I was more than pleased with my experience with Manchester Transmission. My Honda broke down in Willimantic. The garage that picked it up gave me the code and said the transmission had to be reprogrammed and only could be done by a dealer. So the y towed it to the dealer. They had the car for 6 days and told me I need a new transmission at a cost of $10,000.00. I called Manchester Transmission and spoke to Jay. Jay told me that signal had nothing to do with a mechanical problem with the transmission. After 8 days at the dealer and explaining to them what I had found out they said no it needed a new transmission and the don’t even test the Transmission Control Modular. So because the car would move I paid the dealer $219.00 and took my car directly to Jay at Manchester Transmission that was late morning or early afternoon. The next morning Jay called me and said the car was fixed. He reprogrammed the TCM which is what he told me it was to begin with. He said take it and drive it the next couple of days before returning to Florida. He charged me $159.00. I drove 2 days with 0 problems. 3 days later we drove home to Florida it is still operating just fine. Thanks to Jays honestly and expert knowledge he saved us thousands. Because at that point he could have told me anything and I would have had to have it done.l. If you need any type of Automobile work or Transmission problem I highly recommend you call and take it to Jay at Manchester Transmission. Thank you again Jay we really appreciate your honesty as well as your knowledge and kindness. Car was fixed in on day compared to the dealer having it for 8 days and not even fixing anything. They are supposed to be the experts. Not in my opinion I say Manchester Transmission and Jay are the real experts. Not only experts but honest and fair.

I brought my car here after it had been at the dealership for a week without them being able to truly diagnose and fix the problem. Jay and his team diagnosed the problem, explained it to me, and fixed it quickly, and now I have my car back without the stress! I hope I never have transmission issues again with future cars, but if I do, I would definitely bring it to Manchester Transmissions.

I couldn’t be happier about putting this review on for Manchester transmissions. We had a Nissan juke that my son absolutely loved and we put a ton of work into. Unfortunately, it started having transmission issues. we brought it to Manchester transmissions and Jay was able to diagnose that the transmission was damaged beyond repair. But instead of charging us money and taking it apart, he was able to diagnose it for free. It’s rare to find such an honest and humble shop and person in the auto repair business. I was so grateful for his help and for saving us so much money! This is a shop you can trust!

The news was not great, but the service was. Jay was very honest, quick, and helpful with assessing my car. Would use them in a heartbeat in the future if needed!

Brought my son’s Infiniti to Manchester transmission thinking the transmission was going bad because it wouldn’t shift to 3rd gear. It ended up being a bad alternator and battery that was causing the transmission computer to not function properly. They repaired it in a timely manner and were very pleasant to communicate with. The shop is immaculate which is always a sign of prideful owners. This is basically a good old fashioned and honest shop. Highly recommend!

I had brought my vehicle first to my dealership in which i came across multiple problem's as they checked my car and worked on it. They were over charging me, cutting hoses, defective parts, not putting the correct reason on the work order, not telling me when they were fixing an isuue until i got the bill. A 2 hour job turned into 1 week. A week later we brought my vehicle to Manchester Transmission due to an alert stating " Safely stop engine hot " and found out ny car had no antifreeze in it, due to the the clamp on the hose which was defectice along with other multple issues..Manchester Tranmission is the Best place to take any vehicle. Experienced, Friendly & Honest Staff. They called everytime an issue was found to get authorization to fix it. They even saved me money, half of what my dealership would have charged. I Highly recommend this establishment!!

This place is incredible and Jay is the best. He kept us up to date with what was going on with the car and we could not be happier with how it runs now (better than when we first got it). I brought a previous car there years ago and never forgot how the Jay fixed an issue common to Accords (a couple hundred dollars) in a day when two other shops told me I needed a new transmission (several thousand dollars). If you're ever in doubt of a repair estimate PLEASE take your car to Manchester Transmission.

As good as it gets! Most people we know with mid 2010 Suburban, Tahoe etc. models have had problems with their transmissions. We gambled with a 2015 Tahoe with 100,000 miles and the transmission failed almost immediately. Manchester Transmissions fixed it and we were back on the road in 2 days. Our friends have not been so lucky. They stand by their work and communicate well. This shop has a level of integrity that's hard to find. ...thanks guys!

Manchester transmission rebuild my old Chevy transmission and it shifts better than ever. Truck feels strong again, I've been hauling with it and extremely happy with the performance! A+ I would recommend to friends and family.

