Two different times I've gone to this place to try to get my transmission worked on because I've heard great things about them but neither time would they return a phone call or give me a quote for my truck. So I took my business elsewhere. Still waiting for a call back from 5 years ago for my last truck and from 5 days ago for my current truck. I ended up going next door to them to Meineke and they took care of my needs great price great service. So if they don't call you back or decide that they need to do research go to someone else.

I took my car here for a 2nd opinion after the Subaru dealer gave me a long list of service my car needed. Sharp Transmissions took care of what was needed and confirmed the car is in good order. I’m no longer going to Subaru and will bring my 2015 Forester (and any future cars) only to Sharp Transmissions. It was a great experience and I know that Milt and his team are trustworthy.

Great service. I've sent family members and friends to their shop over the past 30 years. This time was my turn. My wife's van needed transmission service. They were honest and very helpful. The work was done, and they road tested. So far, so good. Thanks to Milt and his crew.

Been seeing Milt and his crew for years now. I simply won't go anywhere else. Honest, competent, kind and thorough. They're always upfront about any issues and will be the first ones to suggest which minor repairs have time to be addressed with safety being the first concern. If you have 60% life in your break-pads, they'll be the first ones to show you and advise when you should change them out. In the 6 or 7 years I've been going to see them, each estimate I've been given has been 100% right on with no surprises. Their work is impeccable. End of story. Thank you.

Our car broke down in Poughkeepsie and because of a transmission issue. We had the car towed to Sharp because it was local to us. Milt was thorough and clear on problems and the cost for parts and labor. Forgetting the breakdown, the repair at Sharp was an excellent experience. I am definitely coming back to maintain my car. Sharp Transmission has done an excellent job on my crv and external. Prompt, courteous service and the bill is always lower than the estimate! I received a phone call if something extra was needed, Adding a protective additive fluid... highly recommend this place.

These guys are honest and truthful. I definitely recommend them. I thought my jeep transmission was leaking and requested the pan gasket to be replaced. The crew informed me that it was not transmission fluid but oil leaking near the bell housing (classic Oil filter adapter assembly area ). Fast service, got me in and out right away.

The way that I was treated at Sharp was what sets them apart from other shops I have been to. I and my vehicle were handled respectfully and I appreciated that staff listened to my concerns and worked with me to solve my problem instead of trying to push me to get tons of unnecessary repairs done. Milt and Team were super to a stranger/refugee come to town with an old car and broken a/c during some of the hottest days just post-plandemic opening. I was so grateful to be seen right away even though they are super busy, receive fast and kind, patient service, reasonable prices for the assessment of the problem, honest assistance in purchasing a cheap returnable part through e-bay to fix the problem, and be able to return at no further installation cost for the part, once it arrived. Very professional. Thank you so so much! Highly recommend. This is my new mechanic as I become a permanent resident. Thank you again!

These guys took my car in same day and did an amazing job at a competitive price. They texted me before-and-after photos of all of the parts they changed (i got a new clutch). It made me feel confident seeing photo evidence of my car parts going from hurtin' to brand new. highly recommended!

I know of eight different rebuilds done by Milt and his team and NONE have ever had a problem again. You could find someone to do it for less money but never better. I am an ASE Master Mechanic and recommend them highly!

I have had four or five cars fixed by Milt and his crew over the past 30 years. Each and every time, I have been absolutely satisfied with the quality of the repairs, the cost of the repairs, and the high level of communication to keep me in the decision process. They don't come any better than these guys. When I have a problem that needs an expert, they are the place that I think of first.

Very happy with the service I received here! Gentleman I spoke with was very pleasant and very knowledgeable. He called me as soon as the problem was diagnosed, thoroughly explained it to me and then had it fixed 3 hours faster than he originally quoted! If the need ever arises I will return here for service!

Car towed there on a Sunday and I was certain the transmission was gone on the 89 Volvo....it wouldn't move an inch, just revved as if in neutral in every gear. Seems all it needed was a good cleaning of the transmission filter. Drove it home Monday and it shifted like it should. More than impressed with the honesty of the mechanics at Sharp in Kingston! Diagnosed and repaired without going to the most expensive repair first. Thank you so much for having my car done in less than a day, without even expecting it there, and charging me a fair and decent price to clean the tranny filter. A local Swedish car mechanic had quoted me $6k to replace the transmission. Quoted less than $2k by Sharp for the same job when and if it comes to needing one. This is where I'll be taking my car from now on!

Bill and Milt are both great. They communicate clearly what is going on, what they need to do, how long it will take and what it will cost. I've brought my vehicle to them 3 times for various issues and have been very pleased every time. They go above and beyond to be helpful in any way they can. I highly recommend Sharp Transmission.

