What clients say about Wichita Material Recovery LLC in Wichita (KS)
We’ve been hauling to WMR for several years, but after we waited in line for close to 45 minutes and watched the form lift drivers help several trucks with trailers unload their large, bulky items we finally got backed up to a dumpster with an hour and a half before closing time and got told they couldn’t help us unload. Extremely disappointed in this business and their customer service or the lack there of!
Great place to recycle metal items, everyone there is always very friendly, and they have the best prices.
You don't have to drive across a junkyard full of stuff to poke your tires to get to where they want you to go to drop off your items.
I drive extra miles just to go here.
I sold my radiator at WMR this morning and it was quick and painless. The customer service was A1, and I got a fair price for my material. All of the staff was very knowledgeable and kind. I Will definitely be going back for my recycling needs! 😊
Great customer service. I had over a ton of metal and was able get right in to unload. I unloaded the smaller stuff myself, but there is always an employee with a forklift to unload the heavy stuff. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff.
Very rude man hung up on me twice. I was simply trying to get a price per pound on scrap metal in particular structural pipe. He asked what diameter and I have various sizes I could put in one load. He then said you don’t communicate very well, I don’t want to buy anything from you and then hung up. I called back and he told me they only buy a specific pipe. I asked what do you buy and he hung up again. I would never do business with this company and this guy needs some serious customer service training. Would recommend going anywhere but here. Very rude
Great customer service. Me and my brother got off work late and showed with a trailer full and a truck bed full 10 minutes before they closed. They were understanding of us just getting off work and got us in and out of there in 30 minutes.
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! 0 stars would be what is deserved! ****Public Service Announcement**** If you need to use this business anytime around their closing hour be aware that they will not care if you wait in line for almost an hour, or if you are the last one left in line, they will not take an extra minute to help you. They really closed the gate in our faces and told us to get beat in a very unprofessional way. My husband, father in-law and I just spent almost an hour in line waiting for our turn at WMR, and because they close at 2pm they closed right in their faces! We were the last truck waiting and it would not have taken more than 5 minutes to help us. Super disappointed to have this in the back of the truck until monday. :(
Friendly staff, decent prices updated daily on their website, and two really important features:
(1) Their facility is all paved, and kept reasonably swept. So it doesn't matter how much rain comes down, you won't get stuck in their drop off area.
And, no metal ruining your tires.
(2) They pay cash on the spot. No need to run to the bank afterwards.
Sat in a line for close to 1 hour to be told I would not be able to render their services. UPDATE: Went again this Saturday. Except I showed up before noon this time. Two people in line. Made it to the scale. The guy running the far north scale was kind and quickly got me weighed up and ticket in hand in 5min. 35lbs of yellow brass got me $77. If you want to do business with these guys on Saturday. The earlier the better.
I like this place the best driveway clean not a mud hole like around the corner @ XYZ, and not crooks like Halls metals. It's fast, fair, feels like family. Being new to the area, I'm glad to have found my Crew, with my horrible bad back it so so nice to have their help, these people are Top SHELF
I've been taking heat exchangers off of swimming pool heaters to wmr for years at least 20 of Summer. And the guy up front try to tell me that it was a radiator and it went back and instead of grabbing the actual heat exchanger he grabbed some metal that he said was just like it and told me it was made out of brass and it tried to argue with me about it so obviously they needed that money more than me I don't know what's going on with w m r but I know a lot of people have told me to stop going there because they're ripping people off and I hated to believe it but it's 100% true there is no reason not to bring the metal that I brought up there up front to show me and then for the simple fact he tried to tell me it was brass and not copper. That little bit of change it won't break them but it will cost the company a lot of money a good chunk of change
They are pretty cool for first timers. .there is a girl with long hair and a lot of stickers on her hard hat she was very patient and told me what to do and where to go with different materials, the other gentleman were very cool as well. All in all decent place.
They super nice here and they do you real fair. You can't ask for any nicer people than the guys that work here!! Just go there and you will see how nice they are. And you will leave with cash you needed!!
Went there and got there before closing. As we pulled up we went to the office to find nobody at the desk.
