20260201 Stopped here around 4 on Monday, no line. I drove to recycle an old router and toner cartridge, then around to the right to hazardous waste to recycle a mercury UV lamp. The employees are always nice. If you are recycling computer, electronics, toner cartridges, etc... upon entering the property, you will see the E WASTE sign in front of you right after the info booth. If you want to recycle other things, stay to the right, drive to the back and drive left around the property to various waste stations. There are huge signs that you can't miss. 20251210 Line was sooo long today. I arrived a little after 3:30. So thankful a nice man leaving the station informed me to turn around. Looks like for household items, stay in the right lane. 202206 it has been a few years since I came here. Everyone was so nice, friendly and helpful. I told the man at the ticket booth the items I'm dropping off ... paint, toner cartridges, UV bulbs, and a modem. There is no cost to these items. There is a section for electronics and another for pretty much everything else I was dropping off on the right, far back. To get to one section to another, I had to circle back to the ticket booth. The 2nd time, I skipped the ticket line. Hope it was ok. There are plenty of directional signs. The employees here are very helpful. I guess many people are confused on where to go for what, like me. I was dropping off UV bulbs, a toner cartridge, and batteries. I followed the signs and picked "household waste" first. It took me passed the fluid/oil area on the right then I found the shed for batteries. After dropping off the batteries, while facing the stop sign to exit, I backed up and when U turn to my right following the household sign. The guy took the UV bulbs. Two down and 1 more to go... Toner cartridge. He told me to turn left at the stop sign and loop around and it will take me up the hill to electronics. I got to an area where there was no more signs to direct me where to go. I pull up this booth for tickets? The guy said to toss the cartridge in the trash. I told him that the cartridge can be recycled. He told me to try electronics. I continued ahead, and the guys in electronics were more friendly and helpful. He took the cartridge and off I went to find my way out. I wish this center is organized like an assembly line so that I didn't have to loop around to go into another line. Luckily, I went during the week, Friday, around 230-3 when people are just getting out of work. If it was busy, it would have been a challenge to maneuver around the property from one line to another while waiting and trying to get around cars. I recommend organizing your things in groups to speed up the drop off process for you, the people working there and the people who might be waiting. For the UV bulbs, I had to remove them from the cardboard boxes, because they will only take the bulbs.

Maybe have the guys working there not harass the women who come through to drop off trash.

Had to dispose of a broken freezer. The staff were helpful and gave clear directions where to drop it. Easy experience.

It is free to recycle cardboard boxes, mixed papers, and clothing. The recycling area is before you enter the solid waste area. I almost got stuck in the long line waiting to get into the solid waste area when I realized I could pull into the recycling area to the left of the long line.

We came here to dispose of our electronic waste. The process was quick but a bit chaotic. We didn't have to pay anything.

After 30 years of using this refuse station I finally am fed up with the BS! The prices are extremely expensive and are dictated by what mood the check in person is in. Construction, house trash, anything you bring will be scrutinized at the check in station and again at the dumpster pull up AND AGAIN with the walk around bitchy monitors. Go somewhere else if you don't mind a bit longer of a drive

In this place they charge you whatever they want, this morning I went through the scale, what I had was boxes and some trash, not heavy at all. But they charge me $30. The policy says $72 per ton. This is ridiculous ?

The chemical and battery recycling center is closed even during operating hours. Just went there today at 11:22 am 11/13/2024 and the gate was lock yet again...I could see people in there too. I can't keep driving up there during there normal operating hours and not be able to drop off the stuff.

The West Ox transfer facility is a total disaster, there were only 2 dumpsters open out of about 15. Traffic was backed up and at least a45 minute wait. The redesign of the facility needs to be redesigned by someone that knows what they are doing.

I like the way Fairfax Transfer Station has setup the different areas of services. It helps to know where to take each item for trash or recycle!

I borrowed my old boss work van to dunp my mobile home renovation room that was damaged by heating, and the do still make me to go and get weight and they charge me more than usually.

This has been a great place for years to not only recycle the usual plastics and glass, but also cooking or motor oil and batteries. The folks that work there are also quite helpful

Worst place to dump trash have us waiting 30 mins in line. They are just staying there talking.

I waited on the line, the bored guy in the booth told me I should throw out my two full laser toner cartridges in my own trash, and then for my old small printer he said "drive around" the line. I drove around twice and had no idea where to go. I left accomplishing nothing. They need better signage and a lot more of it.

Supervisor so-called Mary whatever her last name is has been left messages for two or three days for nine days my yard waste is sitting in front of my house I’ve had flooding were the barrels would be emptying into the creek. So called Mary manager was too busy to contact me in the last two or three days this is disgraceful for the county they don’t care. She is so-called too busy to call people back. Shame on the county and shame on Mary the manager and waste solid management I give her an F

It's a great service, and the hours are good. It needs to be more clear that certain items (electronics) hours are more limited. Also, i'd give this 5 stars except the signage needs to improve. Having bigger, more clear signs for each station and what you need/don't need to wait in line for. I waited for the scales, but it turned out I didn't need to. But still, staff was helpful and this is an important, if unglamorous, service to have.

Confusing. Signage is weak. If you are not familiar with the layout, then the first few times going there, can be very puzzling. Example: just dropping off some old magazines ? Don't get in any line. Instead, veer left around the long line of cars and there will be dumpsters that You can drive around to the other side. Too much to type here, but they should go get a few volunteers who have never been there before, and have them show up with different items to dispose of and they'll see what I mean.

This place is ridiculous . The line for the scale is way long. They need to have both sides of the scale working. It took more time to get through and pay than it did to unload our truck by hand

Horrible service for the county. Can't believe they charge to have trash dropped off. Prices are always different and no there to help with issues. The scales are broken when you get there. Spent 2 hours there today and lost a contract and was still charged double. Ill be in the office tomorrow to hopefully speak with someone