Jay and his team saved me $6000. I brought my car to the dealer because I was experiecing some issues with my car and they told me I needed a new transmission. I brought my car here instead and Jay was able to confirm within the 1st hour of me bringing my car in that I didnt need a new transmission. Thank God for this shop!! My husband originally brought our car to AAMCO and was given a price of over $8000 for a rebuilt transmission. I called another shop (because I know nothing about cars) to get a rough estimate. They gave me a price of $4100 so I called for a tow to get car to other place....well thankfully car was brought to Manchester Transmissions by accident but they got us in and were so honest about what was going on with car!! Kept me informed every step of the way and final price was about $1700!!!!! NOW THAT IS A WIN!!! We know who to go to now for sure

Can't say enough good things about this place! Jay is very honest and resourceful. He gave me updates on the car every step of the way and was happy to show me what they were doing.They took on a difficult project for an obscure 80s car with no issue. They went above and beyond with repairing this car and I couldn't be happier! I'd recommend Manchester Transmissions to anyone and would certainly use them again. Took my 2020 explorer there with a significantly hard downshift. Jay researched and found out the vehicle was still barely in warranty and recommended a Ford dealer he had a good relationship with. He could have easily just quoted the transmission work and I would have never been the wiser - refreshing to see there are still honest shops. Will definitely be returning should I ever have a need out of warranty.

I talked to Jay. They are so honest I highly recommend you go there if you have tranny problems. He could have told me anything. He could have charged me Any thing I would have no idea. But he did not do that. He said it Will cost a lot of money to rebuild it’s ok to keep driving it. I so appreciate his honesty. The tranny is not slipping and is changing gears ok but the check engine light gave me a transmission code. If I could give him 10 stars I would. Great honest place to take your car. We had a very positive experience dealing with Jay from Manchester Transmissions. He explained to us what the issue was and gave us a couple of options as to what we could do to solve the problem. The job took four days to complete, and Jay made sure to touch base with us a few times over the course of that time to give us regular updates. Our vehicle was ready to be picked up a day early, which made us very happy. We would highly recommend using Manchester Transmissions.

Can't recommend them enough. Had a family member make a mistake that we thought was going to break the transmission. Jay was able to diagnose and fix the issue without the transmission needing to be replaced! Honest work at a great price. Let’s get straight to it. I been having transmission problems for about 3 months & been to 3 different shops and the dealership. Nobody could figure out what was going on. The dealership said I needed a whole new transmission. I said before I make my big decision to get rid of the car or get a transmission I was referred to Manchester transmissions and they were a wonderful help. Friendly service makes you seem like you knew these guys forever. They were able to diagnose my problem within an hour. Now my car runs perfect and I am so thankful for them. I will refer them any day of the week.

I brought my wife Lexus to the dealership willing to pay more for their experience and tools and knowledge due to a difficult shifting concern. They tried selling me a new transmission based on historic codes that I gave them when they were unable to duplicate the concern. I called up jay and asked for a quote to replace the transmission solenoid based on my own research. He put me in my place, schooled me on the process, told me he was not looking to charge me money for an improper diagnosis just for me to leave with the same problem. He diagnosed the problem, fixed it sooner than he said was possible, and it cost us 1/3 the price. The process was easy, honest, and jay seems to truly care about the customers! I first took my vehicle to the dealer who told me I would need a brand-new transmission ($6,100), plus shop fees and tax. I decided to research and seek out a second opinion. I decided to call up Manchester Transmission on Sheldon Rd and spoke to Jay. He was very respectful and listened to what I described over the phone. I setup a time to go to the shop. My first impressions of the customer lobby business area were that it was clean and functional. Jay even provided me a tour of the shop... showing me the garage bay area as well as the stock room/ transmission repair area. Everything was systematic and laid out in a very functional manner. After Jay confirmed that my transmission was on the early stages of failure and the transmission was inspected outside the truck, he provided me some options and his personal recommendations of what he would do if it were his truck. After addressing all my questions and concerns I authorize the work. It took about 5-6 days. Throughout that time Jay provided updates as they worked on my truck. It has now been about 2 months since Manchester Transmission rebuilt and upgraded my transmission. My truck is running strong, and the shifts are crisp and solid. I was referred to this company and was told that if I had any questions about my transmission, this is the place to go. I was not disappointed. A professional gentleman name Jay did a free diagnostic evaluation on my car and told me my transmission was in good standing. One thing I believe in doing before entering an establishment is checking reviews on it. I was not disappointed with Manchester Transmissions Inc. Since I was referred by a reputable establishment, I would like to pay it forward and refer anyone who has questions or issues with their transmissions to give Manchester Transmissions Inc. a call.