Confused we go to where people are loading stuff up. Wait 10min for them to say " oops sorry got like 1min left until closing, we can take one type of metal from ya to make it quick"
We show them our copper in a bucket we had, and immediately he pointed out a filter that had copper attached to it and said that it was steel and implied that he could not take it. If you're coming from out of town and have stuff to do, don't come here. Most likely to get turned away, easier to save gas especially if your from out of Wichita.
Other than that the only reason I'm putting 2 stars is because they were AT LEAST nice during the whole conversation we had when they talked to us.
Great people, always a pleasure to deal with them. The lot is always clean when I've been there which saves on tire punctures. They have fair pricing for recycling steel, aluminum and some other more specific items.
Went there for the first time today. I was quite impressed with their operation. They keep the area clean. Don't have to worry about mud or slicing your tires open. Both gentleman, and the office guy , were very courteous. There are screens all over so nothing is hidden from you. They post their prices daily on their website! They gained a new customer today!
I bring a couple loads of metal a year as I finish projects and clean the garage, I'm not a full time scrap guy. They're as helpful as they need to be, which is to say they don't unload for you, but will help a little if you need it. It's a pretty efficient operation and that means you're in and out quickly. There are times that are more popular, like Saturday morning there will be a line.
Great company and great owner! Been coming here for years and only had 1 hiccup with getting a check cashed for scrap due to their new system. The owner is a stand up guy and made the issue right, right away. 5 stars and 2 thumbs up!
I have been to WMR on several occasions after cleaning out my garage or shed. I like being able to go somewhere to recycle metal without worrying about getting something stuck in my tires. Clean place for a scrap yard and easy off loading. They will assist if they see you need help. Very friendly staff. I've been cleaning again and am going tomorrow with a small load.
Taking scrap to them several times well cleaning up the farm friendly Fair people. There is often a line it's best not to cut it because the dock workers are not afraid to tell you to go to the back of the line. Some of them have helped me learn how to sort out some of my metals to get better prices.but they do prefer that you have everything sorted and ready to go when you pull up because of how busy they are
Today was my first trip to a recycling place. The employees were friendly and helped unload the truck. I figure I won both ways because had I taken that to the dump the dump fee would have been very close to what they paid me. Next time I need to get rid of metal I know where to go right away.
Why suddenly two seperate prices for metal? I have made two trips there in the last week and was treated well both times. I was considering another trip today but decided against it when I saw the two different rates based on whether I bring a ton or less than a ton. I only have a half ton truck so will never bring a ton all at once. The way I read your new rate difference is we want the big fish. If you only have a half ton go somewhere else and don't bother us.
My first time there to drop of some cans other scrap metals. I have to say the place is clean and while organized. The worker are nice and friendly. I had a lot questions since it was my first time there. They are very nice at answering my questions. I also got to change to talk some of the other customers and they said the like the place. I would recommend to anyone who recycles. "Keep the great work, and Keep recycling!"
We've never been to this place before so we called before we went over there to make sure what we were bringing was alright. The man on the phone told us to go ahead and bring it all. So we enter through the green door, and let the lady sitting behind the window know that we had spoke with someone on the phone and that he told us to come in. She was giving us a look like we were stupid, and then with THE biggest attitude she asked "what is it" we told her some old electronics.. then with some more attitude "well you have to go around to the back." So we said okay.. then she said "it has to be 5 lbs" .......Well we were carrying a super heavy old piece of electronic so we said "okay.." then she YELLED "I mean it has to be 5 lbs all together" Seriously? This was the rudest customer service rep I have ever seen! Sorry that this was our first time going there so we didn't know where you were supposed to go?? After that treatment it will probably be my first and last. I've been working customer service for years now and there is NO WAY I would even dare to talk to a customer the way that she did to us! We didn't even do anything to her to for her to treat us that way is what upsets me even more. The guys were real nice and helpful in the back, but by that point I was already upset by the way I was treated at the front of the building. If it were me I would not want that girl being the face of my company. Her name was Samantha by the way. I was sure to ask before I left.
