I'm a firm believer in saving a couple bucks. I've been all over the country and been to a few salvage yards. Genes is always been super helpful and treat me very well!! With two great locations one in Traverse City and the other Cadillac that you always have what you need. Don't forget they'll also ship for a very nominal fee. We have five stars which I don't get very often goes to genes.

They do a better job than most salvage yards pulling parts. I have not received many damage products in all my years of using them. The same cannot be said about LKQ.

Great customer service. I picked up a handful of really small/specific parts for my car in attempt to solve an electrical issue and find nicer parts for my interior, and John was super accommodating with returns and exchanges when I realized I bought the wrong/unnecessary parts. I’m sure I was a pain to deal with but they were accommodating nonetheless.

I may not know much about cars, but I’ve learned how important it is to have a mechanic you can trust — and that’s exactly what Gens Auto is. They’re always kind, patient, and take the time to explain things in a way I understand. It’s such a relief knowing my car is in good hands. I don’t need to go anywhere else.

Called to check condition on a frame listed on Car-Part.com, I tell him i'm in central MN, and if its good, ill buy it so they can pull it, and I will have it picked up. He tells me. Drive out here and go to the yard and look at it yourself.

They may always have your part but the customer service aspect of this place is trash. No help from the employees or anything. Like be for real guys. Show some respect to the people who help pay for your paycheck. The chick the piercings was the worst of them all and needs to find a job not in customer service.

Even though our shop literally moves engines and transmissions all day long with forklifts, hoists, chains, you name it — this genius of a salesman decides to bill me for a Prius C battery and then acts like I need to call in FEMA and the National Guard to move it five feet. The thing weighs 40 pounds. My 10-year-old daughter could toss it in the trunk while holding an ice cream cone. He acted like I was taking delivery of the Hoover Dam and refused to ship it on the assumption we weren't well enough equipped to take possession of the brake rotor, I mean battery. He lost the sale. We took our money elsewhere. Attached is a picture of the battery (about the size of 2 hands or 2 rotors and weighs 30-40 pounds). Really pathetic to not know what you are selling. Cost his business a 1 star review and a lost sale. The sales person probably uses a forklift to move a brake rotor.

I gotten there almost closing time and they still helped me out plus the price was well worth the ride from Gaylord Michigan

Lots of vehicles to choose from. My first time there and the lady at the front was nice and very helpful. Got exactly what I needed. Also she made sure the vehicle was on the ground and not stacked as I have different abilities than I did before.

My collision shop is located in Pittsburgh PA. The part I needed has been on backorder for months. Gene's was the only recycler within 800 miles with the part I needed. (None of the cali yards would ship) Thankfully Jenna at Gene's was able to help me out. They were willing to ship the part to us. I dealt with Jenna and she was great. I had to call her a number of times. The other people that I was able to speak to were also very kind and helpful. If you need a part that they have definitely go ahead and trust them with your order!

Have been doing business with them for many years and they have the best prices on used parts. Amazing customer service and staff! Would highly recommend checking them out if you are in the marked for some used parts!

Went to find parts for a customer and was told i had to buy the whole axle to get my part off it Forced to buy whole assembly to get 1 part -AGGRESSIVE FEMALE- employee with limited knowledge of parts value aka there someone who will give me more for it Any salvage yard that says ask me before you pull it means UNRELIABLE SALE it might be there but will they sell it to you

Found exactly what we needed. Very affordable. Jenna is a Rockstar! She set everything up to have a part delivered right to the mechanic and was knowledgeable and very nice to work with. Would definitely recommend!

Great deal on used parts and one of the only places open on Saturday.

I can't believe I'm making a review for a junk yard, but here I am. Just bought an older vehicle that needs some random pieces that I can't find online. I called and spoke to a very nice lady and she let me know that they didn't have anything on the lot that was specifically meant for my car, but told me that other years of my vehicle have interchangeable parts so to drive down and come look around. I live in kalkaska, so I drove all the way past chums corner to Gene's. Pulled in and went inside to ask where I could find the parts cars that may work for my car. A different lady helped us and was very rude, seemed to be annoyed that we were even asking questions. She looked up in the computer my make and model and told me she can't help me. I asked to go look at the lot and see if I could make something work, she said nope, I'm not allowed to, people can't just go walk around to find parts. She said if their system didn't say they had it then they didn't have it. So after realizing she wasn't going to be any help and already seemed annoyed to be helping us we left. It was very frustrating because we drove all the way over to be told that they can't help us. Waste of my time. But the lady that I spoke to on the phone was super nice and this experience wasn't her fault.

The staff was very courteous professional and accommodating I was late getting there but because I traveled from Muskegon Heights Michigan to Travers City Michigan to do business with them and having problems with directions they stayed open 45 minutes past closing time just to allow me time to get there. Not very many people and places that will do that especially on a Saturday will definitely recommend them to anybody and will definitely do business with them again. And I forgot to tell you their prices were very reasonable and the quality of the product A1.

They are very knowledgeable and helpful about vehicle parts. They provided me with the parts I needed. They also allowed me to remove parts from their yard and gave me directions to find the right vehicle. One of their mechanics was nice enough to borrow me with a tool I didn’t have. I have been making Genes my first choice for over 27 years I have lived in the area. They stay very busy and well staffed.
