I went there looking for some a pipe (8 foot long) to put up a rain gauge. Mario (I think that was his name - the guy that recycles Freon from old AC units) went above and beyond to find me that piece of pipe. He cut it to length and it now holds my CoCoRahs rain gauge.
I'm working on my Texas Master Naturalist Certification and one of my objectives is sustainability. I could have gone to Lowes and bought a NEW 8 foot galvanized fence post for $33. I paid about $5 for this one.
Great service, very friendly and helpful staff. Walked me through the process of how to sell aluminum for the first time and was in and out within 10 minutes.
I knew of Green Guy Recycling from meeting the founder Kyle Hahn. Kyle sold the business to Jeremy. Since Jeremy has owned it, he has taken the company even higher in quality, services offered, and Customer Service. All of my experiences have been extremely positive and I was honestly shocked on how much money they paid me, for what I thought was a small load of junk.
Thanks Green Guy!! I will never go anywhere else, and am actively looking for any more “ Junk” laying around on my property. These guys may finance my retirement!

I went to this place one time to scrap my old catalytic converters and provided my ID as required by law, somehow the company decided it was ok to use my personal information to advertise directly to my door. This is a disgusting misuse of private information and leads me to believe no one who visits this place is safe. Is this place is selling our info and that’s why we all get spam/ scam calls. IDK but definitely shady in my opinion.
I've done my share of metal recycling, trying different businesses around the Austin area and I have to say Green Guy is the most friendly, helpful and organized of all of those that I have tried. From the time I arrived to the time I checked out I met the most helpful and courteous employees even thought it was 100+ degrees out. It reminded me of what customer service supposed to look like.
It was simple and easy the only thing I didn't like is they charge you for having the sale unit still in the refrigerator when they take it out and get money off of it but charges you $5 for having it in there still to me that's like scamming me I will not be going back over here I'll go back to Superior metal
Green Guy Recycling is an impressive operation but the the owner and staff are incredible. Hard working and kind people. The owner also helps a lot with River Clean ups and Shore Clean ups on Canyon Lake. We are so thankful to have them in our community.
Rely nice people, I drop empty trailer and pick up the loaded one in like about 1 hour.
It's been a real pleasure go there enjoy this place.

I have been to Green Guys in San Marcos twice in the past few weeks and both times, the staff went out of their way to be helpful! The first time, I needed some cardboard boxes for the set of our opera production at Texas State. As I drove up, one of the staff there could tell I had no idea where to start and walked up to me to ask if I needed help. He didn't just tell me where to go and leave it at that--he walked me all the way through (their very interesting facility) to where he thought the best boxes would be for our needs. He was so nice that I decided to go back yesterday and see if I could get rid of the batteries, whipped cream cans and various bits of scrap metal I have been collecting over the years (I just couldn't make myself throw a nail clipper that had fallen apart into the trash!) This time too--a gentleman could tell I wasn't sure which bin to drop my stuff in--and walked right up to me. He explained that rechargeable and lithium batteries are bad news and have to be handled differently--literally taking the opportunity to teach this old gal something new (to me) about recycling. These folks could not be nicer--kudos to this team and to this company. I will take everything I can over there to do my part!

I have used 3 different waste removal companies and the reason I switched to Green Guy was due to my experience with untimely pick ups and not being able to get in touch with said companies team members. After calling Green Guy they were responsive, friendly, clear with expectations and procedures and delivered a dumpster within 24 hours. They also were able to pick up in the same timely fashion time and time again. I enjoy Green Guys customer service and business model so much I used them for my personal home build in addition to my company use. I would recommend this company over any other competitor any day.
I was told the refrigerator I brought was too smelly to be recycled. I’m a patient at schieb center here in San Marcos and I’m not really a people person. To make a long story short I was banded for the argument I got into over the refrigerator being too smelly. Considering the business, I mean who is really the one who stinks. I think green guys gotten a little too greedy and comfortable no need green guy I won’t be returning in case anybody needs to Know Road Runner recycling is right down The road and it is a son and father own business Willis and his son are good people they’re not as fancy as green guy but they recycle all the same at honest prices. If you want to get a good price for catalytic converters head to Austin, go to somewhere like All American Recycling where they will indeed give you a fair price for your cats. They offered me close to 60 bucks a catalytic converter at Green Guy Recycling. So I took the drive to All American recycling in Austin and they gave me 250 a piece for the exact same catalytic converters. Doesn't really make sense
Employees had great team work in getting folks to correct spots for what was brought in. Office staff friendly too. They got a new system so be patient & understanding that things aren't as they were. I'm sure it's for everyone's best interest company & customers. Great job everyone! Lots can be recycled for money & to help environment. Very glad to have them nearby.
Just as quick and easy as I researched! They ARE open 24/7 for regular household recycling (not trash) like tin/aluminum cans, car fluids and batteries, cardboard boxes, paper glass and plastic bottles. 24/7! The place is lit up like a lil football field at night.
For the most part, the things you want to sell will have to wait until 8-5 mon-fri and 8-12pm Sat.

The staff at Green Guy are always helpful, friendly and very professional. I have been to other recycling centers however I don't believe ever having the same excellent experience I do at Green Guy. Their center is always clean and well organized. I highly recommend Green Guy to anyone. From my observation Green Guy is truly concerned for our environment and it shows.
This place is fantastic. There are spots for the common items (glass, cardboard, plastic, aluminum, etc...) That you can just drive up to and unload yourself. The metal and unique items go further in the back and there is generally someone there to help guide you. Great place!
Jeremy, Maria and the team did a great job of responding to me as a NEW customer with Same day service. Then I called again, and they came out again to me in San Marcos quickly. Excellent hauler and thank you so much to your team.
This is a very nice place to unload some old cardboard and largers recyclables you may have. They don't accept Styrofoam, so keep that in mind! The people are always very nice and helpful if you have questions. The place is kept nice and clean for what it is.
Great place to recycle everything! We were able to recycle tons of old tires cleaned up by volunteers from Canyon Lake shoreline. Great price for the hundreds of tires we brought. They take everything a normal house hold has in it normally. They even have a sale area where you can buy items that others chose to get rid of and recycle. Call ahead to see what they may sell before you show up. Items are constantly being sold and new brought in to be sold.
I gave been here a few times and I will NEVER deal with them again!!. They wouldn't pay me the correct amount of money 4 what I took 2 sell,I told them I wanted my scrap back and they had already thrown it in a large bin and said they couldn't give it back because they couldn't b sure how much I had even though they had just weighted it. I had 2 take what they offered or get nothing, everyone I had 2 deal with there was also some of the rudest people I've ever had 2 deal with in my life. STAY AWAY FROM HERE!!!!!

I have been bringing my scrap metal here for years. They are always professional and friendly. I have been to a few other scrap yards and always the same thing(dirty, disorganized, rude employees, etc...).
This is the place to bring your scrap metal!
Everyone there was friendly except for Jim. He tried to short change me by telling me to unload my stainless steel and brass into the steel. He also tried to not pay me for the copper and aluminum by not giving me the ticket for payout. It took then three times to get a correct weight on the scrap metal I sold them and ate up a half hour of my time.
