Worst experience I’ve had with a towing company. AJ’s Towing & Recovery charged me $588 to release my vehicle and immediately tried to force a cash-only payment, despite payment methods being required to be more flexible. I had to involve the police just to resolve the situation and retrieve my car.
After getting it back, I noticed visible damage that wasn’t there before. When I reported it, they refused to take any responsibility or even acknowledge the issue. The entire process felt unprofessional and poorly handled from start to finish.

They are very expensive. The staff is very rude. I was told that we have to give them 30 minutes in advance to meet them at their tow yard in Newark and we waited an hour for them to show up. While waiting I called and the man that answered the phone was rude. He yelled at me over the phone and hung up on me.
Terrible experience. My car was towed from a hotel parking lot at 11:32 PM even though I was a guest with a valid parking pass. They claim they wait 45 minutes for someone to claim their vehicle, but my family and I were asleep and no one from the hotel ever tried to contact us. The car was booted and towed, separate prices for both…double the payment VERY LAUGHABLE!
The next morning I had to pay $565 to get my car back. When I arrived, the gate was chained with no office or sign. Someone eventually pulled up, blocked the entrance, and made me hand over the cash in the rain, counted it while I was get soaked. After taking the money, he simply pointed to a far corner of the lot where my car was surrounded by other vehicles, many without license plates.
The entire situation felt extremely unprofessional and questionable damn near felt like a kidnapping in progress. I would strongly advise people to be careful.
We are very happy with the services AJ Towing provided for us today. Even though there are still mounds of snow and we are on a very narrow street, they were fast and the service was top-notch. I would recommend them to anyone in need of a tow. Thanks again!