Manchester Transmission has been a trusted "go to" place for any transmission work I've ever had. Jay the co-owner is quick to answer the phone and give you an accurate read on what he thinks could be going on. The following experience with Jay exemplified his professionalism and dedication to quick and QUALITY service. This review will be long winded though details are critical in this review. The last time I contacted him was in April of 2021 when I was in New Hampshire some 150 miles from Manchester. My car had some sort of missed shifting as I rounded a turn....very unusual. Being somewhat technical, my first read was low transmission fluid. I grabbed my phone to call Jay though it was 6:30 pm, well beyond closing time. Leaving my message I expected a call the next day though 15 minutes later Jay called ! We discussed the issue and he gave me real time advice in determining if my car was leaking oil from a certain area particular to my model car. This advice was critical in assessing my next move, getting back to Manchester which was done with no issues. The next day Jay brought the car in and accessed the codes with a long test drive to try to replicate my issue. He probably spent a couple hours looking into my car and found NOTHING wrong. Other transmission facilities could have taken advantage of me in this situation. Jay did not. There was no charge for his work which I thought clearly exceeded my expectations though it must be said that in all the 3-4 times work has been done at Manchester Transmission it has been done on time and at the price quoted. I trust this outfit to do excellent work.

Had some transmission issues with my car and called around a few places and checked reviews. After getting a few quotes and reading the reviews for Manchester Transmission, I decided to bring my car to Jay. Really glad I did. Jay was on top of it and let me know everything that was going on with my car. He even pointed out a few other things that were going on with my steering and fixed those for me as well, saving me a ton in labor costs since some of those parts were being accessed during my transmission fix. After getting my car back I noticed a tremendous difference in the way it drives and I couldn't be happier. It's like having a new car! I brought my 54 Ford custom here because every time I asked who to take it for transmission work, it was `Manchester Transmission`. I knew being a Hot Rod owner an a car guy, there was more problems than transmission. ( I had just bought this car last fall). Jay kept me updated on their progress almost daily (3 calls one day) letting me know progress and potential problems. This is not just a transmission shop. I had a trans rebuild, rear main seal, timing chain, and a fabricated bracket that I was missing. Jay and his crew are masters at what they do. Jay gave Karen and I a tour of the place. Jay was amazing from start to finish. My car was at another mechanic, and I didn’t feel comfortable driving it to his shop with my kids. He picked it up himself and called as soon as it was at his shop. From the moment he had my car he kept me in the loop with EVERYTHING. He understood I don’t have much knowledge with cars and when I said I may need my dad or sister to call back and have him explain everything all over again, he was happy to do so. After all the work with my transfer case needing to be replaced, more work was needed on different parts of my car and he advised me to go for it since the labor was already partially being done. Also, Jay let me know I needed new tires, as mine were different heights and contributed to my transfer case going bad. Instead of just telling me and letting me figure it out, he WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND, in my opinion, and had 2 different prices for me on tires, but also encouraged me to talk to my dad and sister and get other quotes from tire stores near me. I cannot rave enough about Manchester Transmissions. I will forever be a customer of Jays and will most definitely be recommending him to anyone who needs transmission repair. I brought my diesel truck to Jay to have the transmission built to handle the performance parts I had and planned on doing. Jay was very helpful and was able to build me exactly what I was looking for. He had excellent communication throughout the whole process (which took a couple weeks to figure out all the details to make sure I was satisfied). I felt as if he cared about the project more than just trying to earn my business. The transmission seems to perform exactly as intended and I am fully confident if I have any issues he will be sure to help. I would recommend his shop to anyone.

My 2005 Subaru had a sudden transmission problem as I was driving it. When I pulled over there was a huge puddle of transmission fluid, and I was sure I was going to need to replace the transmission. After researching local shops, I decided to have my car towed to Manchester Transmissions. The owner, Jay, was able to tell me within an hour that a broken hose clamp caused the issue, and that with any luck my transmission might be okay. He fixed the issue and the transmission was fine, so what I thought might be a very expensive repair turned out to be a very affordable one. Jay was helpful and honest -- great customer service and professionalism.

I was having a problem with my car and brought it to my local repair shop. I was told the problem was likely my the transmission. I brought the car to Manchester Transmission because they were highly recommended by a friend. Manchester Transmission checked the transmission for free (and would not even accept a tip for the time they spent checking the car). I dropped the car off the night before and it was ready for pick up well before noon the next day. Thankfully it was not my transmission and Jay referred me to another repair shop to fix the problem. By far, it was the best customer service experience of any auto repair shop. I will most definitely recommend Manchester Transmission. Also, just a quick word on the friend who recommended Manchester Transmission. His car did need work on the transmission. However, rather than take the job, Jay referred my friend back to his dealer where the transmission was repaired under warranty. Honesty and excellent customer service!
