I had went to two other Auto parts store before coming to store#04970 and AutoZone on grace st. Rocky Mount is sorry the man with the dreads came to help with my battery I'm asking him can he replace it he didn't even try to replace it but anyway Kelsey the store manager at advanced auto told me come see him and he took great care of me a long with trying to help others at the time , and he didn't care wat it took to get my battery out he did it and replaced it Thank You Kelsey

I needed to return a part that I had bought and I'm carrying this 75 lb box into the store on my shoulder. I ask the first guy where do I do returns. He says go talk to the white guy at that counter over there. He doesn't offer to help me with the box, he doesn't get me a cart to put it on. He just says see the white guy and walks off. So I go over to the white guy and tell him I need to return this class IV hitch assembly. He immediately gets me a cart and helps me get it off my shoulder. We do the return and then I figure my low beam is out on my Dodge truck, so I might as well replace it before I get a ticket as I was getting ready to head to Maryland on a trip that night. So I ask "the white guy" who just happens to be the GM for the store for a low beam headlight for a 2017 Dodge 1500. Well he has the young guy standing with him look it up on the computer and then he goes over gets one off the shelf, hands it to me and I couldn't be happier. I chatted with the young guy about sharpening as he sharpens knives professionally as well. I pay for the part get in my truck and head home. Well, I get home and to install a headlight bulb into a 2017 Dodge truck is not an easy thing. But after an hour or so, I get the light assembly loose and I open up the package and with rubber gloves I remove the bulb and try to insert it. It won't fit. The pins are too close together. So I Google it and find they sold me a high beam light for $50, the wrong light. Well now it's after the sun went down. So instead of heading all the way to Rocky Mount we go to Wilson, because it was a half hour till they closed and I didn't think we could make it before closing. There's 2 young men in there and they tell me it's Advanced Auto policy not to exchange or replace packages that are open. I told them that their sister store sold me the wrong part. They wouldn't budge on policy and in fact got pissy with me telling me I was an idiot for not checking serial numbers before I opened the package. They actually said "only an idiot would open a package without checking serial numbers". So I went out to my truck and called the Rocky Mount store. I explained everything to the guy who was the sharpener and he said the same thing about the policy. He did remember me, but couldn't do anything to help. I reminded him that he was the one that looked up the part and gave the number to the GM. You gave me the wrong part, I just want what I paid for. He also told me about checking the serial number, but didn't call me an idiot. No one told me in the store to check a serial number, I was right there, gave them the information, they looked it up, they gave me the headlight. What a fiasco. I still needed a light for my trip so I go over to Auto Zone in Wilson. Explain my problem and they gave me the correct bulb. He also told me it's the store owners policy to replace parts even if they've been opened. I've been an Advanced Auto customer for 20 years or more. I wasted hours of my time and over 50 bucks on a part that I can't use, because of inept employees and bad policy. Well no more, it's Auto Zone for me from now on. The guy there was not disrespectful of the color of my skin or anyone else's skin color and he didn't call me an idiot either!

There are angels among us. I was parked at a business across the street, my daughter had the key turned in the car so she could charge her phone and the battery went dead. I came into the store for help. Demoine went out of his way to help me despite me not being a customer. Thank you so much for caring about our safety. You are truly appreciated!!

I shop at Sunset store. Kelsey is the gentleman that helped me on a couple of my visits there. Windshield wipers, battery, on 2 cars I own. He is so knowledgeable, professional, and I will be only shopping this store. I am 100% satisfied and with anything I need in the future

Asked guy for a replacement radiator cap and he sold me a thermostat.... Can not make this up....lol. And lied about it when I got there. I guess you can work here if you know what a car looks like.

Bought a tool to help remove the rear wiper arm on my Hyundai Elantra touring. Was having trouble getting the tool under the arm and the nice man who had waited on me came outside and took the wiper arm off for me. I highly recommend this store and it's KIND and Wonderful employees.

Automotive stores should carry automotive specific items. In all sizes. EDIT: Thank you for responding on behave of 4970. I know that there is no say ideally in what comes in on the trucks.