My fiance and I only moved to the Kingston area one year ago. I saw good reviews for Sharp on Yelp & gave it a go. Milt & his team are fantastic. I thought I would miss my mechanic back home, but Milt has surpassed them. Everyone is kind & friendly. The prices are fair & they do great work. We are moving again due to a job change & are most bummed to lose this place. I told Milt today that we named our car Milt in his honor. That got a good laugh :) But in all seriousness, you can't go wrong here. Why go to a corporate chain, when there are still trustworthy independently owned shops like this?

I wish I could give more than 5 stars to Sharp Transmissions. A friend and I were driving to NYC from VT for a weekend trip and I had car troubles on the drive down on Friday evening. Sharp was super helpful Friday evening and then they fixed my car for me first thing Saturday morning. They really too the stress away of a very stressful car situation. My drive back to Vermont was so smooth after their repair! Thanks! If I lived closer they would certainly have all of my car repair business.

Excellent shop. I first took my Jeep Grand Cherokee a couple years ago due to a faulty wheel bearing and a few other issues. Being fairly new to the area I didn't have a trusted mechanic yet, so I just went to a big name tire shop at first. The sound of a faulty wheel bearing is not too hard to recognize and I told this big name store this was the problem. They said your wheel bearings are good but instead they try to sell me new brakes and rotors. So, I took my Jeep and left. After looking at the good reviews here I decided to give Sharp a try. The owner, Milt, easily diagnosed the issue as a faulty wheel bearing and diagnosed other issues I asked about. What I think is so great about dealing with Milt is he takes the time to go over the exact problems and what could cause them. This is not a type of place where they will try to upsell you or tell you to fix things that need not be. They will fix what you ask and do it right. Milt is an expert in his craft and his personality conveys that he cares about his customers. It is very rare to go into a random mechanic shop without being recommended or knowing someone, and be treated like an old friend. Thanks Milt

I haven't had any work done here, but they were extremely helpful when I was trying to find someone to checkout a used car that I wanted to buy in the area. They even offered to go pick it up to check it out before I drove in from out of town. The dealership wouldn't let us do it, so they didn't end up doing anything, but their helpfulness and advice was excellent!

My car broke down on the thruway, four hours from my home. The tow truck driver recommended this company as the place to drop it at. Dealing with an unfamiliar repair shop is always stressful, but I could not be more happy with this place. Sharp put in a used transmission for me, and I have not had a single problem since. The car runs like new here six months later, and Sharp even put in a muffler I needed within the same price. I am so pleased to have been recommended here as a stranger, and would highly recommend Sharp Transmissions to anyone. I have been a customer of sharp transmissions for the past ten years. They have worked on all of my cars. The work has been up to exceptional standards. I have them complete all my services from oil changes to major service. I have always been totally satisfied. The shop is manned with techs who have years of experience that care about my car. They are professionals. Like the old adage "you get what you pay for".

A few years ago I has Sharp fix my transmission on a Toyota mini van. My regular mechanic said he thought it was shot but said to take it to Milt. It was less expensive than I expected and that van ran for many years after that. I just sent a friend to Milt the other day and his car runs better than it did when it was new. It made me happy to have my friend so pleased and to know I can recommend Sharp with confidence.

Incredible is all I have to say. My truck started slipping and immediately I brought the truck to Milt. He diagnosed the problem which was a known defect that the manufacturer knows about but was not covering. I had an extended warranty that the company was not going to cover either. Milt went above and beyond to work with the adjuster to prove this was a warranty issue. I got my truck back a few days later with the transmission rebuilt by Milt and his team and it runs perfectly. This is the second vehicle that I had work done at Sharp and if I ever need work on any of my other vehicles, I will definitely be getting them over to Milt's place. One more thing. It nice to walk into a place where they talk to you and explain things rather than just take your keys and say we'll call you when we know whats wrong. Thanks again Milt. Thanks Milt!!! For the great service and honesty that's hard to find in this world today.... On 12/8/08 I broke down on the NYST south. I asked the tow truck driver to take me to the most reputable transmission place he knew, and that he did!!!! When I walked into the shop, I first asked if I could use the bathroom, when I walked into the bathroom I was surprised to see how clean it was for a repair shop, too me the first good indicator.. After peaking in the shop and noticing a clean organized work environment I felt even better.... After leaving the vehicle and having them diagnose the problem they gave me two options, factory rebuilt or rebuild the existing.. I did wind up going with the factory rebuild with a great warranty and to this day almost four years later and no problems, I would highly recommend Milt and his crew!!! Also to this day Milt will answer any questions in regards to the vehicle I had repaired almost 4 years ago without any hesitation.... But let me remind you the questions I ask are regular service questions, not problems I'm having, because I have had no problems what so ever!!! THANKS again Sharp Transmissions Tom T
