The staff is very polite and professional, always take time to explain everything clearly. Prices are fair and reasonable, with no pressure for extra services.

I recently visited Nichols and Sons to have my Subaru cylinder heads refinished. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the experience. The facts of my encounter are as follows:
1. Rough belt sanding: Upon receiving the cylinder heads, I noticed the sealing surface had been belt sanded very roughly, resulting in deep scratches. This raised concerns about the sealing capability of the heads, which I brought up with the staff.
2. Ignored concerns: My concerns about the rough sanding were brushed aside. Despite expressing my worries regarding the sealing issues that might arise, the matter was not taken seriously.
3. Poorly cleaned heads: I observed that the heads were dirty, filled with oil, dirt, and remnants of gasket material.
4. Leakage issues: As expected, after installing the cylinder heads, they immediately began to leak oil and coolant, a direct consequence of the inadequate preparation of the heads.
5. Unpleasant response: When I returned to the shop to request proper resurfacing and cleaning, an employee became offended and told me to take them elsewhere. This was unprofessional and did not address the core issue.
On a positive note, the shop provided me with a refund for their services, which I appreciated. However, considering the overall experience, I would not recommend this machine shop for cylinder head refinishing.
I have done business with the Nichol's family since 1975. When my first car overhaul led me to their business I met Mr. Nichols, Glenn and Harlan 's father. He loaned me a ring groove cleaner! Unheard of today. These guys are an institution. Thank you. Pete Thomas
I've had two motors machined at this shop and had a pair of VW heads looked at. Their machining work is excellent! They're old school and know how it is supposed to be done. They're also honest! The VW heads were done! They didn't just wanna fix what I asked them to do and collect a check - they let me know that the heads were done and weren't worth the repair when I could buy a new set online for less than repairing them.
Their painting engine skills could use some work LOL, but they're not an engine paint shop. They machine engines and auto parts and they do a damn good job at doing it. BTW guys - that boat is STILL running so strong and I love this engine job you guys did for me. Thanks again.
Glenn was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. He and his son went above and beyond to get the job done quickly and at a fair price. I would definitely recommend what's business to anybody looking for their services.
I was referred here by Chrysler Dodge auto wrecking. Nichols was too fair to me did a great job should have charged me more. I will be back here again very difficult to find a machine shop that is looking out for the customers best interest.

I agree with previous poster, Glenn is amazing and these guys do fantastic work. They really helped me with my old vw rabbit head. Honest, they get back to you like they say they will, they don't lie by omission, and it was a pleasure working with them. I'll go there again if and when it's needed, for sure. Thanks!
Glenn is amazing, he is very smart and good at what he does. We have taken 3 cylinder heads to him so far and plan on bringing a lot more work his way in the future. Glenn is always friendly and makes you feel welcomed when you are there. I highly recommend Nichol's & Sons!!!
