The golfing is subpar, the restaurants are........barely palatable, the church is a crumbling mess, the medical facilities are a joke at best, although the fishing is phenomenal!
Amazing care and a great place for your loved ones to stay and get the best care possible. Amazing nursing care and nurses treat residents like they are there own family!
We’ve been visiting for a dozen years. What a wonderful place for retirees of all ages. So much to do it’s difficult to decide which options to fill your day, and that includes Independent Living, Assisted and Nursing. Great folks leading the organization, workers and residents. Such a fun, safe place.
My mother, now 98, has been a resident for over 15 years. Independent and assisted living were ok. Skilled nursing a disorganized mess and this is where the resident needs the most help. On our most recent visit she looked like a refugee with unwashed hair and face, soiled clothes and a very sad countenance. I would not put my dog in this place.
some very friendly people, but you have a lot of people not follow speed limits going way under or way to fast. you have a lot of older people standing in the middle of the roads while trying to drive past and they refuse to move and make you sit there while they talk. other then that beautiful area
Everyone Is always very friendly when we go visit family there. They were a tremendous help during a difficult time. Beautiful views. Everyone seems to be a close within the community. Helping one another. The restaurant food and service was excellent. Staff knows the people and not just another number to them which makes it feel more like a huge family. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a retirement community.
Made a reservation online for the restaurant in the woodlands (palm grill) for table for 2. Get confirmation and everything. We arrive at the restaurant and they ask our name, I tell them and they don't have it. I showed them the email, she says oh we don't do reservations online. I said ok well we need a table for 2. Sorry we are full, I'm like I see empty tables. Yes those are for people that have reservations. I see I wasn't getting anywhere with this older woman, so she goes away and comes back we can sit u outside, I said what about the no serums, she was unaware of what those were. So we go outside and get the menus and wait and wait, 2 baskets of bread where served before the server came, I ordered an Arnold Palmer what arrived was just unsweet tea, I asked if she had forgotten the lemonade and she says snotty, well we ran out of lemonade. Okay my mom ordered a meal with Caesar salad and anchovies. Salad came with no anchovies and the woman took back and said she would fix it. Okay meal comes, steaks aren't cooked to temperature and have no flavor. And I asked when her salad may come back she argued with us said she brought it and hadn't. So she has an attitude again Im done with u I'm going for the manager, ok so out comes the chef, he tells us their is no manager tonight and he wanted the story from the beginning, so I tell him from the reservation part, and he said oh only the manager can check those online reservations and since she wasn't their. Then we tell him about the dirty vegetables and steak not cooked or seasoned right. He tells us the steaks r cry o vacted and basically boiled in a bag of seasoning. This place used to be top of our list to eat. Oh well. And you need to open back up the clubhouse it was great food at great prices and the view was awesome
We have been visiting Shell Point to see family for over 15 years. The team is great and efficient and there is care for every level. We always stay on site and dine a good bit on site. The entire property is well maintained and the staff has been around for years, If not decades
Love this place. I often visit family there. If you have half a million to throw down and about $3500 a month then this is the place for you. If not, your like about 98% of us and thats alright too.
Notice that they don't respond to negative reviews? That in and of itself should speak volumes. And why are there no negative reviews on other forums? Because they delete them! BEWARE!!!
My late mother-in-law was set to move in, and we received notice the day before her move-in date that they would not be accepting her. What changed? They learned that her daughter and I are a couple. Homophobia at its finest. And their hate was visited on a 92-year-old. Horrible.
Mt mother was there for rehab. It was awful. If I could give a no star review, I would. Poor care and really bad food. For example, she received cottage cheese and fruit for lunch and then was given the same thing for dinner on the same day. The only addition was a cup of sauerkraut and apples. Care was disjointed and we had to give the nurses her medical history everyday as they were never the same. We got her out of there but it took 3 weeks during which she declined so badly we thought she was going to die. We were able to get her into a new facility where she is now thriving. They are riding on their past reputation. I wouldn't put my dog there.
My mother was placed in rehab in the Larsen Pavilion after being hospitalized. Shell Point gets great reviews but if you’re not a resident it’s terrible. There is no communication and coordination between internal staff. Food is awful and you’re lucky if you’re given a shower once a week. The nursing care leaves much to be desired and we never saw or heard from a doctor the entire stay until the day of her release. She did not improve but declined rapidly contracting pneumonia. It was only after continuous inquiries regarding her chest X-ray we found out 4 days later that she had pneumonia. One of her nurses didn’t even know she had pneumonia…we finally transferred her to a much better rehab facility and she is doing so much better. My advice…steer clear of this place for your loved ones.
My husband and I moved to Shell Point 5 years ago and loved it right from the start. I was in my mid 60's when we moved here. I found the community to be full of very interesting residents who have led fulfilling lives. The staff is amazing. They are all so engaged in their jobs and look for extra ways to help the residents. The restaurants, which are open to the public, offer a wonderful selection of delicious food. Shell Point supports many different kinds of sports, artistic pursuits, learning opportunities, social events, performing arts, travel far & wide, etc. It continues to add and refresh amenities on a regular basis. It is a wonderful place to live!
IF I COULD GIVE A 0 I WOULD!!!! Awful management!!! I would never suggest this place! The staff is nasty and rude towards the members, the management is unprofessional in every way you could possibly imagine and handles situations piss poorly! You claim you’re a “family oriented facility and a good Christian company” yet you treat people like they’re worthless! I would never suggest this place for anyone! You’re better off at Vi at Bentley living! It’s not worth the prices to live there and get the treatment you do! Worst staff member I’ve ever dealt with is a man named Paul! Take your money anywhere else but shell point!!
I have been here 14 years. I came with my husbands and we loved it from the beginning. My husband died in an accident 6 years ago. I have felt great support since his death, I feel safe and have been surrounded with good friends. I am very glad to be here as a widow.
I came to Shell Point 20 years ago and have never regretted it one day.
Now at 97 I am independent happy, and active. I feel secure and my family enjoy visiting this great place.
Beautiful place to retire. Everyone I talk to loves living here. There's a marina, gardening space, waterfront views, an excellent restaurant and the apartments are lovely.
