Worst shop in tidewater!!!took them 3 months to rebuild my transmission.they quoted me 3500$ which ended up being over 6500$ . Drove it 2 miles and had to come straight back to the shop because it was gushing oil everywhere. Then the mechanic told me they forgot to put the motor mount bolts in . The transmission slams into gear now and it still leaks oil.everything they touched is leaking. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else

My transmission burned out and these guys took care of me. They did a great job on the work and kept it as reasonable as possible. They did come in under budget, barely, but thank you for getting me back on the road.

Don’t EVER go here especially if you’re a female. I came here for a free AC check. Keep in mind they have no idea my car had a brand new compressor but I’m sure after looking at it they knew. I brought my car there and they held onto it for THREE DAYS just to check the AC. Left my car in the parking lot, windows down key in ignition and unlocked. Anyone could have stole my car or property in my car. I had to go up there because they wouldn't answer the phone and when they did they said it wasn’t ready. Turns out my car was done the whole time. They tried to tell me I needed a brand new compressor and waste my money on something I didn’t need. My ac just needed a RECHARGE. Something any shop can do that doesn’t take ANY LABOR. All they had to do was hook it up to the recharger and boom done! They think just because I’m a female you can scam me out of 2-400 dollars for a brand new compressor. I will NEVER EVER recommend coming here and truly hope you guys lose business.

I definitely recommend this business!! The owner is extremely knowledgeable and compassionate. The mechanic that rebuilt my transmission and replaced my alternator was great! Be patient with them if needed, my vehicle is running like new!!

My boyfriend got his transmission done here. The people are great but they took a month to repair his car after saying itd take 4-5 days. Very reasonably priced though and great work.

Rebuild my engine on my 2005 Mercedes, they did a good job.

My car sat for 3 weeks and nothing was done. They lied and said my warranty company wasn’t trying to fix my car and the whole time the warranty company never was contacted. Every time I called it’s was excuses.

I hate leaving this sort of review, and I even waited longer than necessary just to see if my transmission would course correct after some drive time.. well I paid this guy $730, which was not even what he quoted me upon finish the night before.. my car is doing the exact same thing it was doing when I brought it to him.. so I'm wondering what I have him money for. He said something to the effect of having to replace the pcm.. well if that were the case, then why did I pay him anything??

Just had to spend $3,500 to fix everything they touched on my work rig. From the start of this they never found what was actually wrong and it but removed my transmission to replace parts that they thought was the issue. Over the course of two months it sat in their shop while they just kept trying things. I later had it towed to another mechanic because I just had enough of the excuses and down time. The other mechanic found the problem quickly and it was a simple fix. Turned out the transmission wire harness dropped and landed on the exhaust manifold causing malfunction issue. The other mechanic replaced the wire and I was good to go. Since then I have had the truck in a different shop repairing the damage that Transmission Repair And Service caused. What the new shop found- Front pump was assembled incorrectly. bushing installed backwards and incorrectly clocked. causing damage to the torque converter (which also had to be replaced). Also found 6 bolts loose in valve body with 2 of them in the pan.

First off, great price on the transmission and they did amazing work, when they worked. Had to call multiple times and almost ended up towing my car back home and buying a cheap used car instead but he got it done right on time. Got my car back with no gas (didn't even make it to the nearest gas station and ended up pushing it with help into the gas station from the turn lane), tire had a huge bolt in it (they were brand new and I ended up having to patch in a parking lot myself because it lost so much air) and I had to jump my battery twice and ended up just buying a new one and doing that in a random parking lot too. He's a military veteran that owns the business and overall, great work if you give him a pick up date. Inspect your car thoroughly before leaving though

Being a woman who does most of my own simple repairs it is rare that I find a place that treats me with respect. This place was great! He had a guy test drive my car and read the codes. They told me what the problem was, I was able to get the parts, change them myself and my old car is running like new again. Honest and respectful folks there!

I will tell you that this used to be a Ammaco transaction shop. The owner of Transmission repair and service is a great place to have your vehicles worked on. The owner of the shop his name is Jim. Jim is a great guy, This man will bend over backwards to make sure that you are satisfied with their work,This man will definitely help you out with the problems that you have with your vehicle. I have the upmost respect for this man. I will tell you that Jim has been working on cars and trucks since he was a kid. I trust this man entirely and if I could give him more than five stars I would if possible. I don't give out five stars that often and believe me just read my reviews, I get a lot of feedback from the places that I review from the owner or owners because I call a spade a spade and tell it like it is. Next time you need work done on your vehicle definitely go see Him at Transmission repair and service. Because Jim is the Man. He's honest, he will find the problem not just replace parts, and he will not fix something that is not broke. I know he has helped me out more than once. Okay we enough said. : Thanks for reading. Excellent mechanics and the owner is a strait up trustworthy guy! I had my transmission rebuilt on my 03 ford explorer almost a year ago and is still running strong! He worked with me on the price and backed up his work! This place is more then a transmission shop they can and will fix any issue car related! I highly recommend this place!

Looks are deceiving Pay no attention to what you see! But pay closer attention to the excellent service they give. So never judge a book by its cover, The proof is in good and fair and honest Service They gave me. If I could give them 10 stars I would. We were just driving through town, heading towards SC and our 2009 Kia borrego had a clicking sound when shifting. I called this place up and they immediately pulled our car into the shop, did a free inspection and fixed the problem. Everyone was extremely nice and wanted you to know exactly what they were fixing and how they were going to do it. I would reccomend this shop to anyone in the area!

They are really kind and checked my Honda civic, and found it had an oil leak. They didn't charge me for the diagnostic, and they even let me see the problem.

This is the only shop I go to. They have rebuilt my transmission and a few other jobs. They are really affordable and they back their work. Times where I have had problems with my vehicle they were also willing to check it out without charging me a large diagnostic fee. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is because they don't do appointments. You must be able to leave your car.

In my opinion this Repair Shop is very unprofessional, has terrible workmanship, and poorly managed. About six months ago I took my SUV there for service. The Shop charged me $1000 and never resolved my issue, however they felt justified to keep my money. So they kept my money and referred me to the SUV manufacture for repairs. I contemplated taking them to court but due to health reasons I did because of the stress it would incur. I will never recommend this Shop to anyone, as a matter of fact, I will warn all my friends and family to avoid this Repair Shop at all cost.

After calling for a price check on a transmission flush, I was almost ready to drive my vehicle there since "their the cheapest around". Until, the so-called "manager" calls me back after I ended the phone call. I told him I was price quoting to see who was the cheapest, he proceeded to get an attitude after calling ME back telling me that they are the "cheapest around". I guess sometimes it's better to pay more for a better quality job and attitude.
