekday visits for a less crowded experience. Another visit highlighted that the park was busy but not overly crowded during the Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival, emphasizing the beauty of the blossoms. Best Time to Visit: The peak bloom period typically occurs in the second and third weeks of April. However, the exact timing can vary depending on weather conditions. For the most current updates, it’s advisable to check the Branch Brook Park Alliance’s social media pages. Visitor Tips: • Timing: Weekday visits are recommended to avoid weekend crowds. Our recent visit to Branch Brook Park marked the beginning of the cherry blossom season—a hint of beauty in its early stages. Although only a few trees were adorned with delicate blooms, their soft pink and white petals added a touch of magic to the landscape. It’s the kind of subtle charm that makes you appreciate nature’s quiet unfolding. Enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere as spring teased its way into full bl🌸✨

Great park! I went there to see the Cherry Blossoms. They weren't in full bloom yet. I was a week too early. I was able to see a few of them, and they were beautiful!

Park, a breathtaking oasis, proved to be an enchanting paradise during my visit on April 1st to witness the cherry blossom spectacle. Surprisingly uncrowded, it offered an unparalleled view of the blossoms nearing full bloom, adorning numerous trees with a vibrant array of colors. Amidst serene walkways, playgrounds, and soothing fountains, the park emerged as a haven of nature—a sanctuary for the soul. With impeccably clean restrooms enhancing the experience, the only slight challenge was parking, which varied depending on the park's entry point but remained manageable. Overall, Park encapsulates the essence of natural beauty and tranquility, making it a true haven for the local community.

Went to see the cherry tree blossoms today, 4/1/24, and with the drizzle, the park was so lush looking. I got there around 10 am, and the park was pretty much empty so there were plenty of parking spaces. The blossoms have not reached peak bloom so there is still time to view if you catch my review in time.
