They did an $1,100.00 break job on a 17 year old beater station wagon with 124,000 miles with out first informing me of the price. When I picked it up they then informed me that the car would not pass inspection because the state is going back to including body work as part of the state inspection. Well, an estimate on the body work now needed was $1,500.00!! So, to pass inspection I will have had to spend $2,600.00 on a now 18 YO beater car which, had I know about the body work thing before deciding to go ahead with the break work, i most likely would have junked the beast. I returned to discuss this with them. The mechanic came out to the parking lot and apologized for the oversight, but it was too late by then.
Bought a car they did a bunch of work on $6000 worth just for it to not be fixed properly then they won’t cover the work they did besides that just save your time & bring it to someone who can fix it right the first time not here they’ll charge you for “diagnostics” but won’t point out simple vacuum leaks that are visible & can easily be heard. There’s better shops out there don’t get hassled with this one.

My wife trusted you with her cars for almost two decades. But, Shane refused to call us back regarding issues we had with her car. We called twice about it and it was never returned. It has absolutely nothing to do with owing a bill or anything like that. We have no faith in this business.
My brother recommended Exeter Automotive when I moved to this area. They provide great customer service, reasonably priced, and honest about what you really need fixed on your car. They don’t pressure you to have work done that you don’t need. I will never go anywhere else.
Tracked my mileage when I dropped my car off in their parking lot for ABS light. They claim they drove it around for hours and couldn’t find anything wrong with it. Stuck me with a huge labor fee. Mileage was the same when I picked my car up. Rude staff as well.
We really appreciate this place. After taking our van to the Honda autobody shop 3 times for transmission concerns, they told us nothing was wrong. We thought we were crazy. We decided to take it here for inspection (did not mention the concerns) and they immediately called us back and asked if we were having transmission issues because they had found the problem right away...burnt transmission fluid. We never had an issue again.
Since then they have been our go-to. They have always been quick and affordable.
Been going here for auto service with both my truck and my wifes suv for about 5 years now for inspection and emissions and for repairs when things break. Never had a bad experience. They let you know what's going on while the vehicle is being repaired. Always nice. I've never once felt like I was being ripped off. I highly recommend
Walked in today to get my wife's tire plugged, "Sorry, we're booked for the rest of this week and all of next week" Glad I was turned away, I'll never consider going there again for a simple repair!
BEWARE PRICE GOUGERS...They said that my vehicle needed a transmission and driveshaft. First price given was 3000 then when I was about to give them half to start work they go oh we messed up its going to cost 6700 now it's a different type of transmission so I didn't get car fixed there took it to horizon auto got it fixed for 3000 and turns out driveshaft was fine. Talk about gouging
Worst customer service EVER. Needed inspection stickers put back on after windshield replacement, took a week and half to book first appt., Then I had to reschedule due to contracting covid and they made me wait ANOTHER 2 weeks for the next appt. You get 5 days to put your stickers back on legally and they didn't care one bit about trying to accommodate the time frame. I called another shop and they put them back on same day. Never going back there.
This place rips woman off. I went in for an inspection. When being inspected they found my top radiator hose was swollen and needed replacement. They said $150.00. I replaced the hose myself along time ago. I took a look at it and told them no way 150. I'll do it myself. I went to auto zone pd 9 bucks and it took 5 minutes to put in. They also said they needed my car there most of the day. I was annoyed for sure.
Took my car here for an inspection. Staff is friendly and they were pretty quick too! Only 4 stars because they quoted $900 for repairs that I could have had done elsewhere for $600, but ultimately did at home for less than $300. However, inspection/emissions pricing was very reasonable.
Exeter Automotive is a great place to get your car fixed. I had my car towed in and drove it home the next day? The service technician explained every thing my car needed and what they did for me. Very courteous and professional.
Honest, reliable repair shop! We have been taking our vehicles there for years! They get our services needed done in a timely matter and I wouldn't trust taking our vehicles anywhere else!

My driver's side window fell down and never came back up. I called other places, none would help that same day. They were too busy, couldn't fit me in etc. I called Exeter Auto, dropped the car off, diagnosed it, got parts and fixed all the same day. Yet they were very busy... they fit me in. So awesome. I went here with power steering issues. They quoted me $550 to change out a power steering line with a second line that may also need replacing. This seemed extremely high so I asked them to not do the work. When I went to pick up the car they charged me $61 for diagnosing the issue. The guy who took my money was extremely rude like he was personally offended that I thought their price was outrageous. I took my vehicle to another mechanic who fixed the problem for $169. Not sure why they were trying to gouge me but BECAREFUL with these crooks.
Poor customer service & communication sucks. After being a loyal customer since the beginning, will no longer be using this shop. And shame on you for thinking this is a big joke when we tried to address the issues (on more than one occasion). We are a 5 vehicle household and so happy to make a change.
I have been looking for a reliable shop for my cars for a couple of years. Gave Exeter Automotive a try simply because they are so close to my home that I just moved into. Was impressed from the moment I made the appointment all the way to the end. The facility is neat and clean. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Most importantly, they are fair, honest, and have the customer's best interest in mind. This is the only place I will take my vehicles from now on.
Quick, reliable service
I went here on the recommendation from the owner of a local auto parts store. I'd had the car worked on elsewhere (with questionable, very expensive results) and was contemplating doing some of my own work. I went to Exeter and they took care of me! On time, on budget. They're all friendly and helpful. Their waiting area is small but clean and well kept. I could likely get an oil change/tire rotation for a little cheaper at a chain store, but I like to support local business and these guys are great!

We have 4 vehicles and I have had service performed on all of them. They are fair, prompt, polite and do top shelf work while keeping our budget in mind. Tires were right in line with the "super discount" tire shops and the service was better.
Not a single complaint. I recommend them very highly for anything you need.
Dave runs an excellent garage with the best customer service in Berks county. Prices are more than fair. The only place I take my car to when I don't do the work myself.
Exeter Automotive inspected and serviced our cars, a Chrysler 300M and a Mercury Marquis. They are competent and thorough. They make and keep appointments. The shop is very clean and well equipped. I needed some small replacement parts for the Chrysler (now 14 years old) which they located and installed. I recommend them.
Trust, confidence and friendly customer service is why I continue to take my cars to Exeter Automotive even after moving 10 miles away last year. There are dozens of car repair businesses closer, but with EA l am confident that my car will be safe and reliable when I turn the key. I also trust that the price will be fair for the work done, with no padding. Finally, Ross & Dave accommodate my travel by servicing my car promptly at the appointment time, keeping my wait time to only what is necessary. That's good customer service.
