The yard is incredible! They have everything for your project. They also have friendly and helpful staff and fair prices for stuff you can't find anywhere else too!

Great place! They only sell metal shelves, though, so no kitchen cabinet supplies.

I felt incredibly unwelcome here as a queer person. Fun to look around in at all the actual weird things .

Great place for those hard to find materials. Darryl in the back metal yard is always super helpful.

Always love browsing their items and end up buying something. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Love this place. Have to fabricate many parts for what I do with my motorcycle. Always have what I need to get the job done. Picking up some more raw material to make more parts. Edit 1-3-2025 The place is way more organized. Looks cleaner and easier to find any of the wide assortment of materials this place has. It's a great place for all types of building or making things. I'm making more custom bike parts.

Have a need for materials for your DIY project. My first stop is the Yard Store. A great selection of metals, plastics, and fabrics. Need a tool to put it all together? They probably have that too. Don't see what you are looking for? Just ask one of their friendly staff. 12-17-23 Back for more. . . You'll have to go down and see the changes! They are bringing fasteners inside to the main building. 3/27/24 Score a gold star with The Yard Store. My project needed a special part. They had just what I needed. 11/27/24 Another score at the Yard Store. They had just what I needed for my door. The laminated plastic sheet was the right size and shape. They keep adding more products so plan on staying a few minutes more to check it all out. Kudos again.

This place is dangerous to the pocketbook. All sorts of neat odds and ends for your DIY projects. Advise bringing "adult" supervision... which appearantly is not me or any of my friends.

We drove 1 hour and 15 minutes to visit this store. My wife and I drank alot of water so had to go, bad. We walked back to the restrooms but the women's restroom was being cleaned. I took my wife in the mens restroom with me and locked the door since it was unoccupied. Within seconds most of the employees were beating on the door wanting to know what we were doing. Some big ugly wired dude with 2 pots of coffee in him was yelling that an employee has complained about us. What the heck? My wife needed to pee! Her restroom was being cleaned, so why not? This was the most embarrassing thing I have ever experienced. This was a specific destination and my favorite store. But no more. They didn't even apologize! I will never set foot in this place again. And I will warn others. Go to the Yard and get embarrassed and mistreated. No apology either. We are well dressed, in our 60's. There was no reason at all to humiliate customers.

This is a great place for anyone who is a maker of useful things. They sell metal and a miriad of miscellaneous things. It's an eccletic super store like you never seen before. I've shopped here for at least forty years! Give it a try!

I recently moved to the area and was recommended this place after not finding something I needed at any of the larger retailers. I finally got around to coming here, and am extremely impressed. This place is a DIYer's dream and is better than anything I'm used to. They sell new and used tools, materials, parts; you name it, they most likely have it on their 4-acre property. It's enough to send anyone with a mechanical know-how wild. I wasn't able to get much unfortunately, but I will be back soon for more.

A friend had been telling me to go see this place for years, well, today I was talking to him as I arrived an hour early for an appointment, so off I went to see "The Yard" An hour later, I hastily paid for the stuff I found in the first two aisles and rushed back to my appointment...after which I came back for another two hours and approximately $100. I wish you were closer to home! If anybody needs a piece of 12" solid round aluminium bar stock, this is your place! Or a chunk big enough to mill a head for a tractor engine from...yeah, they got that covered, too.

Always love this place. Staff is always friendly and helpful. I'm constantly finding rusted metal for my dyeing projects for 75 cents a pound. They fulfill my crazy art brains need for interesting materials.

I went in with a specific item in mind. Plexiglass. Now I may not be aware of different types that cost more than others but what they have was pricey here. I always have fun shopping here to see what items the have gathered up to sell. So solid 5 star for what they do here.

Wichita's hidden gem for the do-it-yourselfers, hobbyist, makers, and mechanically inclined types. Any project or hobby can benefit from the multitude of items. Good prices on tools and obscure manufacturing aides. Surplus oddities that I didn't even know I wanted seem to jump out at me as I walk each aisle. It's like a farmers market for metalworking tools and metal. Note to owner: (This is an honest, unsolicited review, but I'd accept a kick back because I couldn't get all the awesome items that I wanted)

I didn't even know this place existed till my hubby told me. I went there to get some expanded steel. They were awesome. Showed me what they had, and helped load it in my car, yeah them poor guys I assumed they would be able to cut it and brought the car instead of the truck. But they were super nice. I will definitely go back. Ps call to see if they can cut what your needing, as they do cut some stuff.

Always a great place to go when working on any project. Also a good place to go when looking to kill some time and see some interesting things. I always leave with more than I went in there to get. It's fun to look around and see what they have added or changed out each time. I bring my dad here every time he is in town just for fun. He loves it too. Great people that are always friendly. Never had a bad experience there. Keep up the great work.

I had heard of this store from the guys at work. Always thought it was a guy thing for their derby cars. I couldn't have been more wrong, not only is it for the guys but ladies this place is awesome. I found the perfect piece of leather for the top of my cedar chest. I also found painting supplies that I wanted but just couldn't bring myself to pay that price at other stores. I found storage stuff to get me home an craft room organized. Found stuff for my dog, my garden even got new ideas for things I want to do. The employees are very helpful. They will take the time to listen to what it is you are wanting to do and will help you get everything you need an will even give you ideas on how to get it done. It was a joy to shop in there. Thank you to everyone at the yard for all y'alls help.

The Yard is locally owned, and you can definitely tell. Friendly, helpful people who are ready to help you find what you're looking for. This is my first stop for any raw metal needs, personal or work related. They also have a bunch of cool stuff in general, and it's fun to wander around and see what you find.

Do you build, craft, metal work or create? Are you a DIY person or a fixer? You'll love this place. Before you throw your money at some mindless hardware store franchise, go to The Yard first. The employees are helpful and I always find rad stuff to build or create with and all for excellent prices.

This place has had almost everything I've needed for every hobby or project that I have had. Their prices are unbeatable. Check here before you buy online or from local large hardware stores. It's worth it to show up and see if they have what you are looking for. You're almost guaranteed to find something you need that you didnt even know you could find locally.

Our son need the shop rags & winter covers since his job is outside. Great prices. I also got items for sewing. Husband found whatever it was he needed. To me, the Yard is an adventure.

I love this place. Such a gem for tools & accessories, leather, upholstery, metal, plexiglass, garden tools, DIY supplies, and a wide variety of other things. There are a lot of treasures and it can be tough to get out. Definitely worth a stop though. I highly recommend checking it out!

I've been visiting The Yard for several years and as far back as I can remember it has always been like a candy shop to any man's man any fabricator any hardcore hobbyist or anybody that needs a variety of just about anything in one place. I never have to shop around because the prices are always spot-on and the staff is always eager to help and they know right where everything is believe it or not amongst the rather large Surplus of stock. If they're reading this review this is my shout out to the whole crew for being a badass Wichita One Stop Shop!

I've always loved this store! They have so many things to offer customers, whether professionals, do it yourselfers, hobbyist. An individual can make it a quick stop, the staff is awesome, or (which I've done on numerous occasions!)spend 2-3 hrs. looking what they have to offer to design, plan, & finish a project

If you need it, the Yard probably has it. From drill bits to foam, from metal to files this place has it all. You could easily spend hours there looking up and down the aisles and looking outside. By far one of my favorite stores.
Dec 28, 2017 -
I will be visiting this store more often. Large array of tools and raw materials available. Various stock of several types of metals available outside the store ranging from sheet to bar stock to angle and tubing just to name a few. Friendly and helpful staff. The Yard also has the original Air Force One on display on the east side of the lot. A must see for anyone in the area!
