Small family deli, meat counter, fresh made pizzas and hots, sweet tea, fountain drinks, and a small grocery store and gas station all in one. Reminds me of back home ❤️
Lawhon’s is hands down my favorite place on this side of town. It’s been owned by a local family for many, many years, and you can really feel that hometown pride the moment you walk in. They serve fresh food and also carry a small but convenient selection of groceries, which is perfect when you need essentials in a pinch.
Their chicken is amazing, and the sausage and gravy is absolutely to die for. They also have a butcher shop — while it can be a bit pricey, the quality is worth every penny. The meat is fresh cut and incredibly delicious. The cashiers are always friendly, attentive, and welcoming.
It does get busy in the mornings with trades and construction workers grabbing gas, breakfast, and lunch boxes, but it’s totally worth the wait. Whether you’re stopping in for ice-cold beer, fresh biscuits, fresh pizza, or quality steaks for dinner, this is the place to go.
There’s plenty of parking around the building, my kids love it just as much as I do, and we’re always happy to stop in.
We love Lawhon's breakfast (best biscuits and gravy), lunch (chicken tenders w/spicy ranch, thank me later) or dinner (meat loaf) country cooking sides, mmmmm delicious. Great butcher counter. Fantastic Mom-Pop shop.

So good! I ate my chicken tenders and mac n cheese so quick and forgot to get a picture! The staff was awesome and friendly. Oh and the get some ranch its life changing!!
I've been out of Florida for almost two years. I just returned and Lawhon's is one of my very first stops! If you're hungry THIS is the place you want to be.
Their food is REALLY good & I think reasonably priced for the amount offered. The entire staff makes your visit a pleasant experience because everyone is cheerful & happy. Stop once & you'll for sure be a repeat customer! If I could give more than 5 stars I most certainly would!
A great place to pick up a ready-made snack or go to a good butcher and pick up dinner ideas. A very nice convenience store that has a gas station and a car wash attached.

We live in Alva and LOVE Lawhon’s. I won’t get our meat from anywhere else. Everyone is so friendly and take the best care of us every time. We will always shop and support this family business!!

It's not a huge warehouse or some fancy designed store. It's just right! A little shop on the corner of Nelle Road and Bayshore Road.
Burgers made like they used to be, hand formed, not pressed to oblivion. They are made with good old American cheese. You grab your own condiments, so you know it's going to be made just like it you want it. Perfect. The meat is literally the size of probably 3 burger pattys used at other burger joints. I also had their potato chip encrusted chicken tenders. Notice I said "had" not "tried" man, they are tasty. My husband got a box full of chicken gizzards. He loved them!
If you're in the neighborhood, stop by and grab some ready-made food for a spur of the moment afternoon picnic in the park. Forget your lunch, run late this morning, or are you just on the road between appointments. Stop in. You'll be glad you did. You can take it with and eat it on the run, at the job, or heck just join the rest of us sitting on our tailgates under the trees in the parking lot enjoying the afternoon and the food.
Picked up some meat for dinner and bought my husband a block of beef tallow for Valentines Day (the new thing, it is supposed to be tastier and healthier than all the processed stuff). There is no better way to my mans heart. He is happier than a pig in .... maybe I am a bit to country.

Every time I’ve come here this place never disappoints. From the customer service & hospitality they provide and the incredible home made southern food. This place is a southern charm that you certainly can’t resist!!
If your looking for a fast spot to get to grab gas and a bite to eat for the road, this is the spot! Nice and helpful staff with a wide variety of hot and cold pre-made food items. Plus deli counter section with servers. Lawhon's has its own butcher shop with various meats in cooler section.
I asked if they could make me grilled cheese sandwiches, which they graciously did, and they were perfect, just like my mom used to make. Thank you Ladies! Took home one of their premade burgers which was tasty, just like homemade. Glad I finally stopped by and glad all the Google map reviewers helped me know I should go there. I pass by every week and I can't wait to try more!
This place is great. Opens at 5:30 am. Some of the best country breakfast foods you can get. All kinds of fresh food. It’s a butcher shop, grocery store, take out restaurant and gas station, all rolled into one super place to go. They have a different special dinner offer every evening. Also about 15 nice ladies to help you get even special orders if they don’t have what you’re in the mood for. They close at 7 pm so don’t be late.
We were recently staying at an RV resort up the road and stumbled across Lawhons for breakfast. It was delicious and a value for the price you pay. Everyone working was an absolute pleasure when talking with them. We will definitely stop in again when in town. Next time we want to try some of their meat from the market.
This place is a Hidden Gem... they have a incredible Deli area with hot and cold food plus an amazing assortment of meat... the employees are so wonderful and always greet you with a smile even though they are super busy all the time. A great business!!
Great little store. I was expecting more of the convenience store and it's more of a mini supermarket. It reminds me of the stores up in Maine. Plus they have good food prepared fast.
Today is my daughter and son-in-law’s second wedding anniversary, and I wanted to surprise them with a special breakfast. When I pulled into the parking lot at Lawhon’s Grocery and Meat, I almost reconsidered because the lot was packed. I thought, “This is going to take forever.”
But I decided to give it a try—and I’m so glad I did! Even with at least 10 people in line, the staff was incredibly efficient. It took just 2-3 minutes to get through. The team here is sharp, focused, and committed to providing excellent service without wasting any time.
Their breakfast options are fantastic, offering a wide variety to satisfy any craving. This isn’t just a great spot for breakfast, though—it’s also an amazing meat market with top-quality products and a great selection. On top of that, they have a variety of convenience items that make it easy to grab everything you need in one stop.
Lawhon’s went above and beyond my expectations. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend this gem to anyone!
I picked up some meat from Lawhon's tonight. They accept the D-Snap, and I figured if I'm getting free food I may as well stock up on meat.
10/10 recommend.
The meat all was packaged very well. It's all fresh and labeled. They had it ready for me in 2 hours (I got $300 worth of assorted meats) and the service was great.
I ended up with:
12 lbs ground chuck
2 lbs chicken tenderloins
1 slab of ribs
1 lbs bacon
1 lbs breakfast sausage
14 pork chops
4 cube steaks
6 sirloin steaks
5 boneless chicken breasts
8 hamburger patties
2 lbs beef stew meat
10 beef hot dogs
This is going to feed us for like 5 weeks of dinners. Not counting leftovers.
Great cuts of meat. We tend to stop in once a week for steaks. You can't go wrong with the tomahawk ribey or the bone in ribeye unless you over cook. Cooked to perfection, tender and juicy.
Excellent pre-made meals! Get the short rib rice and gravy, delicious! Meatball and cheese subs and their meatloaf dinner or sandwich is pretty darn good too. They have lots of options along with a great meat department. The whole place is built into a Marathon Gas Station there's even a nice car wash behind the building. Enjoy