Been to this store exclusively for the last 2 years for 5 different battery purchases and washer fluid as well as cleaning supplies. Have bought floor mats and windshield wiper blades and wipe arm. Visited this evening at 6:47 pm to find a completely different attitude Than I have ever experienced previously. In the past, I pulled up with my wife and her 2015 Honda Odyssey van after jumping it and needed a new battery. It was the closest store to where the battery died. It turned out to be a good choice. The store manager greeted me and found what was needed and proceeded to install it right at the front door. It was so very much appreciated. The time was 8:30 pm. Made this my place to buy anything auto related after this experience. Bought 4 more batteries since that time and numerous other items. Tonight, 6:47 pm, I walked in the store and asked for a battery for my 2015 Ford Explorer. The young man behind the counter immediately said "yes sir" and began looking up what was needed on his computer. Then a young lady ( Michaela ) steps up and states " We're not installing it... " I asked why not, and was told they were not required to install it after dark. However, it was not dark and I was parked at the front door. I said to her that it was not dark and there were lights in the parking lot and I was at the front door. Didn't matter, she absolutely refused to even consider it. The young man never said a word. It was a very distasteful experience and will result in me never spending another dime there. Also, in the parking space next to where I was parked, was an employee leaning over with there head and shoulders inside the car on the passenger side talking with the driver.... He did not seem to be concerned about being outside. Sad that some part time hourly employee with an attitude can cost a business a sale in our current economic environment. Especially when I will not buy anything else from this store. Horrible experience and really beligerent employee. See the response to this review below and recognize by far it is an auto generated response. Otherwise, why would it thank me for shopping with them immediately after I said I would not buy anything else from them... Unbelievable. I also called this store to inquire about the manager's last name... Not surprising that the employee that answered phone did not know the store manager's last name.... Wow what an inept place when the manager is NOT there.... Just FYI... Spent my money with O'REILLY Auto Parts one address away from this location. $172 for a battery and they were happy to install the battery.

From the window it looks like things are great inside HOWEVER although they are supposed to open at 7:30 am, I am still waiting outside at 8:01 am because it is still not open. I should have never ordered the parts online this is going to throw my whole day off. Will never order from here again....update it’s now 8:48 am and someone finally just opened the door. Smh

Danny is an asset to Advance Auto and should be promoted. His customer service skills and commitment to the customer is a true reflection of the company's ethos. He assisted me with installation of a battery in my daughter's car via a phone call from New Jersey which was outstanding. She was stranded after holiday break trying to make it back home and scared to turn her car off after getting a jump. New battery installed in 10 mins and she was on the road. I'm very impressed and appreciative as he put my worry as her mother to rest. Thanks a million! Heart.

I stopped in last night ( 12-19-18 ) because I needed a battery. I got there @ 8:02, not knowing they close at 8. They would not let me in and sell me a battery. I have gotten my last 6 batteries from this store on Sunset over the past years. Not to mention numerous other purchases over the years. So much for customer service. Sorry, you just lost a customer. I came here during the day for some help with diagnostics. The employees there were patient, understanding and very knowledgeable. I could not be more pleased with the level of help as well as with the convenience of the location.

I called three other parts stores looking for a certain wiper blade and none of them had it. I called advance and they had it on their shelf I walked into the store and they had it in my hands within 5 minutes and I was out of there. I'd definitely go back to them before anybody else.

My wife was in Rocky Mount on business from Raleigh when a headlight went out in her car. I suggested she stop at Advance and they would help her put it in while she was there. The Advance we use in Raleigh has never hesitated to help with small items like that. I've had similar experiences in Charlotte as well so I've been loyal to Advance in return. They started to take the assembly apart but got frustrated with the process and told my wife they were not paid enough to do this. They handed her back the part and refused to even put it back together. My wife had to drive home with one headlight all the way back to Raleigh and an extra part sitting next to her in the front seat. Don't worry fellas, I took care of it. How many Advance Auto Part employees at this store does it take to screw in a light bulb? None, because they are not paid enough apparently.
