Southern Heritage Restoration (SHR) doesn't even deserve a 1 star but it is the lowest I could go. Our journey (nightmare so it came to be) started a year ago when we went to look for some doors in our current house. We found some and Paul is a salesman - who can't deliver. We purchased 4 doors which we were told by Paul they would be ready in 2 weeks. Well 2 weeks to me translates to 14 days. His version of 2 weeks is more like 4 months as I believe we finally go the doors in June and we purchased them in January -- a really long 2 weeks. During all of this we were building a house in TN. We did find some doors at SHR on our first visit that we were going to use for the front doors in our TN house. We didn't need them right away as the house was just getting started. Then we purchased more doors from him for the interior doors of the house. My husband took pictures of all the doors we purchased. The house was moving along in TN and we told Paul we needed the doors by the end of September. Nothing was done but he had multiple excuses. Then gave him a deadline of November 17 -- nothing done but more excuses. Fortunately our builder asked us to hold off but wanted them in January. So our drop dead date was January 13, 2026 as we had a POD dropped off to ship the doors to TN. The POD was to be picked up on January 22, 2026. All the doors were to be painted and put in a jam so all our builder had to do was install them. Plus he had to build a transom for the front doors that we purchased and cut them down to 6 feet as they were 9 feet - sand them, poly them. Well the front door and the transom got done and I will give credit where credit is due -- they are nice ( I think on of his employees did all the work not him). We stopped by the day before the pickup of the POD and guess what -- the vast majority of the doors were NOT done, NOT painted or in jams. He actually had nerve to ask us to delay the pick up--- now he has had since September. I told him to do like we did in college and pull an all nighter. Paul was supposed to send pictures of the doors in the jams before they were packed and loaded --- well we never got any pictures. When the doors got unloaded on the other end -- most of the doors were not even the ones we purchased from him. In other words we got screwed big time by him. The builder's carpenter had an enormous amount of work to do on the doors before he could even install them. With the excess wood from our front doors we had asked him to build a changing table for our daughter since she is having a child. (now this was before we the actual nightmare of the doors). Again, I believe one of his employees actually made it and it is nice. We were supposed to pay for it but Paul told us to take it - no charge. What that tells me is that he knew he was screwing us and to halfway make up for it he wasn't going to charge us for the changing table. Our daughter had made a deal for a front door --- which we cancelled it because of the trouble we have had with him. He then said he put alot of work into getting her door ready -- who cares, right. I strongly suggest avoiding SHR but if you choose to use Paul -- on the invoice have a clear description written down on what the door looks like - such as a 5 panel door. Take picture of it and on your copy of the invoice attach the pictures and even send him the pictures. We didn't do that, our big mistake. Then make him sign the invoice as to when the work will be completed. He won't want to do this and GOOD LUCK.

Horrible experience! Simple vintage screen door. Paul was to put a screen in the door, burn the grain slightly, varnish and cut to size. Supposed to put hinges on the correct side along with the handle to have a complete and finished door. I was told 2 weeks. He said probably a 3 hour job. 6 weeks later I got a door that looked liked a brown stained door, hinges on wrong side center piece in backwards and wasn’t even cut to size. Basically he put a screen in and not a very good job at that.More concerned about getting his money and going hunting than to get the door right. Be smart go somewhere else to start with or you will be going there to get it straightened out.

I contacted Paul Moss and Southern Heritage Restoration LLC in April 2025 to build two patio doors. Paul wanted a deposit of half up front and said two to three weeks completion. I sent messages in May, June and July 2025 with same response, within two weeks. I finally had had enough of this scammer and sent a demand letter to have the job completed by end of July 2025 or refund. He finally did the job in August of 2025 and boy did I get screwed. He half assed the doors and the quality was crap. Paul then demanded the final payment immediately. I asked him about the quality and the shitty install before I paid. He promised he would come fix any issues and wanted me happy, but he had to have payment immediately. He hasn't done anything and has been paid for premium quality and I got cheap inferior work. I am now having to spend more money to correct his horrible work. Do not get scammed by this scam artist and definitely do not pay him any money. It took four months, a third of a year for two simple doors that it looks like he did in two days including the paint that is coming off.

What a place!! We’ve been looking for “old” doors for a project for our new home build. My sister n law saw something on Facebook about Southern Heritage Restoration so we gave Paul a call to see what he had. We drove 3 hours to SHR and left with 11 doors, 2 old beams, a gorgeous 10’ mantle AND a small cabinet that is now a nightstand! Absolutely loved looking through SHR and working with Paul for our purchase. It was definitely a worthwhile trip for us!

We purchased an old wooden door to replace a metal door that had gotten mold in it, on October 19th. It was suppose to be ready in 2 weeks. We picked it up Friday Dec. 8th. The owner said he had applied polyurethane on it 2 or 3 times and would be dry and ready to hang the next Monday. We didn't try to get it hung until this Friday. Our hands were covered in the stain used on the door, although it had been in a warm, not humid environment inside our home. If polyurethane had been put on it, it may have been tacky but the stain would not have gotten all over us.

We drove 3 1/2 hours to buy doors from Paul at SHR. We bought 2 beautiful sets of doors one of which he custom made. His work is top notch and you will love all the exquisite and unique doors he has to offer. You can definitely tell this is his passion and he puts his all into his work. We absolutely cannot wait to add his talent to our new build.

SHR is an incredible place. Mr. Moss and his team take great pride in their work, and will no doubt put 110% of their effort into building whatever you commission them to build with the best of their ability.
